How Do You Stay On Track When On Vacation
POSTED BY Amy, May 17, 2008 AT 11:39 amI went back to the midwest to visit family a month ago. It's all about food at my MIL's house. Desert's, bread, fattening food. She must not be into veggies because she never fixes any. I finally went shopping and got some and my husband and I were the only ones that ate them. Weather to bad to go for walks, so NO exercise, except for some basic floor exercises without any weights. Needless to say I gained 5 lbs in 10 days. I have lost it now. But I need to know what others do to keep their fitness routine on track, especially when visiting relatives.
It's super hard to keep on track for me too! We visited my inlaws in February, and I gained like 3 lbs in less than 2 weeks. I have no advice other than kicking into high gear when you get back. Also even though you can't control your exercise as much when you're in vaca you can still monitor what you eat. And just try to resist.
That's a tough one! I guess in your situation, do portion control. Just eat to satisfy your hunger, but not more. Resist temptation, but don't deprive yourself either. Take it easy and don't stress out too much. You'll get back on track when you go home.
Yes, portion control like Riviera said! And another thing -- if you're going to eat something a little fatty, ONLY do so when you REALLY like that food a lot -- not if it's something that you're only so-so about. Sprlurge on foods that are worth it. I'm on vacay right now acutally, and it's been so easy for me! I just eat ONLY when I'm hungry (which is KEY to dieting) and try do water instead of juice and pop, and eat something only when I really really like that food.
