More exciting news for those you (us) watching How I Met Your Mother! The role of Lily's (played by Alyson Hannigan) father has been cast. The lucky dad is Chris Elliott. I think it's perfect - he's so wacky and would make perfect sense since Lily is a pretty hilarious character with a lot of quirks.

Back in September, when they were still searching for the perfect dad, the series' creator, Carter Bays, shared with TV guide:

He was not at the wedding. It's a bit of an estranged relationship and he's going to come back into her life," Bays says. "We find out he wasn't the best dad. It's sort of at the root of why Marshall's very gung-ho about having kids and Lily not so much."

I think most people remember him as the uber-creepy stalker Dom (aka "woobie") from the movie There's Something About Mary.
