Jennifer Lopez Sued For $5 Million Over Dog Bite
A flight attendant from NetJets is suing Jennifer Lopez for $5 million dollars due to a bite she received from the singer's German Shepperd. It's not so much the bite as it is the way the bite caused her to fall. Supposedly, she fell in such a way that Lisa Wilson is unable to ever work again. Here are the details from the Daily News:
Lisa Wilson, 40, filed a suit in Brooklyn Federal Court Thursday, alleging the attack caused her to fall and suffer back injuries that prevent her from working anymore.
The dog-bites-woman tale began July, 3, 2006, when NetJets, a private airline company, assigned Wilson to work a flight taking J.Lo to Burbank Airport in California, the suit says.
Wilson says Lopez boarded a Gulfstream IV jet at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, L.I., with Floyd, a German shepherd described in the manifest as "a well-behaved guard dog."
Just in case, Wilson, of Mary Esther, Fla., says in the court papers, Lopez gave her some instructions on how to act around Floyd.But the suit alleges that 90 minutes into the flight, Wilson walked past Floyd, and he responded by "attacking her and biting her pant leg."
In an attempt to get away, Wilson says she "twisted and fell," injuring her lower back so badly she had to undergo surgery last year and no longer can work - "at great economic loss."

Funny that you wouldn't see this for what it is... asking 5 million cuz you will never work again?? which is probably bullshit anyways, she's probably perfectly healthy, but it involves a celebrity so she sues of course... Okay so let's assume she can't work anymore, i don't see how she would deserve 5 million... she's like 40, so probably about 20 years left to work, now let's time that by 60,000 annual salary, yeah it could be more, but that is just a estimation. So that calculates to 1,200,000 in 20 years and that's not even factoring taxes and other things... so how does anyone figure that she deserves 5 million, even if you think of other expenses she is still up 3,800,000 that she wouldn't have had anyways... it's a bunch of crap, damn America and your frivilous lawsuit...

The law works frustratingly slowly. Her lawyers would done a lot of work prior to filing the lawsuit. I am sueing my employer for a workplace injury which happened 3 years ago. The affidavit has just been served. I contacted the lawyers very soon after it happened. Evidence has to be gathered, documents subpoenaed, a barrister consulted... It all takes time. Believe me, when you are injured and unable to work you wish it would all be over and settled as soon as possible so you can get on with your life as best you can. The slow way in which the law works adds to the suffering of the original injury. She probably is broke through no fault of her own. Good luck to her!
Yeah I would wish that it would be over with quickly too so i could start spending my 5 million dollars and buy that cool car and huge house I always wanted, and can now have since a celebrity hurt me (which of course she didn't.. the chick tripped, she's stupid, end of story)
If the dog really made her fall and hurt her back, then she has every right to sue. Congratulations, Vera about CBS interviewing you about this story. Just wondering though........why did they interview you about it?

I agree. This smells just like a person wanting to make a quick buck. If she really did fall and hurt her back and it wasn't because of some famous person's dog then she would be just fine. But once she realized it was a millionaire's dog she had to sue and try and make some sweet dough. I mean, 5 million?? Please. I feel bad for celebs. They have to be so careful. 5 million dollars seems a little extreme! Certainly she wouldn't make that in her lifetime.
Part of the process of sueing is to ask for more than you would ever hope to get. If settled out of court, those being sued offer a ridiculously low figure, and the haggling goes on until a figure acceptable to both sides is reached. If it goes to court, then it's for the judge to decide.

Seriously is JLo liaible if the dog acted completely out of character, and she could not have anticipated this happening? what if the woman didn't follow the instructions she was given properly? We only have the attendants version of this so far
A simple fall can cause quite devastating injuries - someone I know was knocked over by a dog and hurt her knee so badly she was on crutches for 18 months and will never get full mobility back.
By the way - a fur birthing suit? no chance. It would be the most uncomfortable thing to wear when giving birth, and I cannot believe someone took that seriously.

One would not reasonably fall on the ground from a dog bite that did not cause any injury. A dog was most likely sniffing her hand and she played falling scene.

Well, I would hardly think someone would undergo back surgery as a ploy to sue J-LowRent. The burden of proof is on Jennifer's attorneys to proof there was a pre-existing back condition before the dog bite, that prompted the woman's surgery. That could get very messy if Jennifer's attorneys can't proof that.
I don't mind that the woman is seeking monetary gain for the loss of her ability to work, but does she really think that her career as a flight attendant would have given her an income of 5 Million dollars?
And Vera, I am excited you got interviewed too! You haven't changed at all, you are still the sweetheart that writes positively. Unfortuantely, as you do get more exposure, the nutbags are going to come out and try to bring you down. Don't let them get to you!
Americans apparently sues people for everything... too me it seems like a money thing.. It says that the dog "attacking her and biting her pant leg." Seriously if she was attacked in the leg by a German Shepard, I'm sure the description of the wounds would be more graphic..... so I'm wondering who is to blame for the back injury ....dog or hysteric flight attendant tripping over herself.... Anyway if she was seriously wounded from the dog bite itself then J.Lo is responsible ...if she was not seriously wounded by the dog bite then I cannot see how J.Lo can be responsible for the flight attendants twisting and falling...
Having read the whole extract again, it appears that the Flight Attendant panicked from the dog biting her pant leg (NOT the leg itself) and then fell over in a bad way. I'm surprised it's taken 2 years for the Press to get hold of the story though...seems very suspicious.
What makes Vera qualified to be interviewed on a legal case? She's a professional gossip - big whoop. And if her opinion is genuinely that valid and sought after, then you'd expect a degree of professionalism and not have her squee over it like a kid!

Okay asking for 5 million dollars as a prayer of relief is over the top. Jennifer did instruct the woman about the dog and what he was trained for, so the attendant was not paying attention to JLO when she warned about the dog. Besides aren't animals suppose to be in carriers while flying? As for Flight Attendant injuring her back, something tells me the woman's injuries are far minor than she milks it for. Sorry to sound cold hearted, but in situations like this and regarding the fact she is suing someone in the entertainment industry for a large sum is outrageous. As for never working again? B.S. Her fall could not have done permanent damage to anything, unless the woman is over 80 years old or has osteoporosis. Besides as she said she twisted and ended up with a back injury, I find that to be bogus because to twist she would have landed on her thigh or hip. Also the isle of the plane is not that hard for someone to fall and injure themselves because if it was there would be alot of flight attendants out of work after tripping and falling onto those isles. Besides in cases like this, the court will be asking the doctor whom attended her about her situation, plus examine the medical records to determine if she is permanently injured or just milking a minor injury for some fast cash so that she will not have to work. Finally the dog grabbed her by the pant leg not the leg itself, so there is no dog bite, possibly a twisted ankle or bruised thigh from the fall, but no bite.
The woman is fine especially after surgery and rehab. Most likely, she already had a back problem from "past falls" The dog is a German Shepard, it could have done much worse, like a puncture wound (the least) or big gash that would call for surgery and stitches. What a well-trained dog, worth the money. The airlines should pay worker's comp, because they allowed a "Gaurd Dog" on a private jet. Therefore, Lopez should not be held responsible because people are dumber than dogs.

I was mauled by a pit/lab mix one week ago today. I suffered bites to my arm, ankle, stomach and chest. About 13 bites total. The dog belonged to my mother in law and he knew me very well. We lived in the same house for 2 years. I would never sue my mother in law, dog bites hurt, but for the love of God, it says that she feel trying to get away from the bite on HER PANT LEG! Money hungry people make me sick!
