PETA Won't Leave The Olsen Twins Alone

PETA Won't Leave The Olsen Twins Alone

I feel like they may have gone a little too far this time. PETA is calling on it's supporters to send the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen pieces of their hair for the girls' birthday, which is coming up this Friday. The website says:

The twins are still sporting as much fur as ever. Since they seem to be in such dire need of extra hair on their bodies, let's give them some of ours—and send a strong message while we're at it….Save that hair in a bag and mail it to the twins with a note that says, "Please, use my hair instead of the animals'. Happy Birthday."

Pubically criticizing them is one thing, but I feel like asking millions of people to mail them hair might be bordering on harassment. What do you think, is this going too far?

I know I'll be eaten alive for saying this, but PETA's main purpose IS to harass. In some regions of the world (I'm not talking about MKA here) poor farmers need to work on the fur industry to survive. Unless PETA offers to support all those families, I don't see what else can they manage to do. I wish they would put all those efforts to help 3rd world countries instead of chickens.

PETA have an aim, that aim is to highlight cruelty and those that support it. It's not down to PETA to support the livelihoods of people who feel they have no other choice but to cause intolerable cruelty to other creatures, there are plenty of other agencies across the globe who do that. Supporting PETA does not mean you cannot support agencies that address human suffering. Trying to justify wearing fur in this way is just ridiculous. Most animal lovers love all creatures, including humans, we just wish some of you weren't so vile and inhumane in your treatment of other animals. Wearing fur supports a very cruel and unnecessary industry, end of!

Peta's whole point is to go too far. Did they list their address?

so Vera you think having a bunch of defensless animals's skin rip from them is not cruel? These trolls are a menace, they dress like ugly bag ladies, I don't know who voted these two hags as fashion icons. I do hope people mails them the hair.

The twin on the left looks "normal" (as normal as these two get!), unfortunately, the twin on the left does NOT and she looks to be approx. 42 yrs old. NOT A GOOD LOOK!!!

When my friend Marta sent me an email last week asking me if she could have some of my hair, I didn’t even blink. Marta is one weird chick, and I’ve come to expect stuff like that from her.* But it turns out she actually had a logical (albeit somewhat disturbing) reason for the request: Those convention-flaunting pranksters over at peta2 have arranged for a very, very special birthday gift for our old arch nemeses the Olsen Twins. And this isn’t one of those token gifts that just adds to the clutter—it’s something they can really use! Thanks to my colleagues at peta2, and the hundreds of peta2 Street Teamers who are chipping in to donate their hair, the Olsens will have enough genuine, certified “people fur” on their birthday to make their own fur coats for the rest of the year! And they won’t have to harm a single animal in the process.

I think this is an example of an organization taking an extreme stance that makes people who support animals and the appropriate caring of them look like loonies. Last time I checked PETA was supposed to be more than ANTI-FUR harassment. Natalie Portman is a vegan and created shoes that do not use leather but she is not asking everyone to send their hair to the Olsen Twins. Nor is she making a statement their own choices and decisions are incorrect because they are not aligned with her own. The same thing goes for Christianity, pro-life or pro-choice, a few extremist ruin the whole pot. People are entitled to wear what they want and have their own fashion choices. (no matter how hideous!)

Animals have a right to a humane life and not just to provide fur for rich selfish bitches.

As I agree, that doesnt mean that PETA has the right to harass. PETA was founded by a person with diabetes, meaning they needed insulin..guess what is tested on animals...insulin. PETA sucks.
Passerby (not verified)Passerby (not verified) said:
For what those animals have to go through... no I dont. I dont think a punch to the face would be going to far either. They support torture of a living, breathing, feeling creature. They deserve what they get. Id spit on them if I could.

I think PETA is giving the Olsen twins grounds to sue them, which is not in their best interests considering the twins are worth more. It's one thing to be against fur, it's another thing to force other people to be against it as well. Welcome to America everyone, freedom of expression, even if that means wearing animal carcass.

I think it's a great idea! Yet, these two are fully aware of what they're wearing so I don't think this will stop them from wearing fur. But it at least can gross them out, which I think is a nice touch of PETA. And yes, I do think that groups like PETA are neccessary for we need a vioced consciousness.

i LOVE animals. they are the BEST. but PETA cares more about getting their name in the paper than actually saving lives. if you look them up online you can find a ton of shady facts about them. IMO they do not really care at all.

yeah! like using celebrities on their ads who wear fur and are not vegan.

thats horrible and disgusting. wearing animal fur is wrong - but thats no solution. mary-kate and ashley are powerful girls. no doubt they will find a law suit out of this.

So what if they are asking for people's hair. How gross is that? I hope the head of PETA has to put the coat together and choke on it. Let them do whatever they want to do. Do we really care? Don't you think it's for publicity? If they really wanted that much hair, why don't they visit Supercuts?

It is going too far. What an absolutely awful thing to do--to send people human hair for their birthday. It's their own business if they want to wear fur, no matter how cruel it may be to animals. I completely agree with you, vozbelle that there are other ways to help animals than harming other people in the process.
Passerby (not verified)Passerby (not verified) said:
killing animals and wearing their skin is so not their own buisness. if we were to talk about terrorism in the u.s., how would it feel if i'd say: well, it's your buisness. cope with it. don't expect help from the rest of the world. and what about child abuse? is it the perv's own buisness, too, and we mustn't do s.th.?? wearing fur is on the same level like murder to me.

Instead of sending their hair to the Olsen twins, perhaps all the PETA supporters who would go that far should send their hair to Locks of Love instead.

naw they wear way to much fur... it's tacky. at least peta isn't throwing red paint at them.
Passerby (not verified)Passerby (not verified) said:
It's one thing to go on your merry way not wearing fur and supporting anyone who believes in not wearing fur as well. However, it's quite another thing to go out and force your opinions upon others, whether it be your opinions on religion, race, animal cruelity or anything else for that matter. PETA is going too far with this and it's not the first time they've crossed the line. I am not in favor of wearing fur, however I am embarrassed by PETA and would never be associated with them. That being said, if my daughter had a rare deadly disease and the cure could only be found in the vertebrae of baby seals. Let's just say I'd be clubbing them all over the place. That is where my priorities lie.
