Michael Phelps Will Not Face Drug Charges

I'm sure Olympian Michael Phelps is breathing a deep sigh of relief! Richland County, South Carolina Sheriff Leon Lott announced that his office will not file drug charges against Michael after the photo of him smoking from a bong became public.
'Michael Phelps is truly an American hero … but
even with his star status, he is still obligated to obey the laws of
our state,' Lott said
Michael has reportedly never disputed the photos authenticity, so why no charges? Especially since must still follow the law, despite being a star, according to Sheriff Lott?
No explanation is provided, so does anyone have a guess? Perhaps there are good legal reasons not to press charges, like... how could you actually prove there was marijuana in the bong? Suppose it was something else (that is legal) that Michael was smoking? I could see a defense attorney making that argument, and it would be valid!
So what do you think: has justice been served?

Subway Stands By Olympian Michael Phelps

Although Kellogg has dropped Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps, Subway has taken a different tact. Michael's picture has been removed from the sandwich chain's website, but they are keeping him on.
'Like most Americans, and like Michael Phelps himself, we were disappointed in his behavior,' Megan Driscoll, the rep for Subway, tells Usmagazine.com. 'Also like most Americans, we accept his apology. Moving forward, he remains in our plans.' "
Subway isn't the only chain sticking by Michael. Visa, Speedo, luxury Swiss watchmaker Omega, and athletic drink PureSports have not dropped the Olympic swimmer, either.

Kellogs Won't Extend Michael Phelps' Contract Because Of Marijuana Photo

The picture circulating of Michael Phelps with a bong is going to hurt him with one sponsor at least. Cereal giant, Kellogs, says they're done with the swimmer after the scandal.
"We originally built the relationship with Michael, as well as the
other Olympic athletes, to support our association with the U.S.
Olympic team," a company spokeswoman says in a statement. "Michael's
most recent behavior is not consistent with the image of Kellogg. His
contract expires at the end of February and we have made a decision not
to extend his contract."
Michael is also suspended from competition for three months, and won't receive any financial support from the U.S. Olympic Committee during that time. Phelps' rep says,
He "accepts these decisions and understands their point of view."
"He feels bad he let anyone down. He's also
encouraged by the thousands of comments he's received from his fans and
the support from his many sponsors. He intends to work hard to regain
everyone's trust."
Is Kellogs making the right decision here, or should they give him another chance?

Michael Phelps Apologizes For Drug Use

After the shocking release of a photo of Michael Phelps smoking weed was released to the public via News of the World he issued this statement:
"I engaged in behavior which was
regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I'm 23 years old and despite
the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and
inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me.
For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not
happen again."
It is true that he's ONLY 23 and probably a lot younger mentally since he worked constantly in order to get ready for the Olympics, but does that excuse the bad example he set for his younger fans?
This goes to show you that some of the blind items are true!
Michael Phelps Found An Interesting Girlfriend

Okay, I admit, when I heard the amazing Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps' new girlfriend was a Las Vegas cocktail waitress, I was, well, pretty surprised. Especially when I heard that he took her home for the holidays to meet his family. It turns out there's more to Carolyn "Caz" Pal than meets the eye.
Her high school classmates reveal that she's the last person they thought would end up in Vegas!
'She was a sweet girl, but she was a nerd,' says a friend from Caz's
days at Victor Valley High School in Victorville, Calif. 'She was
president of our freshman class and a real go-getter with excellent
grades. The last thing I ever imagined her doing was becoming a
cocktail waitress in Las Vegas!' "
Really?! Caz had a very different dream for herself when she was graduating, according to what she wrote in her high school yearbook.
'Carolynn hopes to have a scholarship to get her into a good college.
After college, she hopes to get a good job and lead a good life,' she
wrote."
Then she took off for Vegas, posed for some risque photos, and, as one high school friend told Star, "I was shocked when I was told she had had a boob job!"
(And of course, this is from Star, so who knows what's true and what's not?)
Now I guess people are shocked again that Caz is dating an athlete so talented he made history at the Olympics! This 26-year-old is having quite a life so far.
And maybe it was her "sweet" but "nerd" ways that appealed to Michael? What do you think?

Michael Phelps Joins Cast Of Entourage

Athletes peak and retire at a young age, so they better have a backup plan. Fortunately for Michael Phelps, he does...become an actor and join a hit TV show!
Michael has been offered a recurring role on Entourage. He's playing himself.
After shooting one scene, Jeremy Pivens said,
"I could see him coming back as one of the
boys. I can see (my character) Ari being very aggressive in recruiting
him to represent him and also stopping at nothing to poach him from
another client. That's what Ari would do."
And the producer of the show, Doug Ellin, talks about how crazy it was while they were filming,
"It was the coolest thing in the world. When he showed up,
I'm not exaggerating, city buses stopped and people started yelling and
within five minutes we couldn't even shoot."
