Celebrities Attend The 2009 Angel Ball
Jennifer Hudson, Blake Lively, Bar Refaeli, Penn Badgley, Natalie Cole, Howard Stern, Beth Ostrosky, Estelle and Alan Cumming attended the 2009 Angel Ball held at Cipriani Wall Street. The event, held by the Gabrielle's Angel Foundation, funds "basic and clinical medical research which primarily focuses on prevention, treatment and quality of life issues of leukemia, lymphoma and related cancers".
So nice to see such a variety of celebrities come out for such a great cause.

Natalie Cole's Sister Died During Natalie's Kidney Transplant
What a terrible mixture of joy and tragedy the Cole family must be experiencing! Natalie Cole was notified that a kidney was available for her while she was at the bedside of her sister, Carole "Cookie" Cole, who had been diagnosed with lung cancer the week before.
[Natalie] said, 'What do you mean? I can't deal with that right now! I'm here
with my dying sister!' Natalie's other sister, Timolin Cole, tells
the New York Post. 'And they said to her, 'No, ma'am. We've got to do it now. You've got to be at Cedars-Sinai in two hours.''I told her, 'Natalie, this is God's gift, and you've got to go now. Cookie would want this for you.' "
Cookie reportedly died during Natalie's surgery. Timolin said: "This is all so surreal, and it's devastating."
Can you imagine being in a situation like that?

Natalie Cole Undergoes Kidney Transplant

Singer Natalie Cole has been on kidney dialysis three times a week since last September while on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. She suffers from Hepatitis C. Natalie reportedly received a kidney from the regional organ procurement agency, One Legacy. Natalie said she "wasn't looking forward" to the surgery but had accepted it.
'Things happen for a reason, I've always been kind of a survivor type of girl,' she said. 'I'm strong, I have a lot of faith. I'm looking forward to having a good year. In spite of the health issues, I think I'm going to be fine.' "
Physicians have reportedly advised Natalie to postpone her summer tour dates for the Still Unforgettable tour so she can recuperate.
Hopefully that recuperation will go smoothly!
