Kirsten Dunst Didn't Go To Rehab For Depression?

When Kirsten Dunst went to rehab and rumors circulated that she was there for substance abuse problems, I, for one, was pretty surprised. So then when she opened up and alluded to being treated for depression, that seemed to make more sense. Now Cirque Lodge, where Kirsten underwent treatment is saying that they don't treat depression alone.
We address chemical dependency issues. We’re not at all a purely
psychiatric facility like Bridges To Recovery, and each patient must
undergo a detox for their chemical dependency, whether they’re coming
off benzos, you know, cocktails in a pill, or harder substances. We do
treat underlying issues, but if someone is suffering solely from
chronic depression, we’re not the place to go.
A lot of blogs are saying this makes Kirsten a liar, but don't want to jump on that bandwagon just yet. First of all, she never flat out said she had been treated for depression. And secondly, it's not necessarily one or the other. She could have been treated for both substance abuse and depression, two things that can definitely be intertwined.
Here's to hoping she's healing and in a good place with her life right now.

Vera, we the public know you don't go to rehab for depression. But Ms. Dunst wants the public to know that she thinks we are a bunch of idiots.

Many people mask depression with substances. They often go hand in hand.

Well whatever her problem may be, she obviously is not ready to talk about it. Best of luck to her.
I wish Kevin Bacon would come to my town and teach us all how to dance.

I too stand in saying that depression can cause substance abuse! But whatever reason she had, I hope she is feeling better and that the press gives her a bit of space.
im sorry but there is NO WAY this statement is real. rehab facilities have to adhere to strict confedentiality rules, and there is absolutely no way in hell they would make a comment alluding to the mental health or rehabilitative needs of any of their clients. it doesn't make any sense.

I'd give her a break. It's not like life is easy for anyone, even an actress.
The facility was making a general statement. If they named names, that would be a different story.

That statement didn't have to have anything to do with Kirsten at all...and I agree that substance abuse and depression can certainly go hand in hand. By no means would this make her a liar.
jeez, give the girl a break. who cares if it's depression or substance abuse or both? she has a problem, and she got help for it.
Getting help for a problem is a sign of strength, not weakness. I applaude her for that.
Addiction IS A MENTAL CONDITION. When will we get a clue and start addressing these stigmas about it?
Its this kind of scrutiny that can cause some people, even stars, to not seek help. Chemical dependancy, depression, or whatever else she dealing with I have to applaud to for seeking help. I enjoy reading this blog because it has in general a nice easy going approach to rumors. I can't read perez anymore, its just too much.

It would have been better to not say anything than lie. If she's not ready to face she has a problem, no wonder she's depressed.

I'm sorry she ever even felt the need to explain she went to rehab.
I hope she's in a better place than she was.
I agree with lis 110% rehab and the reasons why someone needs to go is their own issue and should not EVER have to be disclosed to the public in general
She is such a LIAR! She should have just kept her mouth shut. Now she sounds like every other uneducated celeb that lies about plastic surgery ect ect....thats like saying I went to a whore house to pray...DUMB ASS
I could care less how she sounds. How sad is it that Kirsten ever felt she had to justify herself by making any statement at all. Celebrity or not, going to rehab was a part of her own personal hell. Then jerks like Perez Hilton used it simply as a reason to further rip her to shreds. I can't even imagine the humiliation........

Yeah, I didn't know people go to rehab for depression... Never heard of that. I have had depression for years, so has my mother and my sister, and we are all on meds for it. But I'm pretty sure you go to a psych ward if it gets bad and not to rehab. LIESSSS!
Either way, whatever she went there for is private & confidential, and none of our business.
