Kate Winslet Wins Libel Suit
Remember when Kate Winslet sued the UK paper Daily Mail for saying she lied about her exercise regimen? Well, Kate won and was awarded $40,000 in damages.
"I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy," the 33-year-old mother of two said in a statement.
If you recall, Liz Jones of the Daily Mail wrote that Kate had "hollywooditis" and was lying about only doing 20 minutes of Pilates a day to stay slim.
The Daily Mail admitted the story was false, said they would publish an apology, and agreed to pay damages as well as Kate's legal fees.
"I am delighted that the Mail have apologized for making false allegations about me," Winslet said in the statement. "I was particularly upset to be accused of lying about my exercise regime, and felt that I had a responsibility to request an apology in order to demonstrate my commitment to the views that I have always expressed about body issues, including diet and exercise."
Clearly, Kate feels very strongly about this, and I can understand. No one wants to be called a liar! Does this resolution sound fair to you?

Kate Winslet Shopping in NYC
Kate Winslet was snapped out and about shopping in NYC today. She always looks so comfortable but stylish.
I wonder if Kate is enjoying some much-deserved time off. The only new project listed for her on IMDB is the "in development" Mildred Pierce. Not that it necessarily means she isn't busy working on something else!
I wonder what Kate thinks about James Cameron's announcement at Comic Con that Titanic will be getting "the 3D treatment"? I'm really excited about this. I don't even care if it's in 3D - just to have the chance to see it on the big screen again is exciting!

Kate Winslet Will Be Mildred Pierce
As if Kate Winslet doesn't have enough awards, it sounds like her latest project may very well get her some more! Kate is attached to star in the project 'Mildred Pierce,' which, yes, is based on the James M. Cain novel of the same name, according to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello.
The project, which is being shopped to cable (including HBO),
centers on a single mom struggling for independence during the Great
Depression.Mildred comes with some built-in awards cache: The 1945 film version netted Joan Crawford her first Academy Award."
This project is going to cable because producers are developing it as a five-hour miniseries rather than a feature film. Has anyone read the novel? Does this sound interesting to you?

Kate Winslet Is Ready To Be Done With Nude Scenes
Kate Winslet is comfortable with her body. She's made no secret of that. :) But, she says that she's getting to a stage in her life where she's about ready to be done with the nude scenes for films. She talked to Harper's Bazaar,
"If people are noticing my boobs in a movie and saying they do what real boobs do, then that's great. "I'll be 34 in October. I can't keep getting away with it. There was so much of it in The Reader because the story required it, but people have seen enough of my bum and my boobs. I have to put them back."
Kate adds that she never had wild child stage in the public eye.
"When everyone was out getting plastered, I didn't do all of that. I was working. I was doing life. Now that I look back, I feel very lucky. I've never taken drugs, never been offered cocaine."
And she wants to defuse that myth that celebrities are glam. They're not, they get wedgies too, haha!
Our knickers will still go up our ass at the most inappropriate moment. And we'll still want to flick them out, but you can't because someone is going to catch you." So what does one do? "Oh, I run behind pillars and things."

Kate Winslet Won't Live The Hollywood Life
On one hand...I so respect her for this. On the other hand...is she CRAZY!?!?
Kate Winslet says that she doesn't want her children to grow up spoiled.
"I don't have the perfect life. There are things I could implement
within my life that would probably make it easier. But I deliberately
don't do it because if I did, I would be living that movie star
existence that I really try and resist. "I mean, it's very tempting to
have a nanny and live in a gated community and have a chef - I'd love
to have a few dinners cooked for me. But I don't want that for my
children. "When they're older, if people say to them, 'Did you have a
chef?' I want them to be shocked by the question."
Look For Kate Winslet On Broadway Next
Kate Winslet is a wise one. She doesn't want to risk over-saturation so she's going to take a little time off from films before we see her face again. However, if you need your fix...you'll hopefully be able to find her doing some theatre acting.
"I think I have to take a holiday. I'm sick of me and I'm sure
everybody else is too!" But Kate – whose last two movies received
Academy Award nominations – admits she won't be able to stay away from
acting completely. She told to Britain’s 'Hello!' magazine: "I would
love to do some theatre. It would be a good challenge. I need to keep
scaring myself and that would sufficiently scare me. Maybe a musical or
something completely different."

Kate Winslet Wears Leonardo DiCaprio's Ring
That's a pretty intimate gesture, but Kate Winslet and her husband Sam Mendes have a rock solid relationship...so he shouldn't be jealous even though Kate wears an engraved ring that Leonardo Dicaprio gave her after doing 'Titanic' right next to her wedding ring.
Kate said,
"Yes, Leo’s ring is engraved on the inside, but I’m not going to tell you what it says."
So were Harry and Sally wrong? Are Kate and Leo proving that men and women really can have platonic friendships? :P
