Brooke Shields six-year-old daughter won $6,000 at the Kentucky Derby. The actress revealed little Rowan defied the odds when the pair, along with Brooke’s husband Chris Henchy and three-year-old daughter Grier, went to the world famous horse race.

“We went to the Kentucky Derby for the first time as a family, and of course my older one picked the winner. “We tried to talk her out of it. It was 50-to-1. She said, ‘I like the name Mine That Bird and I think it's good,’ and I said, ‘Now honey, it's 50-to-1. Those aren't good odds.' But she said, ‘Mom, I like it.’ And I was like, ‘Alright, whatever.’ She got like $6,000.”

However, Rowan didn’t get to spend all her winnings as her parents have put the money away for her future. Brooke revealed to OK magazine:

“We put it in her college fund and she appreciated that. Her biggest thing was that she got a Kentucky Derby Barbie.”

LOL! If only everyone was that careful with money.

Brooke, 41, has also revealed her daughters make her feel special. She said:

“I'm amazed how beautiful they think I look. “Because you live with them all day long, and then tonight I was all dressed up, and the little one, Grier, said to me, ‘Mom!’ and so Rowan said, ‘You look beautiful.’ Honestly, it's because there's sparkle, not because it's classy. And then the little one said, ‘You look stunning!’, and I was like, ‘Stunning? You're my favorite human beings.’ "

Meanwhile, the only thing my daughter has been telling me lately is that she loves her father more than me. LOL!! Praying it's a phase! Not bitter I swear.

This has to be the creepiest story of 2009 so far! Imagine having your mother who suffers from dementia or Alzheimer's get checked out of her nursing home by a tabloid reporter.  I mean - talk about crossing the line!

Brooke Shields unfortunately had this happen to her a few months ago and has since sued the National Enquirer and their reporter.  After a few weeks in the courts, the two parties have finally come to an agreement.

Shields's attorney, Gerald B. Lefcourt made the following statement:

"Two weeks ago, Brooke Shields was forced to make a public disclosure about her mother, Teri Shields's health, when we learned that Mrs. Shields had been taken out of a care facility by a reporter and photographer working for the National Enquirer and I was told that the National Enquirer was going to print information about her condition and whereabouts." 

"I am very pleased to report that [the] National Enquirer was prevailed upon not to publish a story. Further, it has or will be apologizing publicly.

Finally, it has agreed to make a generous donation to further research on dementia and to encourage others to do so."

"I am glad that Brooke Shields and her family can consider the matter now closed." 

The newspaper had responded in a statement:

"A freelance reporter who has known Teri Shields for more than 10 years visited her Thursday at the assisted living facility where Brooke says she moved her. Teri asked the reporter to take her out to lunch and to run some errands. The freelance reporter then got permission from the facility to do so."

Not claiming blame. What else can you expect?

Brooke Shields says that when she was younger her self-esteem wasn't great, and that's why it took her until she was 22 years old to lose her virginity!

"I think I would have had sex a lot earlier! I think I would have lost my virginity earlier than I did at 22.

I had the public and this pressure, and I wish I had just gotten it over with in the beginning, when it was sort of OK. I think I could have been much more in touch with myself."

She adds that if she had ended up having sex earlier that things would have been different.

"I think I wouldn't have had issues with weight -- I carried this protective 20 pounds [in college]," she says. "It was all connected. And to me, that's a health regret."

Hmmm, do you think that sex and weight are that directly connected?

Brooke Shields says her daughters are “lazy little children”. The actress doesn’t believe six-year-old Rowan Francis and Grier Hammond, three, will follow in her footsteps as child actresses because they are not interested in learning “tricks”.

When asked if the girls have an acting career ahead of them, she said:

“They are lazy little children. When I try to get Grier to do tricks, she’ll say ‘No, I cannot.’ Just flat out. I never even said that.

“They’re their own people. I don’t think they have the patience for it. They’re very theatrical and very dramatic, but all kids are.”

However, Brooke admits adopting her kids’ attitudes could make her career easier. She added:

“I should learn from Grier. It’s a big thing, especially in Hollywood, to say, ‘No I’m not comfortable with that, no I cannot.’ I learn from her.”

Brooke also confessed she often felt sidelined by her husband Chris Henchy in their children’s affections until recently. She added on ‘The Bonnie Hunt Show’:

“Moms are chopped liver no matter what. They suck off you, they come out of you, they destroy every part of you and then he gets all the credit. It’s terrible.

“But they come up with the gems. Grier said to me, she put her hands on my face and said, ‘I love you to the whole recipe. All your ingredients.’ “My eyes welled up with tears, and I said, ‘Well what are my ingredients?’ She said, ‘Funny, and so sweet. I love you. And I love you.’ ”

Ok, that just made me cry.

Last week, I was lucky enough to get invited to attend a party thrown by Tupperware at Bobby Flay's NYC apartment in order to help kick-off the Chain of Confidence Challenge.

Before I get into the actual challenge and speak about the celebs who attended, I have to tell you Bobby's apartment was amazing! The colors and designs were so NOT what I expected. It was a clear mix of modern and south western design. Rich reds and oranges on the wall accompanied by sleek white leather couches. Unbelievable!

And his bathroom is entirely turquoise! Now, I know you are saying to yourself, "How ugly is that?!" But it really wasn't. It was so beautiful! I didn't get to see his bedroom - that door was closed, but the rest of the house was available to tour.

So, who attended? Brooke Shields, Sherri Shepherd (I have a picture with her here) and designer Cynthia Rowley. The party was hosted by Bobby's wife, 'Law and Order' star Stephanie March. I didn't know who she was walking into the event as I don't watch the show, but when I entered the room - it was instantly clear. She is tall, thin, blonde, and beautiful.

Kiefer now faces assault charges as a result. Brooke is responding to "neither true nor authorized" statements that have been attributed to her with a statement of her own.

While at the party she was bumped into by Jack McCollough and Kiefer Sutherland became concerned. Kiefer has always been a gentleman in her company. Both Jack and Kiefer are friends of Ms. Shields and she regrets this unfortunate situation."

For his part, Kiefer's attorney has made the following statement:

'We are troubled by the untruthful and self-serving information circulating regarding Kiefer Sutherland and events of last Monday evening,' attorney Michael C. Miller said in a statement.

'We are confident, however, that the investigation being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and the NYPD will confirm that Kiefer Sutherland was neither the instigator nor a wrongdoer in this incident. Out of respect for this law enforcement process, Kiefer Sutherland will not be making any comment.' "
