James Franco To Guest Star On General Hospital

Do movie stars typically guest star on soap operas? This is an interesting twist isn't it? It has been announced that James Franco will guest star on ABC's "General Hospital" this fall.
The Pineapple Express and Spider-Man actor will play a mystery person who comes to the soap opera's town of Port Charles. The recurring role will begin Nov. 20 — to coincide with November sweeps — and will last about two months.
TWO MONTHS! James must really enjoy the character he is playing. Any General Hospital fans? Excited about the new addition?

James Franco For VMAN

I'll take him even with that stash! :)
VMAN celebrated its 15th issue with actor James Franco on the Fall 2009 cover.
Editor in Chief and founder of V and VMAN, Stephen Gan has nothing but nice things to say about the actor:
James Franco does not simply appear on the cover of this issue. He also, through a self-portrait of sorts, brings to our readers an impressive 10-page work of art within the magazine’s pages. It’s artistic, expressive, and worth seeing—both in print and as a moving image. I always like to think of VMAN as a fashion magazine for stylish and creative men who have an artistic side—James Franco is just that.
Who would think that an actor of his caliber would have such fantasies. He is an "artist" in every sense of the word, and very much a modern Renaissance man. I don't know that we've ever come across someone who so credibly rests one foot in Hollywood and one in the art world. For that reason I think this body of work is a milestone. Plus, his fascination with burning motorcycles, flamethrowers, and archers shooting flaming arrows…well it lends new meaning to the word, “Hot!”
Paris Hilton would be so proud. :)
What do you think of the shoot?

A 32 Minute Film Of James Franco Trashing A Room
Sooooo, here's the deal. There's a 32 minute short film called 'The Room Before and After' where James Franco walks in and literally trashes a room to pieces. That's the entire film - a half hour of James going nuts in this room.
What do you think about the concept? Is it art? Or is it nonsense?
James Franco Loves To Take The NYC Metro

James Franco might be a hot-shot movie star, but that doesn't mean he's above taking public transportation like the rest of us. He moved to NYC in 2008 and he's enthralled with the metro system!
I’d never really taken the subway before. I love it! The one thing is, I used to listen to a lot of audiobooks in my car in L.A., and now I don’t have that. I go to the Columbia library all the time—I’m enrolled in film school at Tisch and the creative writing program at Columbia. I could be stumbling out of, like, clubs, you know, but I’m not. Everybody used to come up to me in the library. Then I realized I was in the one room people are free to talk in. Now I go to the quiet room.
Nice to hear that James is one celebrity out there just acting like a regular Joe.
I guess it helps that he goes to Columbia where the students there are probably used to celebrity attendance by now. Maggie Gyllenhaal, Casey Affleck, Julia Stiles, Amanda Peet, Matthew Fox, Famke Janssen and Anna Paquin are among famous former students.

UCLA Students Protesting James Franco

Surprisingly enough, the students at UCLA have no love for James Franco who went there to get his undergrad degree in English. He graduated in '08 and has been invited back to be the key note speaker for graduation this year. But, folks are so riled up, they've started a Facebook page protesting the actor's presence.
“James Franco has been chosen as the speaker
for the College of Letters and Sciences Commencement Ceremony for 2009.
Clearly, this is ridiculous. Anyone who has been in his classes knows
he is an average student at UCLA. This is an accomplishment while
working in his industry, but he is our academic peer, which makes him
an inappropriate choice for a keynote speaker. His academic experiences
are too limited thus far to provide him with the wisdom and perspective
such a speaker is meant to provide to graduates,” the group wrote on
the social networking Web site. Adding, “Furthermore, we have worked
hard as academics for four years: his successes are (thus far)
completely irrelevant to that!”
Harsh words...but are they true? What do you think? Should James be allowed to give the keynote speech since he's done well for himself, albeit, outside the realm of his studies? Or is it absurd that the university didn't choose something with more academic range?

James Franco Grabbing Some Coffee
Cutie James Franco grabbed some coffee with a friend at Everyman Espresso in New York yesterday morning looking as handsome as ever. Anyone else have a bit of a crush on James? You'll be happy to know he's coming out with a new movie called "Howl" next year.
A drama centered on the obscenity trial Allen Ginsberg (Franco) faced after the publication of his poem, Howl.
It's a lot different from his last couple of films, but sounds like it'll be interesting and has a great cast including Paul Rudd, Mary-Louise Parker, and Jeff Daniels.
And as if the big screen wasn't enough, James also landed a BOOK DEAL! The actor has secured a deal with publishers Simon & Schuster to release a collection of short stories. How exciting for him!

Renee Zellweger And James Franco Are Hasty Pudding Theatrical Society's Man And Woman Of The Year

Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatrical
Society chooses a man and woman of the year every year and then makes them do wacky things on stage. Last year remember when Charlize Theron was on stage dressed as an elephant? Yeaaaah, this is why. :)
This year Renee Zellweger and James Franco will receive the top honor for the theatre group.
Zellweger will lead a parade through Harvard Square to the ceremony at
the university's New College Theatre on Thursday (05Feb09), while
Franco will collect his gong on 13 February (09).
Let's hope we find some good pictures of Renee's ceremony today. :)
