Kimora Lee Simmons Hosts Grand Opening Of Manhattan's First JCPenney Store
On Friday, JCPenney opened the doors to their first Manhattan store and they did it big! Mayor Bloomberg presided over the opening ceremony, welcoming JCPenney to the shopping mecca that is Manhattan and acknowledging the many jobs that were created.
Kimora Lee Simmons was also on board to help kids from the Children's Aid Society shop for back-to-school goodies with $100 gift cards that they each received. Kimora, looking fabulous after having her third child a few months ago, led the group of children around the store, consulting them on which outfits worked for which child (she is so tall!). Her line, Fabulosity, is carried exclusively at JCPenney.
Some other brands I checked out were Bisou Bisou, I Heart Ronson and Nicole by Nicole Miller. And even though they're new, there's already crazy sales going on. You can get up to 50% off certain items right now.
JCPenney continues to celebrate their arrival with tons of fun events, open to all. They started things off with a fashion show, hosted by Jorge Ramon, in Greeley Square, showcasing the fall and back-to-school looks.
Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza will be there on August 1st at 1:30pm and David Cook intends to stop by on August 5th.
The new store is in the Manhattan Mall, located at 33rd St and 6th Ave.

If you're on Twitter, or even if you aren't, then you know Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou welcomed a baby boy on Saturday.
Now they have announced their son's name.

While Kimora Lee Simmons was sitting in her hospital bed having labor pains and dealing with contractions, she was Twittering away her experience for her fans! (see thumbnail).
The Baby Phat Fashion Line owner also had someone take a picture of her in between the pain. Looks pretty darn good for being in labor! LOL!

Kimora Lee Simmons & Djimon Hounsou Have Commitment Ceremony
News is just now breaking that Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou, who are expecting a child together, had a commitment ceremony. This ceremony reportedly occurred over the summer, when the couple was vising Djimon's native Benin, Africa.
'The couple is very happy and dedicated to each other one hundred percent,' Simmons' rep tells Us.
The source tells Us the couple -- currently expecting their
first child together -- went to Africa to meet Hounsou's family and
decided to have the traditional ceremony 'since they knew it was a
special opportunity to all be together.'The pair, who donned traditional garb, 'did it to show how committed to
each other they are in front of his family,' the source says,
emphasizing that it was not a wedding."
The source also empahsized tha the couple "are not engaged." I guess I can see why it wasn't announced last summer; Kimmora's divorce was not finalized from Russell Simmons until this past January. But I wonder why they're announcing it now?

UPDATE: Kimora Lee Simmons To Receive $40,000 A Month In Child Support
Wow. Things are really going well for Kimora Lee Simmons. She and Djimon Hounsou are expecting a child together this year, and the court just awarded her full custody of her girls, as well as ordered her ex husband Russell Simmons, to pay her $40,000 a month in child support until each one of her daughters turns 19. Ming is 9 and Aoki is 6.
Russell Simmons, the 51-year-old hip-hop
mogul, was granted visitation rights and must pay child support until
each daughter reaches 19 and a half years of age.The 33-year-old Kimora Lee Simmons has final say on whether her daughters appear on her reality TVshow “Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane.”
40k a month is a LOT of child support money. Then again, I'm sure those girls go to the best schools money can buy, and live in a very nice home. It takes a lot to maintain that kind of lifestyle. What do you think about this kind of monthly paycheck for Kimora?
UPDATE! Russell just released the following statement:
“I am reading these stories today about how a judge ordered me to pay Kimora $40,000 a month in child support and I want to make something very clear. Nothing was ordered, it was given. My kids have a fabulous life; they are exposed to a broad range of artistic and scholastic educational programs and I'm very happy to contribute to that. As long as I have it, they can have it. If I ever don't have it, I’m coming to live with them!”

Have you noticed that ever since Katy split from her boyfriend Travis McCoy, she is no longer bubbly on the red carpet. She rarely smiles anymore. I think she is still hurting from the break up.
