Natalie Imbruglia says she can "lean" towards depression. Is it so very New York of me to think that everyone has some form of depression? I don't know a single person who doesn't battle with spouts of it every now and then. We all have our down moments right?
The Australian star, who plays a depressed woman in new film 'Closed for Winter', found it easy to identify with her character Elise Silverton because they share similar personality traits.
"For all my strength, I also have that vulnerable side. There's something - a melancholy, I guess. Sometimes I get a bit down. I see it in a couple of my sisters, too. We can lean towards that, that melancholy, but we also have the ability to pull ourselves out of it, and some people just don't. That's the difference."
Natalie also admitted to Australia's Sydney Morning Herald newspaper that she didn't feel worthy of all the success her debut album 'Left of the Middle' brought her.
"I think I just went a bit strange. I've always had periods in my life where I've wanted to isolate myself. I just wanted to learn my craft in private and the way it happened, it was all wrong. It was not how I had it planned. You're not meant to get success with the first single you release. I was consumed with fear."
Glad she can separate away from the melancholy as Natalie is such an amazing artist. She should enjoy her successes.

She went back to brown!! Thank goodness! I hate to say this, but I was not a fan of Natalie Imbruglia with blonde hair. It just didn't suit her like a darker do does.
Here she is stepping out in London, England.

Still not used to the blonde. I have to be honest here. It took me a moment to register that these pictures were of Natalie Imbruglia. It's almost as if the old darker short do was her signature look right?
Here she is leaving London's Movida Night Club early in the morning with a group of her friends.

When Nelly Furtado went this light, I almost fell off my chair. Now Natalie Imbruglia has decided to go blonde and I don't know if I can handle the new look. Here she is on the red carpet of the Virgin Unite's Mad Hatter Ball in Toronto, Canada. What do you think about her lighter do? Do you find that it ages her?

Natalie Imbruglia says suffering makes her more creative. Any artist would tell you the same I suppose. She promises a wonderful fifth album because the music will be coming from the hurt and sorrow that she is feeling while going through this divorce.
"After a break from songwriting, my life experiences have really helped me to be more creative. I think when it comes to creativity, I am more inspired by suffering than happiness."
Imbruglia wrote her 1998 debut, Left of the Middle, about a broken heart and it went on to be a major international success. Her two subsequent albums, made while she was happily married, have failed to emulate the success of her first record - debuting in the U.K. at number three and 12 respectively.

Thanks Ashley!

"We want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends. This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly. However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us. We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together. We have issued this statement to set the record straight and to eliminate any need for speculation."Click on the thumbnails to enlarge pictures of Natalie launching the David Jones clearance sale.
