When Matthew Fox Finishes 'Lost,' He's Done With Television

When Matthew Fox Finishes 'Lost,' He's Done With Television

Matthew Fox has shared some of his future plans with TV Guide: when 'Lost' ends next season, he is not doing anymore television shows.

"I am not going to do television again," Fox said. "That is not because
I think film is better than television. Not at all, in some respects
some of the best story telling is happening on television. I have done
two TV shows — Lost and Party of Five — that have
each run for six years. When you add it all up it is in the vicinity of
300 hours of television. I want to find a way to have more control over
when I am working and when I'm not. I'm looking for more flexibility."

But Matthew has good reason for feeling this way: he does have a family, remember ;)

"I am (43) and a father of two children, and I don't want to miss them
growing up," Fox said. "I don't want to find myself 10 years from now
feeling like I was an absentee father because I was so focused on my
career."

After he finishes shooting 'Lost,' Matthew said he plans to take six months off and then hopes to do one or two films a year.

Shooting television is supposed to be a real grind compared to shooting films, schedule-wise, and Matthew's probably earned enough money with 'Lost' that he can afford this.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to Matthew on the big screen or will you miss him too much on your little screen?

Celebrities Attend The Closing Ceremony For The 2009 Monte Carlo Television Festival

Celebrities Attend The Closing Ceremony For The 2009 Monte Carlo Television Festival

The red carpet was filled with Hollywood's favorites at the closing ceremonies for the 2009 Monte Carlo Television Festival. Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jamie Kennedy, Emily Deschanel, Kate Walsh, Sofa Milos, Matthew Fox, Kim Kardashian, and Lori Loughlin were among the participants for the night's activities.

Can we talk about Kate's hair? I L-O-V-E it. Suddenly, this actress has become fun and flirty. ADORABLE!

Matthew Fox Can't Wait For Lost To End

Matthew Fox Can't Wait For Lost To End

Blasphemy!!! How dare he say such a thing!!!

Matthew Fox is kind of over being on Lost. I mean, I understand, we all sometimes feel the need for a big change...but what about the fans, Matthew...think of the fans! He says, that the time has come for his family to have a fresh start somewhere off the island.

"It's been a great experience but myself and my family are really looking forward to moving on."

I'm sad just thinking about. How bad will you miss this show?!?

Lost's Matthew Fox Covers Details Magazine

Lost's Matthew Fox Covers Details Magazine

It's almost here: the beginning of a new season of LostMatthew Fox spoke to Details magazine in honor of the occasion for their January/February issue.  He's preparing himself for the end of this phenomenal series.

All of us knew that if the show was strung out indefinitely, it was
going to ruin the story
. It's not like a doctor drama, where you have a
new case each week."

I completely agree; I suspect that now the writers know when the show is ending, they can structure the story in the best way possible.  But Matthew doesn't mind that Lost will come to an end in 2010.

'Personally, it's a relief,'
he says. 'I owe this show a great amount, and I think it's exceptionally
good . . . [but] I am looking forward to the freedom that comes with not
working on one project professionally.' "

It sounds like he appreciates the career opportunities that have come with starring on a hit show, but he wants to challenge himself with those career opportunities.  Makes sense, right?

Matthew even gave a little teaser about the series finale ;)
