Remember that Harry Potter “prequel” play that J.K. Rowling announced a while back? Turns out that it’s not a prequel, it’s actually a SEQUEL!! Fans exploded this week when the beans were spilled that the play Harry Potter & the Cursed Child will take place 19 years in the future, basically where the very end of Deathly Hallows ended!!
OMG. Academy Award winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in Manhattan, according to CNN. He was found in his Manhattan apartment. Law enforcement sources tell CNN it appears Philip died of an overdose.
Philip was only 46 years old. He won an Academy Award in 2005 for ‘Capote.’ USA Today reports he had three kids (Cooper, age 10; Tallulah, age 7; and Willa, age 5) with costume designer Mimi O’Donnell. I don’t think I’m over-stating things when I say he was one of the most talented actors in movies these days. This is a great loss. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

These pictures speak for themselves, but I’ll point out what’s “news worthy”: Kim Kardashian is a brunette again! Here are some other celeb news highlights from the past week. Daft Punk and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were big winners at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. We began to wonder if Britney Spears had tied the knot when she was flashed some new bling on that finger. Heidi Klum is single. WE got to see more of Angelina Jolie in ‘Maleficent’ with a new “Dream” trailer. Miley Cyrus and Madonna teamed up. Kanye West settled one of his assault cases. Justin Bieber faced more legal trouble: this time in his native Canada. Take a look at some of the highlights of what happened last week!

Not everyone is struggling on the real estate market. The Real Deal located public records that revealed John Mayer had sold his Manhattan apartment at 225 Lafayette Street for $3.91 million. He listed it for $3.89 million, so he got a little more than he asked for. The singer bought the pad in 2005 for $2.17 million, so John made a nice profit on the place. High end properties definitely seem to have rebounded from the housing slump.
The 2,063-square-foot property is a corner apartment with Brazilian walnut floors and city views. The building, a 1924 Beaux Arts former bank, has a 24-hour doorman and roof deck. Sounds gorgeous, doesn’t it? Other celebs who reportedly live in the building include Dakota Fanning. John began spending most of his time in Montana in 2012 after he got into a little too much hot water for a string of indiscreet comments made in several interviews. Remember that? I’m sure Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson and Holly Robinson Peete do! Things seem to be going well with Katy Perry, however. Maybe staying out of NYC is key.
Zoe Saldana is taking on a challenging and iconic role…and bringing it to the small screen!
The star has been tapped to star in ta four-hour miniseries version of “Rosemary’s Baby.” She will play Rosemary, a young wife who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment with an eerie past. After becoming pregnant, Rosemary increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbors have…devilish notions about her unborn child!
NBC announced the “Rosemary’s Baby” mini in December, with Lionsgate TV attached to produce, according to Variety. The project is based on Ira Levin’s 1967 horror novel and is being written from that source by Scott Abbott and James Wong. This means it’ll be different than the original film version…but in a good way or bad way? How do you feel about this new project: excited or wary?
Breaking news: Lindsay Lohan claims her computer was stolen at the airport in Shanghai, China, after appearing (pictured) at the Sohu Fashion Achievement Awards. Of course, she’s offering a reward for its return, but she isn’t specifying how much she’ll give, saying, “Whatever it takes.” Hmm…probably a lot, then!
So why is Lilo so peeved her computer was stolen? TMZ has learned Lilo had some…naughty shots of herself! The actress claims she has some “tasteful nudes” (my words, not hers) from various photo shoots that were never supposed to be released. Lindsay alsoclaims she has “private correspondence” (her words, not mine) from a bunch of famous people like Woody Allen and Lady Gaga, that she wants to remain private.
I DOUBT this stuff will remain private, Lindsay! Gotta keep an eye on your stuff, am I right?
Who doesn’t love a good total invasion of privacy? I think we all have to love it at this point, don’t we know? In case you would at leaf like to know who’s spying on your onlining, Mozilla has released Lightbeam, a Firefox add-on that shows the user which sites are tracking your browsing history and how those sites are connected. It’s pretty simple, just download the plugin from Mozilla and get to PI’ing their nosey behinds. [via Engadget]
