Love It Or Hate It: Leona Lewis

We saw Leona Lewis' interesting jumper on the red carpet for the arrivals for the 2009 MTV European Music Awards; now here's the dress she performed in (and walked the red carpet in after the show).
After performing for her first-ever concert in London, Leona says she has conquered her fear of the stage and is ready to go on a world tour.
"I wasn't nervous until I got to the side of the stage, then I started shaking. I felt it went so fast and now I just want to do it again. I can't wait to tour next year," said Lewis.
Good for her!
Now, what do you think of the dress? Clearly Leona chose to stick with black throughout the evening :) This dress just screams drama from top to bottom, doesn't it?
Love it or hate it?

Stars Arriving For MTV Europe Music Awards

The MTV Europe Music Awards are just getting underway in Berlin, Germany. A few red carpet arrivals included Shakira, Pete Wentz, Katy Perry, Juliette Lewis and more. They are all looking amazing! Check out Pete's eye makeup.
Katy Perry is serving as the host of the awards. Shakira and Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, and Beyonce are all scheduled to perform tonight.
I wonder if there's a way to watch these here in the states? This year's MTV awards show in NY was so good, I'm curious to see how it compares to the European ones?

Leona Lewis Is Keeping Things Positive After Fan Attack

Leona Lewis is staying positive after being attacked by a fan. The ‘Bleeding Love’ singer was left badly bruised after being punched in the face by a mentally imbalanced devotee, who had queued for hours to meet her at a London book signing two weeks ago.
Speaking about the incident for the first time, Leona said the incident was an unfortunate side effect of her success.
“It could have been worse. I'm still alive. It is just something you have to deal with when you have fame - and the positives far outweigh the negatives.
"I don't like to dwell on the negatives. I'm a very positive person."
Following the attack Peter Kowalczyk, 29 – himself a former contestant from ‘The X Factor’ – was detained by Leona’s security team and charged with the assault.
Peter was then sectioned under the Mental Health Act, and deemed unfit to appear at a hearing at a London court on Monday.
Leona – who canceled a promotional tour of Germany following the attack - also said she’s not going to go over the top and hire more security to protect her, as she already has enough people “looking out” for her. I guess she's gotten to that point in her career when she needs this. It's a sad but necessary truth.

Leona Lewis Has A Five Year Plan That Doesn't Involve Children
Leona Lewis doesn't want children for at least five years. The 'Happy' singer, 24, says she would love to become a mother at some point but is too busy concentrating on her career at the moment.
"In the future definitely, but not within five years. I can see myself being an older mother. But I probably haven't given it proper thought as it's so far in the distance. I am a family person. But I say that and I am career driven as well! It's like 50-50."
I love how people are already asking Leona about children. She is young and her career has just exploded. I'm sure there are other things on her mind at the moment.
Like for example, the thing that's on my mind right now is Leona's cropped top. I know the look is back. It's all over H&M and Topshop. I can't get into this trend because after two children... no one wants to see that shirt on me. But what do you think about the look? Do you own one? Are you planning on jumping on this 80s trend?

Leona Lewis Defends Electrician Boyfriend

Leona Lewis and her electrician boyfriend Lou Al-Chamaa started dating when the singer was 17 years old and before she found fame. Now that she's in the spotlight she's been receiving some flack about dating a guy who's an electrician. When asked about people's reactions to their romance, Leona defended their relationship and admitted she's a bit upset about the snide remarks.
"It does make me angry. Because he's a great person. And it doesn't matter what you do in life, what your job is, where you come from."
That is SO true. I think it's great that Leona has stayed with Al-Chamaa even after shooting to fame.
"This is real life, it isn't make believe. For people to think that you should leave someone because, all of a sudden, you're a singer and you have opportunities. I feel very sorry for them."
To help keep herself grounded Leona surrounds herself with people that knew her before she became famous. In fact, she still lives in the same neighborhood!
"All my friends I've known since I was really little. It's not that I don't let new people in," she says in the interview, "but I do feel safe with people that really know me, who know who I am."
Do you think it's the public place to look down on Leona for dating a man who works as an electrician?

Trouble Continues For Leona Lewis

Leona Lewis can't seem to catch a break. The ‘Bleeding Love’ singer – who was punched by a fan at a book signing last week - had ventured outside her London home for the first time since the attack yesterday when minders became concerned she was being tailed. Her spokesman said:
“She was being followed by about a dozen photographers and things were getting scary.
“She dived into the nearest police station, waited there for a while as things calmed down, then was able to continue on her way.”
Leona was at Grove Hall Garage in east London when she sought help from officers. A police spokesman confirmed:
“We were alerted at 2.30pm to a potentially dangerous situation outside the garage. Officers attended and escorted a 24-year-old woman to a place of safety.”
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell has given a track meant for Leona to Irish boy band Westlife. The music mogul decided the ballad, penned by Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean and OneRepublic star Ryan Tedder, was better suited to a male voice. AJ confirmed:
“Ryan and I wrote the song for the new Backstreet album, but it didn’t make it.
“When Simon heard it he loved it, and initially wanted it to go on the new Leona record. Then he decided it was more of a boy band song.”
I hope Leona gets her life back to normal. There is just too much negativity following her these days. She doesn't deserve this.
