Celebrities Attend Sony's Windows 7 Launch

Any PC fans excited about the new Windows 7 launch? Truthfully, I'm not one to run out and upgrade operating systems. If it ain't broken... right? However, if you talk to tech people, they say that it's a much better product and worth the effort. I'll see how it goes over the next few weeks and make my decision then.
Microsoft invited a variety of celebrities to attend the launch celebration for three new Sony VAIO products and the Windows 7 operating system at Guastavino's in New York City. And when I say variety - I mean it.
Mischa Barton, Star Jones, Christian Siriano, Jill Zarin, Gretta Monahan, Nigel Barker, and Peter Facinelli to name a few.

Star Jones Starts Her Own Blog

I almost don't believe that this is Star Jones' blog because it is on blogspot. You would think that a TV personality and someone with Star's money would hire someone to build her a proper website.
But let's assume it IS her website unless we hear differently later on today. Check out the intro paragraph:
I created this blog on the occasion of my 47th Birthday to celebrate what is blessed, good, smart, stimulating, interesting, inspiring, fun, joyous and positive in my life, my community, our country and our world. I vow to only elevate those thoughts, words and deeds of my gender and my race that are examples of excellence and something we can all aspire to! Happy Birthday to me!
I read quite a few of her past entries and Star is a very religious woman. Sometimes she posts quotes from the bible and reacts to them, other times she asks readers to write comments about what they are thankful for. It all seems very positive. On occasion, she talks about what she is doing professionally, but I am not so sure that is the main point of the blog like other celebrity websites.
I think Star is using this blog as blogs were originally intended- as an outlet or an online form of expression. She's probably really enjoying herself. Good for her!

Star Jones And Rosie O'Donnell Do Lunch For Charity

Quick: look outside the window for winged pigs! The View alums Star Jones and Rosie O'Donnell have decided to put their longstanding feud behind them and auction off a lunch (with the two of them) for the Figure Skating in Harlem "Skating with the Stars" gala.
The lunch should be interesting: O'Donnell famously called Jones
"delusional" in 2006 for telling fans she lost weight through exercise
and diet alone. Jones -- who was replaced by O'Donnell on The View -- later admitted she had gastric bypass surgery. The auction winner and a guest will be able to ask Jones and O'Donnell any questions they want. The prize is good for one year."
Good for them for putting their differences aside for charity! What would you pay for that lunch?

Star Jones Opens Up

I knew this day would come. After Star Jones' last couple of years on The View, from her elaborate wedding to her amazing (and mostly unexplained) weight loss to her, um, memorable exit from the show, I knew that one day, we'd hear Star's side of the story. She finally opened up to Oprah Winfrey.
'I'm still 300 lbs. in my head some days,' the lawyer and TV personality, 47, tells Oprah Winfrey on Wednesday's Oprah.
'I was a little late getting up [today], and I'm always up at 6:00 a.m.
But I realized that we were gonna talk about this and it scared me a
bit.'Pressed by Winfrey about what scared her,
Jones responds, 'Disappointing people. I was ashamed … That's the word
that is actually the real word. I was ashamed that I couldn't control
my weight, that I was an addict for all practical purposes, that I had
never stuck to a real diet, that I'd never stuck to a real exercise
program.' "
Star also responded to Barbara Walters, who said that part of the reason Star's popularity took a dip and she was let go from The View was because of her refusal to discuss how she was losing weight.
'I was hurt and upset initially.'
Now, however, she says, 'I'm so sorry that I placed a burden on
my colleagues. I never asked them to lie and don't know where the
Pilates and portion control' – an explanation for her dramatic
weight-loss that circulated at the time – 'came from. I think a tabloid
actually wrote that.'"
I've always thought of Star as a perfect example of the double-edge sword of living in the public eye. Whatever you may think of her, her weight issue was clearly a very sensitive topic, and for her to lose her job because she didn't want to share it with the world makes sense (given the nature of her job), but it just seems really tough.

The BET Honors Second Annual Black Entertainment Awards

The BET Honors Second Annual Black Entertainment Awards were held in Washington DC over the weekend. Fan favorites like Ne Yo, Queen Latifah, Angela Bassett, Gabrielle Union, Monica, Star Jones, and my personal favorite Mary J Blige were in attendance.
While growing up, did you have an artist that you totally related to? Like everything they wrote make sense to you? That was Mary for me. I knew her first few albums front and back!
And for all Ne Yo fans out there, I have some personal information about him. My old high school friend who I recently just reconnected with works for Def Jam. She's the girl that travels with the artists and makes sure they keep on their schedules and are "happy" at all times. Ne Yo is one of her responsibilities and she says he is the nicest person. Totally unaffected, doesn't abuse staff, truly grateful and a great person to be around... even after a 15 hour flight. I thought that was nice to hear considering I LOVE him. Just wanted to pass the word around.

Star Jones Getting A Divorce

The National Enquirer reported it back in March and now it is official. Star Jones has released the following statement regarding her split from husband, Al Reynolds.
"Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce. The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone's life that requires privacy with one's thoughts. I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman."
Star Jones Getting A Divorce

Big Al and Star Jones are calling it quits. Anyone shocked? How can your union be successful if it began with a corporate sponsored wedding? That. Was. Crazy. There has also been this nasty little rumor that Al plays for the other team and only married Star for her $$. I personally have no experience with either one of them so couldn't speak to that.
The National Enquirer is reporting Star gave Al 30 days to get his act together or it was over. Guess it wasn't enough time.
"They hadn't been seeing eye to eye for months and had already spent a great deal of time apart," a friend of the couple told the Enquirer. "Finally, Star decided it was over. She told Al at the end of January that he had 30 days to get his act together or "get out.'"
No rep confirmation at this point.
