Natalie Portman: Trailer For 'Brothers'

This looks intense! Here's a first look at the new trailer for 'Brothers' starring Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire. All three are amazing actors, so I would imagine this is going to be terrific. It will be out on December 4th.

Natalie Portman Doesn't Mind If She Sucks

Natalie Portman opens up in this month's issue of V Magazine about her work, her future, and her wild ways we never knew about.
Natalie believes that she is taken more seriously as an actress because she was sowing her wild oats before the days of social networking and blogs.
"The formative time of my public image happened before there was Facebook, Twitter and all of these gossip sites. I had my drunken nights and dating a million people, but there wasn't that attention then."
She shared that she doesn't mind when people think her acting sucks - it inspires her to try harder. Critics had panned her performance in the Star Wars trilogy but she didn't let it get to her in a negative way.
"my acting was not exactly respected in those films", she admits with a nervous laugh. "but those are the moments when you want to prove yourself again. When people think I suck, it helps."
Natalie just signed on to begin working with Darren Aronofsky on Black Swan. She's no longer shying away from nudity, as the movie contains a serious lesbian sex scene.
"it's not raunchy - it's extreme" she says
She's also making sure she has plenty to keep her busy if her acting career dries up. She runs her own production company, is an ambassador for Finca International and is also working on setting up a website called MakingOf.com, which will take viewers behind the scenes of famous movies. Whew, that should keep her on her toes for a long time to come!
She is next starring in the film Brothers, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire, which is due out December 4th.

Natalie Portman Has Very Strong Opinions About Meat Eating

Natalie Portman recently read the book Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer and it really opened her eyes, changing her from being "just" a vegetarian to a vegan activist. She wrote an article for The Huffington Post to talk about the book and her thoughts on meat-eating.
The human cost of factory farming -- both the compromised welfare of slaughterhouse workers and, even more, the environmental effects of the mass production of animals -- is staggering.
One of the more "shocking" things that she has to say is comparing meat eating with rape.
he reminds us that being a man, and a human, takes more thought than just "This is tasty, and that's why I do it." He posits that consideration, as promoted in The Omnivore's Dilemma, which has more to do with being polite to your tablemates than sticking to your own ideals, would be absurd if applied to any other belief (e.g., I don't believe in rape, but if it's what it takes to please my dinner hosts, then so be it).
I understand she's trying to make a point and it's something she's passionate about. Do you think she went a little overboard with the way she worded it? Have you read the book? What did you think?

Natalie Portman Admits To Cutting Herself As A Teen

Natalie Portman cut herself as a teenager. The 28-year-old actress has revealed playing a girl who died in 1995 gangster movie ‘Heat’ had a profound effect on her, resulting in her harming herself after an argument with her mother. She told the Los Angeles Times newspaper:
“Just as what you are feeling in your life affects your acting, what you act in definitely affects what you are feeling in your life.
“I made 'Heat' when I was 14 and played a girl who died. A year later, I got into a fight with my mother and cut myself. I had never done it before and I never did it after that, but I think having my wrists bloody in a movie definitely affected my psyche.”
Natalie revealed acting has always scared her as she is constantly worried people won’t find her performances believable. She is planning to focus on directing films in the future, but admits the prospect is equally as terrifying.
“I really love directing. Fear is intrinsic to everything you do as a creative person. You're constantly putting yourself up there to be trashed. If I thought about it too much, I'd just be crippled. I'd rather create.”
Natalie definitely has pull at the box office as an actor, but would you feel inclined to see a movie that she directed? Should actors stick to being actors? Or is transitioning into direction a natural thing to do?

Love It Or Hate It: Natalie Portman

Here's Natalie Portman at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of her new film, 'Love and Other Impossible Pursuits.' Lisa Kudrow co-stars in the film.
Natalie always has such an elegant style: what do you think of this dress, especially the large flower in the front? She certainly can wear a bubble skirt well!

Natalie Portman Is A Fan Of Hip Hop

Natalie Portman loves listening to “really obscene hip-hop”.
Being quizzed by her ‘Brothers’ co-star Jake Gyllenhaal for Interview magazine, she said:
“In my current state… I’m trying to think of a song that feels like sleepwalking. I don’t know. I’ve mostly been listening to dirty rap lately. That’s sort of my scene.
“Really, really obscene hip-hop. I love it so much. It makes me laugh and then it makes me want to dance. Those are like my two favorite things, so combined it’s great.I’ve been listening to ‘Wait (The Whisper Song)’ by the Ying Yang Twins a lot lately, where the lyrics are like, ‘Wait ’til you see my d**k’ - which is just amazing because it’s whispered. I listen to it like I’m a five-year-old, like, ‘Oh my God! I can’t believe he just said that!’ ”
Natalie? I would have never thunk it! LOL!
Anyone else a fan of "really obscene hip-hop"?
