Joel Madden Talks About Naming His Son Sparrow
Joel Madden chose to call his son Sparrow because he wanted to make life hard for him. How... nice of him.
The Good Charlotte rocker knows his little boy is going to have a privileged upbringing so thought giving him an unusual name would teach him how to stand up for himself.
Joel – who also has a 21-month-old daughter Harlow with partner Nicole Richie – said:
“It reminded me of the Johnny Cash song ‘A Boy Named Sue’. My worry raising a son in Hollywood is, what will he have to struggle for? I wanted to give him a name that he’s going to have to stand up for. I love it, I think it’s a beautiful name.”
Joel also says he’s a amazed at how dedicated Nicole is to raising their family. He told Britain’s OK! magazine:
“While I’m working, it all piles on Nicole. She takes care of the kids, and it never gets to her. She doesn’t feel like she’s giving up anything – she is wholeheartedly their mom.”
That's nice to hear about Nicole... but what do you think about what Joel is saying about Sparrow?! LOL

No Truth To Nicole Richie / Joel Madden Marriage Rumor
Joel Madden has denied reports he has married Nicole Richie. The Good Charlotte rocker – who has two children, 21-month-old Harlow and six-week-old Sparrow with the reality TV star – insists claims the couple wed in a secret ceremony are false. He said on his band’s website:
"I keep getting emails from old friends and family asking about a wedding. NO we didn't get married."
Last week it was claimed the pair had secretly tied the knot in an intimate service after obtaining a marriage license. Speculation has been growing since Nicole and Joel registered Sparrow's birth.
Can you imagine getting emails from your friends and family yelling at you over something you didn't do? LOL!

Joel Madden Talks About His Love Of Kids
Joel Madden was being honored last night at the Nobel Awards for his work with The Art of Elysium. Although he humbly accepted the award, which was presented to him by Nicole Richie and her father, Lionel, he had this to say about it:
"They are just as much a part of it," he said. "Nicole does just as much as I do with Art of Elysium and all the charities we work with. And so does Benj – Benj actually does more then I do, and he plays the guitar better then I do, so he is a little more entertaining for the kids."
Joel also discussed his love of kids:
"I love kids, I love working with kids, I love being around kids," he said at the Noble Awards in Beverly Hills on Sunday.
When asked how Harlow was enjoying being a big sister to new brother Sparrow, Joel said she's doing great.
"She loves it. She's so happy, she's just psyched," he said. "She totally gets it. It fit in perfectly there – hasn't been a hitch."
Awww. There's something so great about a guy who openly gushes about enjoying charity work with kids and his love of his family. :)

Report: Nicole Richie And Joel Madden Secretly Married
Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have reportedly got married. According to website RadarOnline, the couple – who celebrated the birth of their second child, son Sparrow, last month – are rumored to have secretly tied the knot in an intimate service on Wednesday after obtaining a marriage license last week.
A spokesperson for the couple – who also have a 21-month-old daughter Harlow – is yet to comment on the reports but further speculation was fueled after Nicole and Joel registered Sparrow’s birth.
The little boy’s full name is listed Sparrow James Midnight Madden, while Harlow’s entire name is Harlow Winter Kate Richie Madden.
Some say DJ AM's death made Nicole rethink her stance on marriage.
"Nicole has never been in a rush to get married to Joel. She's so happy with him and their little family that she didn't feel the need to change the way things were between them.
"But when Adam died, she freaked out. She realized life is fragile and short. She doesn't want to have any regrets at all, and she does want to be Joel's wife."

Nicole Richie's Son Gets A Present From His Grandfather
It sounds like Lionel Richie is a very hands-on grandparent. He already has big plans for his new grandson, Sparrow. He got him a football helmet, saying it's never too early to get ready.
"I’ve already bought the baby a football helmet. They told me it wasn't time yet. Sparrow may not be a football playing name, but he'll get bruised somewhere in the game."
“I am so proud of Nicole and Joel. Nicole is the happiest woman ever. She is just in total control. I'm the one that's nervous!
"He looks just like Harlow. All babies sort of look the same as their siblings, but this is identical. When I hear the words Papa or Popi, forget about it. I was so happy when Harlow was born but now we have Sparrow – it’s just over the top!"
It sounds like Nicole Richie and Joel Madden will have to manage grandpa Lionel! Lionel says Harlow is enjoying being a big sister but that might change when she realizes he's staying! LOL

Will Joel Madden Open Up A Restaurant?
It sounds like Joel Madden might be considering a new profession. The Good Charlotte rocker told his followers on Twitter about his love for cooking and his need to explore the hobby a bit further.
"I should have a cooking show, or at least a cook book. I'm a damn good cook. I should have my own restaurant.”
Funny enough, just minutes later, Joel's culinary abilities failed him as he prepared lunch for his 17-month-old daughter Harlow.
"Made lunch for Harlow and burned my finger real bad!"
LOL! Even the greatest of chefs burn themselves every once in a while right?
If Joel gets his way, he will be very busy in the next few months.
In July, he revealed his plans to write a "meaningful" memoir.
Describing the book, the star said:
"It would be about my life. It would be about, mostly, the big changes in my life - kids, relationships, moving to Los Angeles - that I've gone through.
"I'm lightly working on one, but I don't want to put a book out there if it's not actually meaningful. I'm not going to go there unless I can deliver. If I put a book out, I want it to be something that matters to me. I want every page to mean something."
Let's stay tuned and see what he ends up doing. I would love to read some excerpts from his memoir. His band has a huge following - so I'm sure there is an audience.

Someone Tried To Sell Joel Madden... A Baby
This story is making me cringe and cry all at the same time. I cannot believe some little child is going through this right now.
Joel Madden was horrified when strangers tried to sell him a baby.
The Good Charlotte rocker was rendered speechless when he was offered a
human child in return for money. He
wrote on Twitter:
"Today some people in traffic tried to sell me a
baby. A live human baby. I didn't know what to say. I said a little prayer
for the kid. wow"It all happened so fast. I was trying to figure out if they were serious,
and i think when my reaction was not a good one, they just took off (sic)."
What would you do if someone tried to do this? I would absolutely 100% purchase the baby and then run right to the police. I mean, how utterly discusting that a human would DO THIS.
