Charlize Theron has to be one of the most low-key A-list celebs out there! She's always struck me as being laid-back and down-to-earth. Now I look at her walk the red carpet for her new film, 'The Road,' and I'm convinced.
Check out the shoes if you don't believe me. When was the last time you saw flats on the red carpet? They do go well with the dress :)
Yes, this movie is based on Cormac McCarthy's novel, 'The Road,' which was also an Oprah Book Club pic. Viggo Mortensen stars in the movie, too. Given that it's based on a best-selling novel, this has to be the quietest release for a movie adaptation I've ever seen. These pictures are the first I've heard about the film coming out. Do you want to see it?
And, of course, my most important question: love it or hate it?

Charlize Theron Raised $140,000 For Her African Outreach Project By Kissing A Girl
Over the weekend, we learned that a kiss from Charlize Theron's is worth $140,000. The 34-year-old actress stunned guests at the OneXOne charity event in San Francisco last Thursday with a foul-mouthed outburst after bidding for her offering of a trip to South Africa to watch a game at the soccer World Cup in 2010 and a meet-and-greet with Nelson Mandela raised just $37,000, and vowed to smooch the lucky bidder if the price was raised.
Referring to an earlier offering from Jeremy Piven which saw two walk-on roles in his US drama ‘Entourage’ sold for a total of $275,000, she said:
“For f**ks sake! You can do better. There is no way I am leaving here with Jeremy Piven getting a higher bid.”

Charlize’s offering raised money for the Charlize Theron African Outreach Project, which is teaming with the OneXOne Foundation to bring soccer pitches and clean water to the children of South Africa by 2010. Other celebrities at the event included Josh Groban, Carlos Santana and David Arquette.

Charlize Theron was not about to be outdone by the likes of Jeremy Piven last night at a charity auction gala for OneXOne. She was originally offering up a trip to South Africa that included World Cup tickets, a safari and a meet-and-greet with Nelson Mandela. When bidding stalled out at about $37,000, she upped the stakes.
"For f*** sake! You can do better," she tells attendees. "There is no way I am leaving here with Jeremy Piven getting a higher bid. I've got t**** for God's sake."
Piven's auction went for $280,000! So, she threw herself in the pot, offering a 7-second kiss for $130,000 to a male bidder:
"Swine flu is going around. This is high risk kissing!" she told him
.
But it was a woman who ended up winning the coveted kiss!
After one man bid $135,000, a woman upped the stakes to $140,000 -- ascending the stage for a 20-second smooch as the audience counted down.
"My boyfriend is not here tonight," she joked during the auction.
It's like a kissing booth - Hollywood style! What a great thing to do for a great cause! I bet Matt Damon was pretty excited at all of the money raised! And maybe a little sad that he missed the event! He had to back out of his hosting duties at the last minute, citing a family emergency.

Charlize Theron Is Not A Movie Star
At least, that's what Charlize Theron says.
"When somebody calls me a movie star, I worry a bit," she says. "It used to be about the work, but now it means you show up at the Oscars and look good."
"Today, younger girls are addicted to the fame, but that is not me. I keep all that stuff private."
Yet she was willing to share a little bit about her eight-year relationship with Stuart Townsend.
"My universe shifted when we got together, and life has been better since."
Although the best way for Charlize to impress him isn't with her acting.
"I tell my boyfriend I have been nominated for an Oscar, and he goes, 'That's nice, babe.' But I say I can get tickets for the World Cup and he is all 'Holy s***!'. All of a sudden, I’m a goddess."
LOL! Well, I still bet Stuart would call Charlize a movie star :)

Charlize Theron Hits The Gym
Charlize Theron was seen leaving a gym in Los Angeles with her personal trainer who attempted to cover up the actress with a large blue umbrella.
We've known for a while that Charlize and her boyfriend of 9 years, Stuart Townsend, have no plans of marriage but Charlize recently reinstated why.
“I've already once lived in a country where certain people got certain things and certain people didn't, and I refuse to live in another country that does that. I will not take part in a ceremony that right now is not available to everybody,” she added.
It's cool that Charlize is sticking to her guys, so to say, until what she believes in comes true!
