Sharing Baby North’s Couture Christmas!

kim kardashian shares nori's gifts (1)

We told you before how baby North West was having a couture Christmas. Mama Kim Kardashian shared the pictures on Instagram. Nori had an enviable Christmas haul for her first holiday! Stella McCartney sent Nori some adorable dresses. Charlotte Olympia sent some kitty shoes. Michael Coste and Hermes Paris sent the chicest baby blanket and shoe set I have EVER seen. Giuseppe also sent some seriously stylish footwear.

We already knew Kim and Kanye West would keep their baby outfitted in chic clothes. They’re getting some great help from their fashion friends! Now we just need some pictures of Nori in her presents, right?

Are The Kardashians Fading?

kim kardashian (1)

The NY Post seems thrilled to pronounce the imminent downfall of the Kardashian clan. The Post is basing this claim on two troubling things: sinking TV ratings for their reality TV show ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ and the fact that magazines with Kardashians on the cover aren’t selling like they used to. A magazine publisher told the Post:

“It’s over. The fatigue factor has really set in. None of the Kardashians, either alone or together, is selling.”

Us Weekly reportedly paid $110,000 to re-touch the cover of Kim flaunting her post-baby body in a bikini. Yet that issue sold fewer than 400,000 copies, when it normally sells about 500,000. In Touch reportedly dropped 70,000 copies from its weekly average when a Kardashian was on the cover, and Life & Style dropped by 50,000 with a Kardashian cover. Oh boy. A publisher blames the Kardashians’ downfall to Kim Kardashian’s relationship with Kanye West.

“I think it’s because Kanye West is so nasty and aggressive. People don’t like him. It’s rubbed off on Kim. It’s rubbed off on the whole family.”

That’s a surprising idea. Say what you will about Kanye, but he’s at least he’s a genuine celebrity. Another PR person had a different explanation for the Kardashian’s fading popularity.

“It’s simple — overkill. The Kardashians are everywhere. They never take a break.”

That sounds about right to me. After a while, it doesn’t matter what a celeb is doing: when we see them all the time, it feels like the same-old, same old. What do you think: will we see the Kardashians fade away in 2014?

Indulging In Some Retail Therapy

khloe kardashian (1)

Khloe Kardashian can’t be having the greatest Christmas. She filed for divorce from Lamar Odom just last Friday. It seems like Khloe really did all she could to make her marriage work, so the decision probably wasn’t easy for her. Khloe tweeted this a couple of days ago:

This, in and of itself, is heart breaking and torture to my soul. Please, I don’t need the extra rumors and BS right now.

It looks like Khloe decided to engage in a time-honored tradition to lift her spirits yesterday: retail therapy! Paparazzi caught up with her as she was heading into a shop. Hopefully she treated herself to something instead of just buying a present for someone else. Here’s to hoping 2014 is a better year for Khloe!

‘Duck Dynasty’ Clan Pushes Back At A&E

Have you been following the controversy surrounding A&E’s reality TV show ‘Duck Dynasty’? ‘Duck Dynasty’ follows a conservative southern family, the Robertson. The patriarch of the clan, Phil Robertson, shared his views with GQ in their January 2014 issue. He’s very religious and shared his views that homosexuality is a sin. GLAAD found his comments offensive, and A&E suspended Phil “indefinitely” from the show. Now the Robertson family has released a statement on their website.

We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

Oh boy. I’m sure the Robertson family signed contracts, so this could get very messy, indeed. Some are arguing that Phil has the right to express his views under the First Amendment (freedom of speech). This is a tough situation. Is there a difference between saying “homosexuality goes against my religious beliefs?” and comparing homosexuality to bestiality, which Phil seemed to do in his interview? I’m guessing Phil will be back on the air, repenting for offending people while making it clear these are his beliefs. I’ve gotta ask…

‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Suspended After Anti-Gay Comments

phil robertson & duck dynasty (1)

Did you read our excerpts from ‘Duck Dynasty’ star Phil Robertson’s GQ interview? INO posted it yesterday. Turns out we weren’t the only ones surprised by some of his comments: so was A&E, the network that airs ‘Duck Dynasty.’ After GLAAD responded to Phil’s comments categorizing homosexuals with alcoholics or terrorists and likening homosexuality to bestiality, A&E suspended Phil from the show. The network released this statement:

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A&E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

When People reached out to Phil for a comment in response to A&E’s suspension, he gave them this statement:

“My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity.”

I can’t say I blame A&E for taking this step. The cynical side of me, however, suspects he’ll be back on the show by next season. At least the message has been sent that homophobic comments, even made under the guise of “expressing personal beliefs” aren’t okay!

Dishing The Dirt With GQ

duck dynasty gq

Have you been watching the reality TV show ‘Duck Dynasty’? If you have, then the January 2014 issue of GQ has a treat for you! The cast sat down with the magazine and dished the dirt. Seriously. They talked about faith, politics, sin, and, of course, the future of ‘Duck Dynasty.’ Here are some excerpts of their GQ interview:

Phil Robertson on his family and their faith: “We’re Bible-thumpers who just happened to end up on television… You put in your article that the Robertson family really believes strongly that if the human race loved each other and they loved God, we would just be better off. We ought to just be repentant, turn to God, and let’s get on with it, and everything will turn around.”

…on sin: “Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong… Sin becomes fine.”

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

“It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

…on his past life: During Phil’s darkest days, in the early 1970s, he had to flee the state of Arkansas after he badly beat up a bar owner and the guy’s wife. Kay Robertson persuaded the bar owner not to press charges in exchange for most of the Robertsons’ life savings. (“A hefty price,” he notes in his memoir.) I ask Phil if he ever repented for that, as he wants America to repent—if he ever tracked down the bar owner and his wife to apologize for the assault. He shakes his head.

“I didn’t dredge anything back up. I just put it behind me.”

As far as Phil is concerned, he was literally born again. Old Phil—the guy with the booze and the pills—died a long time ago, and New Phil sees no need to apologize for him: “We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”

…on the future of the show: “Let’s face it,” he says. “Three, four, five years, we’re out of here. You know what I’m saying? It’s a TV show. This thing ain’t gonna last forever. No way.”

…on sacrificing their privacy in order to spread the good word: “For the sake of the Gospel, it was worth it… All you have to do is look at any society where there is no Jesus. I’ll give you four: Nazis, no Jesus. Look at their record. Uh, Shintos? They started this thing in Pearl Harbor. Any Jesus among them? None.

I admit, I’ve never seen ‘Duck Dynasty.’ This guy seems interesting. You can read the entire interview in the January issue of GQ, which hits newsstands on Christmas Eve, December 24.

Mother-Daughter Day Out!

kim kardashian (1)

OMG! How cute is baby North West? Proud mama Kim Kardashian posted a picture of her adorable mini-me on twitter and Instagram yesterday. Say what you will about Kim and Kanye West, but they have one good-looking baby! Something tells me we’re looking at a future celeb ;).

If Kim’s goal was to lessen paparazzi interest, however, it didn’t work out so well. She stepped out yesterday with baby Nori in a pram. The mother-daughter duo got mobbed by paparazzi, even if they didn’t get a picture of the baby. I give Kim points for bravery. I’d be terrified to take a baby out if I got all the paparazzi attention she gets! They can’t live trapped inside, though.
