Eric Bana Talks About Relationships With Women’s Health Magazine

Despite his complicated love life in his recent flick, The Time Traveler’s Wife, Eric Bana tells Women’s Health magazine what makes a real-life harmonious relationship in our September issue, on newsstands now.

On choosing “the one:”

“A girl’s got to be fun. It’s the one bit of advice I always give to friends of mine who are thinking of getting married.”

On creating a lasting relationship:

“I think love can come fairly easily and grow—but really liking the core essence of someone is a much harder thing to bottle. If you have both, you’re in pretty good shape. My wife and I really, really like each other as well as love each other. We definitely laugh together every day. And I don’t mean chuckle—I can maker her really laugh.

On what amazes him about women:

“They are so much better wired than men to deal with multiple things at once. They’re better at dealing with background noise and multitasking. If I’m writing something down while my wife wants to give me instructions for something else, I have to put my hand up and say, ‘Let me finish my one task and then I will take the next.’ It’s weird.”

Eric Bana Talks To Men's Health

Eric Bana Talks To Men's Health

'The Time Traveler's Wife' star Eric Bana talked to Men's Health about his love of cars (fast ones :), his love of New York City, and how uses his Australian roots to stay grounded.

Eric loves car racing, even after crashing.

"It’s something you look back on and realize how lucky you were. But I’ve crashed before and I’ve chased since. I guess what makes this one significant is the fact that I really convinced myself I would never crash because I was driving that car," Bana says of his painstakingly resorted 1974 Ford Falcon XB Coupe. "If it were any other race car, I wouldn’t have been bothered at all."

"Tony (Eric's best friend and navigator) and I have seen a lot of people badly injured in rallies, and we’ve pulled people from wrecks. And as a driver I was always frustrated at never being able to drive 10-tenths [as fast as possible] because you’re constantly coming up to a corner you’ve never seen before."

Aww, Eric sounds like such a typical guy, doesn't he? LOL

When he isn't racing cars, Eric finds inspiration in New York City.

"I loved New York, even back then," Bana says of the 1980s graffiti-scarred, pre-Giuliani New York. "It was such an overwhelming animal. I loved the energy and attitude of the place."

"It’s great for being productive and creative," Bana says of America.

But when Eric wants to get grounded, he relies on his native Australia for that. He can be anonymous in Melbourne.

"I embrace the two different lives. There’s not meeting in the middle. There’s not island between the two that allows them to coexist."

"Australians are bred to be antiestablishment. We’re wary of authority."

You can read Eric's entire interview in the Setpember issue of Men's Health, which is on newsstands now. Once you're done admiring this good-looking guy, you can give it to your husband or boyfriend to read :)

Brad Pitt Attends 'The Time Traveler's Wife' Release Party In NYC

Brad Pitt Attends 'The Time Traveler's Wife' Release Party In NYC

Brad Pitt attended 'The Time Traveler's Wife' afterparty at Rouge Tomate in New York City wearing an all white suit and looking quite handsome. The actor was seen chatting with Eric Bana, his 'Troy' co-star.

I think it's funny to see Brad at this party considering the screenplay writer has publicly said he wrote the film version of the story with Brad and Jennifer Aniston in mind.

Perhaps he got wind of the quote and decided to stop by.

Eric Bana And Rachel McAdams Dish On Doing Nude Scenes

Eric Bana And Rachel McAdams Dish On Doing Nude Scenes

Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams are co-starring in the new film 'The Time Traveler's Wife.' Apparently, there's some nudity that Eric wasn't expecting since the movie is rated PG-13, which he discussed with Rachel during an Entertainment Tonight interview.

Aussie hunk Eric asks Rachel, "All your nude scenes were cut. How did
that happen? I stupidly assumed that because it was PG-13, that even
though it was written that there was nudity, that there was no chance
there [would be] nudity. … I lost my clothes quite a few times. But I
always kept my back to camera. I kept it safe."

The actors said that although time travel is a key element of the plot, it's really a romance. Rachel said:

"... I didn't have an intense fascination with time travel [before
making the movie]. It was more that I read the book and time travel was
just a unique element of a really great love story."

"I just saw it as a device to arrange these two characters [who
are] apart who are really wanting to be together," agrees Eric, "and it
was very moving as a result."

Eric Bana Says Abs Are For People Without Friends

Eric Bana Says Abs Are For People Without Friends

Eric Bana thinks people who work out hard enough to have hard abs have no friends.
The ‘Time Traveler’s Wife’ actor isn’t concerned about having a perfect body
because he would rather spend his free time enjoying himself.
He told ‘Access Hollywood’:

“Abs are for people with no friends. I don’t do
the ab thing. I’ve even had them once, actually, for a film, and they were
always covered up. I just said to myself, ‘Well, I’ll just never do that
again.’ That was a waste of time. There’s so much more to enjoy in life.”

In his latest movie – in which he plays librarian Henry DeTamble, who
involuntarily travels through time – Eric had to appear naked several times
but says he only did it because he was told it was scientifically accurate.
He said:

“The movie’s very romantic. Henry’s just a guy who’s in love and I
think that’s a masculine thing.
“We had a time traveling expert on the set who said that for a fact if
Henry were to time travel he would be naked. We just had to take his word
for it.”

A time traveling expert.... Hmmmnnnn. Wonder how he became one of those?

Did anyone used to watch 'Journeyman'? I LOVED that show - but it's since been canceled. It had the same concept as ‘Time Traveler’s Wife’, a book which was written long before the show.

Celebs Out And About

Celebs Out And About

'Slumdog Millionaire' star Freida Pinto was spotted out in NYC. I think it would be safe to assume Freida likes butterflies ;)

It looks like things are still going strong with co-star Dev Patel; after having dinner in NYC (perhaps on this night, but I'm not sure), the two were waiting for their car when they spotted the photographers. Dev reportedly ran and left Freida to smile for the paparazzi.

Eric Bana had a boy's night out last night. The actor was photographed leaving Madeos in Los Angeles. Meanwhile,  Melanie Brown took her daughter for a little shopping and fresh air on Bedford drive.

And just in case you can't get enough of Katie Price, here is yet another snug outfit the UK star was photographed in.
