Mariah Carey Shoots A New Music Video
When I first saw these pictures, I thought Mariah Carey had arrived to work dressed one way (see above) before getting into wardrobe for the video shoot. My first thought was, She dresses just to go to work!
Then I realized she's wearing pretty much the same outfit; a cropped jacket was added, but I'm pretty sure it's the same dress underneath.
This is a far cry from how she looks in 'Precious,' about which Mariah said:
"They totally changed me. I didn't want to look in the mirror. It was beyond dressing down because Lee Daniels loved to torture me. He really wanted me to not just look plain, he wanted me to look homely. That was his goal. He wanted a mustache and an under-the-eye thing and the bad hair. Now I see why he wanted it because people didn't recognize me and he didn't want me to take people out of the movie because they were seeing Mariah Carey."
Mariah certainly isn't a plain Jane; these pictures make that evident. The most eye-popping part of her outfit here for me? Check out those heels!

Mariah Carey Admits To Previous Abuse
Mariah Carey has been abused. The ‘Obsessed’ singer – who married actor-and-rapper Nick Cannon in 2008 - has spoken out about how she has been affected by the struggle she faced in previous relationships and hinted her ex-husband Tommy Mottola was responsible for her ordeal.
“Abuse has several categories. Emotionally, mentally, in other ways. I just think you get into a situation and you feel locked in. If your situation is similar to one of the situations I’ve been in, which I won’t harp on. For me, to really get out, it was difficult because there was a connection that was not only a marriage but a business thing where the person was in control of my life.”
Mariah wed music executive Tommy in 1993 after he signed her to the music label CBS Records. They separated just three years later and divorced in 1998.
The 40-year-old beauty also spoke out in support of ‘Rehab’ singer Rihanna, who was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown earlier this year following a pre-Grammy’s party. Mariah admitted she can empathize with the 21-year-old starlet’s experience of domestic abuse. She told Larry King:
"I was very sequestered, as you know, when I first started out and if I were just allowed to be young and with a young boyfriend who's also a star and you know, you're working and you're both — I don't know what goes on. You know what I mean? So it's like, I wasn't really allowed out of the house, so I can't imagine what she went through."
Meanwhile, the singer-turned-actress says she is desperate to have children with Nick, but is waiting for a gap in her career.
“Being pregnant would be the happiest thing in my life, but what I'm saying is right now with this movie ‘Precious’ coming out, with the next few singles from the album and those things that I'm doing, I need to focus on that because I cannot do the having-a-child thing halfway.”
I doubt Mariah will ever truly have an opening in her life long enough to make room for a child. That is one busy lady.

Mariah Carey Loves That Her Songs Help Troubled Fans
Mariah Carey uses “uplifting” songs to help troubled fans.
The ‘Hero’ hitmaker stars in ‘Precious’ - based on best-selling novel ‘Push’ about an obese teenager who has two children through incestuous rape - and believes her music has helped girls in similar situations to the main character.
"There are a lot of girls that I see at my shows that may fit the description of what people might think a 'Precious' girl is. When I sing certain songs, you really see that it brings out emotions in them.
“I see tears of gratitude or joy because they relate to the message. So that's why I continue to do songs that I feel will be uplifting."
Mariah – who plays a social worker in the film – said she could relate to the plight of the characters in ‘Push’, but it also made her more aware of other people’s suffering. She added to Parade magazine:
"I guess the button that the story pushed in me would be just empathy. I mean your heart has to go out to Precious because she is going through so much. It touched me as a woman. It touched me just as a person.
“It's like you think, 'Maybe I've walked past someone who is a girl like this and not really focused on them or just totally ignored them.'
“And it's also one of those things where you relate something in yourself, your own feelings of doubt and negativity. And while you haven't suffered nearly as much, you know what you've gone through is similar.”
I can't say this enough - this book was amazing. Horrible story but so moving. You will CRY and cry hard. I can't imagine how intense it will be in the theatre. At least with the book, you could put it down when it gets too difficult. You can't really do that if you go see this movie.
Mariah Carey's Dogs Have An Entourage
Mariah Carey’s dogs have their own entourage. The singer insisted having assistants on hand for her Jack Russell pooches Cha Cha and JJ while filming a recent commercial, but insists she is not a diva. She told Britain’s Hello! magazine:
“My puppies are starring in this ad with me, too. I had my team with me but the pups had a mini entourage of their own, of course! And why wouldn’t they? It was a big shoot and even my entourage had an entourage – my stylist had an assistant, my security had extra security.
“The shoot was based on the fact that some people think I’m a demanding diva. I have no idea why people have that impression!”
Mariah's security has security... LOL!!!
The ‘Fantasy’ singer has previously admitted to feeling baffled by her “demanding” reputation.
"I am baffled, shocked and appalled when I am called a diva. I've never done one diva-ish thing in my life. The actual definition of a diva is a woman who sings well.
"The secondary definition is a woman who is difficult to deal with. I hope I am the first, but I really don't think I am the second. I don't believe I am truly nasty and act in a bad way."

The 2009 AFI Festival 'Precious' Hollywood Premiere
I hope people go out and see this movie. I read the book (Push) many moons ago and it was tragic and unbelievable. A story that stays with you. A story that changes you.
Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon, Will Smith, Oprah, Tyler Perry, Olivia Wilde, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, Lisa Edelstein, Paula Abdul, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon and Mo'Nique attended the 'Precious' premiere at the AFI Film Festival over the weekend.

Mariah Carey Leaving The Copa... Copacabana
Oh man... now I'm going to have that song in my head allllll day! Here's Mariah Carey leaving the Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was in town to perform a few songs for 'Oi Fashion Rocks Brazil'. That girl can still hold a note like no one else!

Mariah Carey: Diva On Board
Now it's not like we haven't heard these rumors before. For some reason Mariah Carey is always surround by rumors that call her a diva. All I can say is that when there's smoke there's usually a fire....
“Her security is doing walk-throughs of her performance locations prior to her appearances, as if she’s the president or something,” said one person who was present at one such sweep.
It gets even worse when she's setting up for a performance at a venue!
“She’ll show up with more than a dozen people on her team, and she’s been asking that the people who actually work there are removed from the floor and only her staffers be present.”
But for some this diva-like behavior didn't come as a surprise.
“We were paying for her travel, her expenses, and yet she still wanted to be compensated nearly six figures just for hair and makeup,” said the source.
