Update: "Balloon Boy" Dad Denies Incident Was A Hoax

Update: "Balloon Boy" Dad Denies Incident Was A Hoax

Okay, this falls under the heading of Completely Unbelievable. Now that all the legal stuff is over with (except actually serving the jail sentences), Richard Heene visited 'Larry King Live' to deny there was ever a hoax.

"We had searched the house, high and low," Heene said. "I knew he was in the craft…In my mind, in my mind there was no other place."

Richard said he only pled guilty to keep his wife, Mayumi, from facing deportation (which apparently could have happened if she had been convicted of a felony). Of course, if there was no hoax, there should've been no conviction, but people are wrongly convicted.

So how does Richard explain his son's statements about hiding in the attic "for the TV show"?

"I asked him why did you say that? What are you talking about? And he said a Japanese camera man holding a giant camera asked him to show him how he got into the attic for his TV show. That's why Falcon answered that."

"He didn't mean you were doing it for a proposed TV show?" King asked.

"No."

What?! Do you think Richard is actually hoping someone will believe this, or do you think he only cares about getting more camera time? I honestly can't even guess!

Update: Watch Richard explain in a 'Larry King Live' clip:

Mayumi Heene ("Balloon Boy" Mom) Admits It Was All A Hoax

Now this is just sad. Mayumi Heene, the mother of the boy who we all thought had gone missing in a hot air balloon, reportedly admitted to authorities it was all a hoax in an affidavit.

In the [affidavit], it says "Mayumi described that she and Richard Heene devised this hoax approximately two weeks earlier ... she and Richard had instructed their three children to lie to authorities as well as the media regarding this hoax."

The sheriff, Jim Alderden, reportedly is recommending that multiple charges be pressed against the parents, including contributing to the delinquency of a minor, conspiracy, filing false reports to authorities, and attempting to influence a public servant.

Fame isn't worth all this.
