Leona Lewis Says She Is 'A Next Door Diva'
Leona Lewis says she is a “good diva”. The British singer, who has a reputation for being one of the nicest people in pop, says she only has the good characteristics of a diva – which includes having a big voice.
“The term ‘diva’ has such a negative connotation, but I see myself as a kind of good diva. I’m a next-door diva.”
Leona insists she doesn’t make extravagant demands or make expensive purchases like many of her pop star contemporaries. In an interview with Petra magazine, Leona said:
“The biggest things I’ve bought are a house and my two cars. One of the cars is a Mini Cooper. But in Los Angeles I always drive a Hybrid Toyota Prius which is very environmentally friendly.”

Leona Lewis Celebrates Release Of 'Echo', Her Newest Album
ASICS and Leona Lewis celebrated the release of her new album 'Echo' at Hyde Lounge in West Hollywood last night. The singer admitted that becoming an overnight sensation does come with a few negative consequence. People can be cruel and mean spirited, but the entire process has made Leona a stronger person.
"I'm quite a sensitive person and I'm quite introvert, but I've learned that I'm stronger than I thought and I can take more than I thought I can. Sometimes I have to push myself, but like I am definitely stronger than I thought I was," the 24-year-old says.
I think in certain situations where you've had like negative comments or anything like that, usually that can like really effect you. And me especially because I'm really sensitive. I've just learned that for like that one percent that is bad, there's like 99 percent that's good and that's what you have to hang on to.
Leona also admitted that she is much more confident about 'Echo'.
I've had much more time with this album. I feel very passionate about all of the songs. I've put everything into this album.
And when asked about her first single, 'Happy', Leona said everyone could relate to the back story.
"Happy" didn't start off as something that was about a relationship. It just started off in general life — someone being like told to do this, and told to do that, and not really wanting to do that. But then it kind of just transcended into being able to be relatable to someone who's just been broken up with or who's broken up with someone to better themselves. It kind of turned into something that relates to everything.
Lastly, Leona admitted her biggest challenge:
Adjusting to the fact that people know you now a bit more. I've still kind of maintained a low profile but people still kind of recognize you and will come up to you and that's taken a bit of getting used to.

Love It Or Hate It: Leona Lewis
We saw Leona Lewis' interesting jumper on the red carpet for the arrivals for the 2009 MTV European Music Awards; now here's the dress she performed in (and walked the red carpet in after the show).
After performing for her first-ever concert in London, Leona says she has conquered her fear of the stage and is ready to go on a world tour.
"I wasn't nervous until I got to the side of the stage, then I started shaking. I felt it went so fast and now I just want to do it again. I can't wait to tour next year," said Lewis.
Good for her!
Now, what do you think of the dress? Clearly Leona chose to stick with black throughout the evening :) This dress just screams drama from top to bottom, doesn't it?

The MTV Europe Music Awards are just getting underway in Berlin, Germany. A few red carpet arrivals included Shakira, Pete Wentz, Katy Perry, Juliette Lewis and more. They are all looking amazing! Check out Pete's eye makeup.
Katy Perry is serving as the host of the awards. Shakira and Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, and Beyonce are all scheduled to perform tonight.
I wonder if there's a way to watch these here in the states? This year's MTV awards show in NY was so good, I'm curious to see how it compares to the European ones?
