Ben Affleck Talks About Brother Casey's Documentary On Joaquin Phoenix

Ben Affleck talked to E! Daily 10 (7:30 pm ET/PT) about his brother Casey's documentary on Joaquin Phoenix's transition from acting to rapping. Ben definitely sounds supportive of Casey's directorial debut.
My brother is directing this documentary which is about Joaquin's um, you know shift from acting to music. I have seen some of the stuff. And I think this movie is going to be spectacular. My brother's going to prove to be quite a director and uh, it's hard to know you know... well I'll leave it at that."
If you're like me, and wondering how Casey became involved in all this, remember that Casey is married to Joaquin's sister. So do you consider Ben's comment more "verification" that Joaquin truly is quitting acting to pursue a rap career?

Joaquin Phoenix Gets Into Fight With Audience Member In Miami

Actor-turned-rapper Joaquin Phoenix jumped off the stage mid-way through an appearance at Liv night club at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel to confront a mouthy audience member. And there is a video!!
Seems like a heckler was in the audience trying to get a rise out of Joaquin... and he bit. You can see the artist hopping off the stage and actually physically confronting the man on the floor.
Was the guy a plant and this is all for the documentary? Or has Joaquin just had it with the nay sayers?

Joaquin Phoenix Wants To Be The Next Eminem

*Sigh. He is not going to stop talking about this until we all believe he's dead serious about becoming a singer.
Joaquin Phoenix says doing the movie Walk the Line was what actually motivated him to pursue music.
"I've always loved music and never really played
anything, and, after Walk The Line, I kind of learned to play guitar
and having that sense of performing, that certainly opened the door for
me for music. I think now I would just like the music to speak for itself. I don't
think we'll ever get to the reason, 'Oh, that's why he quit and
this is why he's doing this.' I don't fully understand it myself.
I've always followed my heart and felt what was true at the time and
that's what I'm doing now."
Well, he sounds honest. And he's not in it to make a commercial success and get rich quick, if that's what you're thinking.
"I'm not out to sell records. I'm experiencing something and it's
what I feel. I feel like everything in my life is leading up to this
and suddenly acting doesn't seem like that's a big part of what was
important in my life.
I imagine, when I look back on my life, acting will be just a very
small portion of something that I did, and I think music will be the
dominant theme in my life."
And when all was said and done, Joaquin was actually surprised by the fuss it caused when he quit acting!
"I didn't know that
anyone was gonna care. I felt that it was an obligation to tell my fans
what I was doing, moving in another direction."
Ashton Kutcher Wonders If Joaquin Phoenix Is "Punking" Us

After watching Joaquin Phoenix on The Letterman Show, Ashton Kutcher is not convinced that Joaquin's decision to quit acting and become a rapper is true: despite Joaquin's denials that it's a hoax.
'Is he acting?' Kutcher blogs on his Twitter page, adding that Phoenix's behavior feels 'a little strange.'
'I find it interesting that at the end of the interview, he takes his
glasses off and returns to shake Dave's hand again,' Kutcher writes."
Ashton thought it was odd because the interview itself reportedly appeared awkward. Who saw it?
Believe it or not, Joaquin was on Letterman to promote his new movie, Two Lovers, and the director of the film, James Gray, is "baffled" by his star's behavior. James said it was "obvious" during the filming that Joaquin was tired of acting, but there is apparently concern that Joaquin's behavior will turn people off from wanting to see Two Lovers.
What about you: are you still interested in seeing Two Lovers after seeing Joaquin in action for the last few weeks? Do you think this is all a PR stunt, like Ashton?

Joaquin Phoenix Doesn't Want To Be A Sex Symbol Anymore

So that's the reason behind the scruff! Mystery solved.
Joaquin Phoenix doesn't want to be seen as a sex symbol anymore. He's now going on record to tell the world why he's gone back to basics.
People have called me a sex symbol in the past, but it's very
much an effort. People know me as this kind of thing and in some ways I don't know that this
is my look. It's been important for me to just do something that's extreme - that really
separates me from that public Joaquin Phoenix persona, whatever the f***
that is.
Though there is one other option as to why he's disregarded he's looks completely. :)
Or maybe I'm just lazy.
What if it were a female celebrity who had just completely stopped with any superficial upkeep the way Joaquin has? Can you imagine the backlash?!?

Joaquin Phoenix Talks About His Rap Career

Joaquin Phoenix really wants us to buy into this whole rap career thing for him. Even though he's had friends confirm that we're all being punked, his rep says not so, that he's really making the transition.
And now Joaquin is addressing the rumors.
"There's not a hoax. Might I be ridiculous? Might my career in
music be laughable? Yeah, that's possible, but that's certainly not my
intention."
But, the criticism isn't too much for him because "true hip hop heads" respect what he's doing.
"My experience afterward was I had a lot of dudes come up and
say, 'We really respect you for doing it, putting yourself out there,
and going with it.' Because I think true hip-hop heads know that it's
hard, it's going to be a hard transition, and people are going to be
lining up just to make fun of me."
If it is a hoax, it's a pretty elaborate one and Joaquin is going to GREAT lengths to make us believe it. And if it's not a hoax...well, all you can really do is shake your head and laugh at how crazy Hollywood is, right?

Denial! Denial! Denial! Fox And Affleck Clear Up The Rumors
Two quick updates for INO readers:
- Megan Fox is NOT taking over Angelina Jolie's role in Tomb Raider. The actress is uninterested in following in Angie's footsteps.
A spokesperson for the star says, "Megan is not involved in this movie." - Casey Affleck says Joaquin Phoenix is the REAL DEAL! A rep for the actor INSISTS that the actor turned rapper has turned his back on the film industry. Full quote below:
"I believe the transition from one career to another is never smooth.
Unfortunately, Joaquin has had to make this transition in the spotlight
of fame.""He comes from a musical
family and won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his portrayal of Johnny
Cash. He intends to explore his musical interests despite speculative,
negative or positive reactions."
And so there you have it....
I still don't believe him.
