Jennifer Hudson Signs On For Her Next Film Role
Jennifer Hudson's next role will be quite something: she will play Winnie Mandela, the first wife of South Africa's first Black president, Nelson Mandela in a film called 'Winnie.' This should be a very interesting role because Winnie is a controversial figure.
While Nelson Mandela... is a universally sympathetic figure for his struggle against apartheid, his former wife is a far more complicated figure. She has been depicted as the mother and wife who was a steadfast supporter of her activist husband and who was jailed herself for campaigning for his release and fighting against apartheid. Her image was subsequently tarnished by association with a bodyguard who murdered a 14-year old alleged informer, and she was later convicted of fraud.
Jennifer was persuaded to play the part by the script.
"I was compelled and moved when I read the script," Hudson said. "Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told."
This certainly won't be a summer popcorn film. I wonder if Jennifer is looking for a Best Actress Oscar to go along with her Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in 'Dreamgirls'?

Jennifer Hudson Wants A Little Girl
Jennifer Hudson isn't wasting anytime: she gave birth to David only three months ago, but she's ready to give him at least one sibling.
"Maybe one more. I'd like to have at least one more, a little girl," Hudson, 27, tells Access Hollywood in an interview to be aired Wednesday night. "I want a girl and then maybe another one. You know, one baby at a time."
One thing Jennifer is positive about is where her children will call home: Chicago.
"Chicago would definitely be it because that is where all the family is," she says. "I feel like he should be surrounded by family. That's where the biggest support system is and if we live somewhere else, then we will have to bring the family wherever we are."

You have to wonder what Jennifer Hudson will do with the pictures she took of the paparazzi taking pictures of her. Will she print them? Email them around to her friends? Was it all for show? An attempt to send the photographers a "message" about how invasive the whole thing feels? I'm not so sure they care.

Celebrities Attend The 2009 Angel Ball
Jennifer Hudson, Blake Lively, Bar Refaeli, Penn Badgley, Natalie Cole, Howard Stern, Beth Ostrosky, Estelle and Alan Cumming attended the 2009 Angel Ball held at Cipriani Wall Street. The event, held by the Gabrielle's Angel Foundation, funds "basic and clinical medical research which primarily focuses on prevention, treatment and quality of life issues of leukemia, lymphoma and related cancers".
So nice to see such a variety of celebrities come out for such a great cause.

Jennifer Hudson Misses Eating For Two
Jennifer Hudson wishes she could carry on eating for two. The singer-and-actress – who gave birth to her son David in August – would love to continue eating as much as she did when she was pregnant but has been forced to “snap back” to a healthier diet to lose her baby weight. She told ETOnline:
"The trick is getting back into your old ways. If I could go around eating like I ate while I was pregnant, that'd be the way to go. But you have to snap back to it. It’s like an on and off switch, you have to go back to the norm.”
The 28-year-old star – who has the 10-week-old tot with her fiance, trainee wrestler David Otunga – loves being a mother and is amazed at how quickly her son is growing.
“He’s continually growing every day and getting smarter and cuter as the days go by. He tries to talk. He really tries and makes noises like, ‘Yaaaaaah’. Nothing comes out, but he really tries to talk. I’m just like, ‘Are you serious?’ He really tries. He’s adorable. I love him. He tries to smile too, and I love it, love it, love it.”
Thank goodness Jennifer is happy again. With everything that happened to her, it's nice to hear such positive things from the singer.
Jennifer Hudson Says Her Newborn Talks
Reading this made me smile: Jennifer Hudson says her newborn son is already talking, or trying to, at seven weeks!
She said: "He's a very rare newborn. He tries a lot - he's turning over, he's lifting up his own head, he tries to hold his own bottle, sometimes I swear he's talking to me, or at least trying to.
"The other day he said, 'Hi!' – I swear, I'm not crazy. David was there too, and he was like, 'He just said, Hi!' He's very aware."
Jennifer's already preparing for baby David's first Halloween.
"It's going to be ridiculous. I can't wait. His dad went and bought him some Halloween stuff the other night. I wish he was older so he could remember it, but this is the first one, so I have to go all out. It's going to be great."
Jennifer also thinks her son may be musically inclined.
"The other night he was having a fit screaming, and someone turns on the music and he just stops and calms down. Sometimes when he cries, I try to harmonise!"
Jennifer is every ounce the proud, first-time mom, isn't she?
