Gossip Girl Releases New Set Of Sexy / Controversial Ads

Gossip Girl took all of the negative things people were saying about them and turned it into their latest controversial advertising campaign."Every Parent's Nightmare" was written up by the Boston Herald. Instead of sulking about the bad press, they spun, spun away. Same applies for the rest of the set.
I guess they are all about the shock value. But I'm still not convinced this show has much longer to live. It gets more press than any other TV program I know, yet I don't know a single person that watches it.
Anyone excited about season two?

Well, I don't get the CW (I'm one of, like, ten people in this country who doesn't have/want cable), but you'd better believe that the first season of this show is on my Netflix queue. I've heard it's BETTER than the O.C. -- and Mischa Barton isn't in it! Bonus! Oh, and those ads are pure genius. Love 'em.

i don't have cable either....but i get the CW - it's a free station! check into it in your area, seriously. I didn't know i got it as a "free" station until last fall. and was pissed that i missed out on some good shows. Ernestine...you are officially one of 11 in the country. ;)

Oh, beLIEVE me -- I've asked! We get some random-ass sci-fi channel and PBS, but no CW. It's a tragedy. A true, true tragedy.
GG is by FAR better than the OC was/is. I'm nearly 23 and watch GG on re-runs right now on the CW.
I'm 26 and i LOVE LOVE LOVE the show. I agree not many people watch it but if they did, they'd love it! It's like the OC and Sex and the City combined! I'm ready for season 2!!

They're hot! I definitely watch it, although my daughter is NOT allowed. And honestly, they're what, seniors in high school? Sad to say, but I knew very very few virgins my senior year of high school.
Well I'm a senior and I'm a virgin. Not because I'm a 500 pound slob either. Because I'm not a bimbo. Besides I wouldn't watch this show if someone paid me, it's almost pornographic.

It's true, Vera, Gossip Girl is getting a lot of attention, but no one is watching it (well, hardly anyone). I also heard it's on the verge of getting cancelled. I've never seen the show, but I'm curious about it. Not sure if we can get it in Canada, though.

Yea!! All of my friends absolutely LOVE Gossip Girl... so much so, that I am adding it to my line-up this fall, I must see what all the fuss is about!
Besides, the ad campaign and the press around it is GENIUS!!!

I have not watched 5 mins of that show and not interested in season 2. Cant stand when they try to be edgy or different and all they can add for chock value is SEX. How creative!
Everyone I know watches this show! I bought the season pass on iTunes! Its really great and I was a fan of the books! People should give it a try! its such a guilty pleasure :)

I wasn't intrested in the show at first and my friend made me watch an episode and after the first one i was hooked! Its now one of my favorite shows! I cant even get enough. I think they're just doing their job with the promos! the entertainment world is all about how you spin things, and they spun the negatives into positives, and thats what its all about. Theyve gotten all kinds of attention and have the buzz around the show. I cant wait til Sept 1st!

it's really on at a hard time to watch... i can never sit down at 8PM for an hour... they should start it at 9 or 10... i love this show so much. def a guilty pleasure. i buy it on itunes..
I LOVE GG It is fast paced and there are always twists in every story and the fashion is great.
Season 1 just finished here in Finland, and I can't wait for season 2. It's a great show, and me an my friends tune in religiously whenever it's on :)

are you kidding me?! this is the best show on the planet right now!!! of course i'm exaggerating but i love love love this show! i dunno about the CW's viewership but gossip girl is hot here in the philippines (we get it through ETC or 2nd avenue). girls here have even started copying the fashion from the show. all my friends are addicted to it. i really hope the CW doesn't axe it. i would die! this is my guiltiest guilty pleasure!!!

I like the show but if I had a younger 10 years old sister, I wouldn't let her watch it, sometimes it is way too controversial :)
And lets talk about a controversy: the ads are PURE creation... not bad at all... take the bad and negative from people and bring the best in you :)

i love the oc, and i've tried to watch this show. i've REALLY tried to get into it. awful. awful writing/acting. the people in it are pretty though.

I absolutely LOVE GG. It just started pissing me off when Michelle Trachtenberg's (??) character, Georgina Sparks ew, was still on, but Queen Bitch Blair's plan made her go away, so I'll be watching season 2 with GREAT pleasure.

Ok so its about highschool kids but mostly 20-30 yr olds are watching it? I am thankful every day that I dont have kids so I dont have this stuff to worry about my teen aspiring to become. Its just one more way to make kids try to grow up before they need to. Ive never watched the show and Im not slamming anyone here who does. Those ads wont make me turn into to see it tho. If anything it slams home what a hedonistic society we live in lol and no Im not a prude.

I am sorry. This is not cute at all. The older crowd, sure, the ads are perfectly fine, but gossip girl is aimed for a younger crowd. Dont you find it odd that older people are so attracted to this show? I know younger kids these days are dealing with sex at a much younger age, however, do you think its cute to promote such promiscuity not only on the show but in ads? I find it disgusting.

I Heart GG! I know there are some hardcore fans who like the books better, but I've read the books and they feel very dumbed down, while the tv show is actualyl quite witty! I love it, although I don't usually get to watch it when it first airs, I always download it as soon as its available on itunes!

Now this post is really not fair - I know TONS of people who are watching this show, and you writing up here that it's not being watched just discourages people who might try it! It's an AMAZING show, honestly, I haven't seen a better one for years, and I do watch lots and lots of shows. And to set things straight - it's NOT on the verge of getting cancelled! The truth of the matter is, plenty of people don't have cable so they watch it online, so the tv stations figures are simply useless. I do wonder why in the age when everything is available on the internet people still bother with stuff like tv statistics. There are millions of people who simply don't have time to sit down in front of the tv at the same time every week to watch a show they like and prefer to watch it online when they do have time! Please stop writing this show is not being watched just cause you haven't seen it, all you are doing is giving it bad publicity and making people think it's bad, while in fact it's one of the best TV has to offer!
