The Secret Life Of Bees Premiere

She's at that age...short dresses and t-strap high heels will probably be the norm for Dakota Fanning from here on out.  Don't get me wrong, I think she looks great, but I'll always see her as that adorable little girl from I Am Sam.

In other news, the Secret Life of Bees premiere was star studded. Read below for a list of celebs you'll find in the thumbnails:

  • Will Smith
  • Jada Pinkett Smith

Dakota Fanning Is A Cheerleader

Dakota Fanning Is A Cheerleader

Awww, how cute is this?!?  Dakota Fanning really is that sweet little all American girl...she just became a cheerleader at her high school!  After being homeschooled for most of her life she recently started attending a private school and decided that she wanted to get involved.

"I am a cheerleader. Now everybody always wants me to do cheers.  It's so funny."

She's really getting a sense of community at her new school.

"Cheerleading is so much fun, especially at your school because you get such a sense of school spirit and you're proud of your school. I love that. I'm the one that's on top of the (human) pyramid; I'm the flyer, so that's fun too."

Dakota Fanning At The Premiere Of "Hounddog"

Oh my god...  Dakota Fanning is SO BIG! Here she is at the premiere of her new movie, "Hounddog" at the Village East Cinemas in NYC last night looking all grown up and beautiful in a silver shirt, black pants, and a killer pair of heels. :) Can you believe she's already 14?! The good news is things seem to be going well for her and she's managed to look and act her age. Here's to keeping it that way!

Our Little Girl Is All Grown Up

dakota airporta2
It's the weekend. So I thought I'd give a little shout out to Dakota Fanning since I NEVER cover her. Look at how she's grown. I hope that she can make the transition from child to adult actor with little complication. She really is quite good at her craft.  Here she is at LAX waiting for her bags.

I Blinked And Dakota Fanning Grew Up

I was surprised when I saw these recent photos of Dakota Fanning on a movie set in CA with Virginia Madsen. It is good to see Dakota looking happy and healthy. She is about 13 ½ years old and is turning into a very pretty young lady. They grow so quickly! That means we get older too... :)
Isn't she the little fashionista!?

Will Dakota Fanning Be The Next Lindsay Lohan?

I like Dakota Fanning and I think she is a terrific actress.  But when I think about how she will turn out in a few years, two people come to mind -  Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears. Do you think she will be one of the few lucky childhood actors who grow up to lead normal lives? Or is she destined to crash and burn? Don't get me wrong! I don't wish this on her. It just seems inevitable when you grow up in Hollywood.

When Is It Too Much For Child Actors?

I understand that Dakota Fanning is a great actress that is older than her years. BUT, I will not promote a film in which a young actress has to play a victim of rape. Why would her team allow her to take such a role? I don't care how daring it is. That is so traumatic and I would never want my daughter to simulate it no matter the paycheck. That's just my personal take on this. Dakota on the other hand, is very excited. Probably because she thinks she stop getting typecast as a kid. OH WAIT - she IS a kid. And not for nothing, I close my eyes during scenes when adults get raped. There is no freaking way I am going to watch this movie knowing this happens to a baby.
SHE may get raped in her next movie - currently titled "The Untitled Dakota Fanning project" - but Dakota Fanning, 12, thinks it's "wonderful." In an interview with thereeler.com, Fanning said of her movie, which will debut at Sundance, "I don't think that anybody should be talking about it yet because nobody's seen it yet, you know? . . . It's a wonderful film, and I'm really proud to be in it. I can't wait for people to see it." (source)

Oh and PS, she wants to direct.
"I would love to direct someday," Fanning told Time magazine for editions on newsstands Monday. "I've learned a lot from watching directors I've worked with, like Steven Spielberg and Gary Winick, whom I worked with on Charlotte's Web. I would love to have that relationship with another actor."
