It's always shock value with PETA isn't it? I understand the group wants to get some press time to help their cause, but isn't there another way? The animal rights group People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are offering Sharon Stone a free brain scan... in an effort to improve her compassion.
PETA President Ingrid Newkirk has written to the movie star, suggesting her refusal to stop wearing fur and recent ill-advised comments she made about the Chinese earthquake could be symptoms of an underdeveloped brain.
In her letter, Newkirk writes,
"Given that millions of people… were killed, injured, and left homeless by the recent earthquake in China, everyone was shocked to hear you dismiss the devastating effects of this disaster. However, your cavalier attitude did not come as a surprise to us. We are used to the indifference that you flaunt and the callous remarks that you make about the suffering and death of the animals whose fur you wear so often.
"Scientific studies suggest that the prefrontal regions of the brains of people who lack empathy might be underdeveloped. Here’s our offer: Would you allow PETA to pay for a scan of the prefrontal region of your brain to determine if comments and actions that seem to demonstrate a lack of empathy are the result of a physical defect?"
In case you forgot, Sharon suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2001 but has since fought her way back to health.

I know a lot of you were really upset about what Sharon Stone had to say on the earthquake in China and how it was "karma". So you might be happy to hear that Sharon has issued an apology through Dior China and that they will be pulling all their ads that feature the controversial actress.
"In light of Sharon Stone’s inappropriate comments and their negative impact, Dior China has decided to withdraw [her ads] immediately and stop using Sharon Stone’s image in any advertising, marketing and commercial activities. Dior is one of the international brands that entered China early and has won consumers’ respect and loyalty. We absolutely won’t support any comments that hurt Chinese people’s feelings."
Sharon herself said,
"In the course of the interview I made inappropriate remarks and for any harm created towards the Chinese people I am extremely sad and apologize."
Hmmm, what caused these problems for Sharon...could it be a little word that starts with a K and ends in arma? :P I kid, I kid!

Sharon Stone always keeps it interesting...you never know what's going to come out of her mouth! When she was at Cannes, a reporter asked her what she thought about the earthquake in China. Her response was that it was karma coming back around. Ummm....WHAT?!?
"Well you know it was very interesting because at first I thought I'm not happy with the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else. And so I have very concerned about how to think and what to do about that because I don't like that."
She goes on to talk about her buddy the Dalai Lama,
And then I’ve been, you know, I've been concerned about, oh, who should we deal with the Olympics because they're not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who’s a good friend of mine. And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened and I thought, 'Is that Karma, when you’re not nice and the bad things happen to you?'"

Can it get anymore powerful on the red carpet? Madonna and Sharon Stone both have left quite the mark on their respected industries. So what a pleasure it is to see such beautiful women sharing the red carpet at The 2008 Cannes Film Festival. The ladies attended day 8's 'I Am Because' premiere.
PS - I just had to use the windy picture. They both look like they are having so much fun in it.
