Hayden Panettiere Hates US Age Limits

Can't a girl just get a drink without having to worry about government regulations?! Sheesh! Hayden Panettiere isn't happy that she can't legally walk into a bar while home in the US. She is much happier over seas where no one IDs her at a bar. It's like... so cool.

drinking is not "cool" at all....
am i the only one that was with her...till i read the "that's so cool" at the end. it kind of ruined it for me.
I agree. She had a good point and everything, but adding "that's so cool" just made it sound like it was coming from a 13 year old. It made her sound really dumb.

Plenty of people drink wine. My family is Italian and its common place to drink wine at dinner. We're not "pretending to be adults." Personally, I hate the taste of beer and most liquor, but wine is something I actually enjoy.

so right! talking about equal rights... when it comes to nudity or getting married legally (for example) there are still lots of inequalities in the usa... and yeah, i think its weird that you can (again, for example) drive at 16 -- a car can be a deadly weapon -- but you are not allowed to drink some booze. what's up with that? is there any justification for it?
Personally, I think they should outlaw the male thong on beaches. Just noooooo. I think Ms. P needs to focus on something a little more important than being allowed to drink at 18. Yep, you can fight in a war at 18, but should you? You can buy porn, but why help to exploit woman and contribute to abuse of both women and children, because a portion of every dollar spent on porn goes to some degenerate with ideas that don't involve consensual adults...it's a given. Why didn't she mention voting? She has a right to do that...use it to make changes that are beneficial to more than a good time. Sheesh. She definitely isn't a Lohan but she ain't mensa either.

i see where she's coming from. i'm 20 years old and its sooo frustrating that i cant even drink a glass of wine with my parents at dinner because i'm 5 months shy of my 21st birthday. like, what crazy development in maturity am i going to undergo in the next 5 months?

I live in London and I get ID'd all the time (even in the supermarket embarrassingly enough), and I'm almost 22 ... in England they're meant to ask for your ID if you look under 21, and she definitely looks under 21!!
i just want to say first of all the government did'nt just wake up and decided lets frustrate teenagers and not allow them to drink up untill they reach 21.for you to not even have to reason with that law proves that you have't reach that level of maturity yet.we all were teenagers at one stage but hey,we are adults who now know why you should'nt drink when you under age.as for hyden,being as famous as she is she should be careful of what she teaches out threre to her peers who look up to her.that my dear made you not smart at all by praising alcohol like it's the omly important thing on plannet earth.it also proves that there is a reason why you are still a teenager,coz if you were not i'm definetly sure that next time you will think things through before you say them.
yet we adults haven't learned that we shouldn't smoke, drink, cheat and what else... it comes with humanity.. And she didn't praise alcohol as the most important thing on earth she just think its weird that she is allowed to do about everything else without drinking alcohol... I rather not have people run of pregnant as a 18 year old so why not increase the all of the age regulations to 21? Or in worst case to 18? since alcohol is nothing in my eyes compared to STDs, Cancer, Murder, getting a child when you shouldn't even look at one and so on... and her questions and views on the laws makes her unintelligent? thats like me saying that you are stupid because you are a republican...
I agree with Hayden. The US age limits are dumb. If your old enough to fight in a illegal, pointless war you should be old enough to drink.
naidine Teenagers are from 13 to 19 after that they are not teens anymore and at 21 is just dumb to call someone a teenager,immature and etc.,many people at that age live alone,have even families,work and take care of themself.And glass of wine..common!what´s the deal with glass of wine??or a beer!?That´s why once people allowed to drink get trashed cause they don´t have the tradition and culture to enjoy a nice cup of wine or a beer with the diner for example.
Dear Hayden, we too have bars and pubs here that will ask you if you are 21 yet. I frequent a bar that is for over 21 years only because, frankly, when you reach a certain age group you don't want to hang out with young girls (who ever so often can't handle their alcohol). And sorry, there is nothing cool about 18 year old girls who go out and get drunk. As for "You can buy porn, but why help to exploit woman and contribute to abuse of both women" ... I don't see where it helps exploiting women. Every woman has a right to say no and doesn't have to do porn. If you need to earn money there are other ways to do so.

Yes, 21 is a strict age limit. In other countries, it's 18 or 19. And you don't see them having a worse alcohol problem compared to the US. I just think Americans are much more conservative than other nations, especially when it comes to nudity and religion. Violence, that's a whole other issue. Americans don't have a problem with selling guns in stores to just about anyone, or showing extreme violence on the 6 o'clock news. There's something seriously wrong here.

When I was 18 (I'm 25 now), even I understood the reason behind that law. This solidifies my dislike for her. How bout she have her dad, Milo, buy her some franzia and call it a day. Just another young punk that's blind to reality.
I think US is the only country in the entire world that have age limit of 21. Every other countries including Canada, UK is 18 or 19 and some countries don't even have any age limit. Where I'm from, it's 19 and I didn't turn into a raging alcoholic. I don't think there's anything wrong of having a glass a wine with your dinner.

I agree with her. Granted, the way she presented it makes her sound like she's not the brightest person, but still. She has a very valid point. At 18 you can serve the country, buy porn, and vote, but not buy alcohol? I just think the age restrictions are a little ridiculous. I understand the need for age limits, but there should at least be some consistency.
