Valerie Bertinelli Shares Her Exercise Secrets

Now that Valerie Bertinelli has the exercise video 'Losing It and Keeping Fit' coming out, she's sharing her exercise secrets. And the best part is that she says her routine doesn't require gym equipment or even weights: it can be done in your own home! (That's my kind of exercise program :)
[Christopher] Lane [Valerie's trainer] stresses that Valerie’s workout routine was really "back to basics," adding that he had the star doing "step ups on the coffee table."
"Your body is your own best tool!" the star trainer said. "You don't need to have weights, you don't need fancy equipment. You can just do a lot of squats."
This is what Valerie had to say about the exercise program her trainer designed:
"He came up with a program that was so simple. Not easy, but simple," said the Jenny Craig spokesmodel... "It still takes a lot to do, but we need to tell everybody, because anybody can do this. We did it in my living room."
Valerie even credits her trainer with turning her into a runner!
"He said he's going to make her a runner, and I was like 'yeah right.' The first twenty minutes I hate, I hate!" says Bertinelli, who lost 40 pounds on Jenny Craig. "And then once the endorphins kick in, it's OK … and he had me running a half marathon."
Talk about a 180 degree turn-around! Are you planning on checking out Valerie's new video?

Valerie Bertinelli Loves Herself More Than Food

Valerie Bertinelli says she feels better about herself today, at 49, than she ever has, she confided to Ladies Home Journal.
"I've realized I'm more important than food is. I love a big slice of pizza. But I love myself more," she says in the November Issue of Ladies' Home Journal, out Oct. 13. "Being thin is about changing the way you think about yourself. It's about saying you deserve to be healthy. In no way have I perfected this eating thing, and I don't know that I ever will. But life is about making progress. It's not about perfection."
Valerie also talked about her photoshoot in a green bikini last March.
"There was no hiding behind Spanx for that one. I was hesitant, but I was working out so friggin' hard," she says. "I thought, 'Why not show this body off? I'm almost 50 and I haven't felt this good about myself since I was 16."
Valerie sounds like she's in a great place emotionally. I agree with her, we all are more important than what we eat. It's just that so many foods that taste great happen to be fattening! That's the problem as I see it :)

Valerie Bertinelli Talks Weight Loss In "Fitness"

Jenny Craig spokewoman Valerie Bertinelli posed for the January 2009 cover of Fitness magazine and talked about her 40-pound weight loss, including why she chose to lose the weight, about celebrities losing weight, and the emotional aspects of eating and weight loss.
Regarding her initial decision to lose weight and the process of weight loss, Valerie said:
My decision to lose weight was about me- how I wanted to feel inside. I had to do this for myself... You have to give yourself time. It doesn't happen overnight. I started this journey in March 2007. It's got to be a long-term commitment."
Valerie is open about some people's perceptions that it is easier for celebrities to lose weight because of all the resources at their disposal.
Well, truthfully, most celebrities do. Look, I understand the cynicism that we have all these people working for us, doing everything we need done. But that's not the case for me. I cook, I run my own errands. No one can do my workouts for me."

The 60th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Ashley Tisdale, Kathy Griffin, Lisa Edelstein, Sarah Chalke, Valerie Bertinelli, Brenda Song, James Gandolfini, Monique Coleman, Sarah Silverman, Chloe Sevigny,
and Seth Green walked the red carpet for the 60th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
It seems like there is always an award show a brewing. I think from August to February or so it gets to be a bit ridiculous. But I always LOVE to see what the women choose to wear. So keep 'em coming!
Anyone else think that Kathy got a bit too skinny?
This program airs Saturday, September 20,
8:00 p.m. on E!
