Christian Bale Update
More and more on this story keeps coming out. The press can't get enough. It's like Christian Bale is the new Britney Spears. :P Now reports are saying that the fight with his sister started after she asked him for money to help raise her children.
"Christian is a very wealthy man and was asked to help his sister out financially.
He was asked to loan her £100,000 but he refused and it caused an almighty row."
In a recent press conference Christian didn't address the situation, but just said,
"It's a deeply personal matter. I would ask you to respect my privacy in the matter."
When a celebrity makes it big, all of a sudden everybody wants a piece. On one hand, becoming a star is like hitting the jackpot, but on the other hand that doesn't mean that he or she owes anybody anything. Although family is different. What do you think?

Hmmm. That's a tough one. It'd be nice to say he's hit it big so he should give some to his family...but that's HIS money! He worked hard for it and maybe he doesn't think his sister would handle the money well...or maybe he thinks she should get off her butt and make her own money? I'm not saying she doesn't do anything, but I also don't think she should feel entitled to HIS money either. If that makes sense. LOL

For what it's worth, it made sense to me. And I agree with you 100%.
How do we know that he hasn't already given his mother and sister money in the past and is it possible that they spent all the money and are trying to reach into his pockets again. He seems like a nice, quite guy who really isn't in the headline for getting into trouble so why would asking him for money to support her children turn into such a big deal?

I just tittered. LOL. Atleast he knows he has places he can go when he's in need. I'll even let him use my chest as a place to rest his head and cry his tears.
When Christian's parents split up he went to live with his father. His mother has always been bitter about that even though she told him it was his choice. His father served as his manager and helped him get started in showbiz. His mother is a bitter woman as is his sister. They both have issues and are in debt. They also must not be too bright. If he wasn't going to give them any money before, do they really think he's going to give them anything ever again? Oh that's right the tabloids will pay them to talk about their heartache. Perfect timing.
I think they're showing their true colors by getting pissy if they don't get what they think is owed to them. I can't stand sponges like these....blah

He doesn't HAVE to give them money. Let's say (imagine) this: his sister is now all "oh my brother is christian bale" and wants to live up to that - aka show-off. Sounds reasonable enough for him not giving them any money - specially if they even offend his wife.
I say it's none of our business. It could be that his sister is a chronic screw up who needs some tough love and not a hand out. He has his reasons and they are personal so it should be left at that.

his mother and sister were nowhere near him when he was starting his carreer. they want to be close to him now he's a n a/lister.

and the fact that they made such a huge deal out of it just shows how interested in his MONEY and not HIM per se they are.

When his parents were going through a divorce they gave him a choice to be with his mom or his dad, he chose his dad and then his dad became his manager and helped him become a big star. Well now his mom and sister are offering their side of the story of the "assault" to the highest bidder. So this all comes down to money, makes you feel bad for christian bale. imagine had he picked his mom, he mightve become one of those people that divorced their parents.
no one really needs that much to get help with raising the kids..we don't know what kind of person the sister or mother is, you just never know what's really going on or what they really wanted the money for. If he worked for it, he can decide what he wants to do with it and who he will give it to.

100,000 pounds?!? that's $200,000!! I don't blame him for refusing her, if this is true!!! I love my brother, but if he was asking me for that much money, I'd laugh in his face (not that I have nearly as much as Hotty McBale)! There's obviously more to this story...
Why should family be different? Some family's are rotten and just because someone has money does not entitle ANYONE to it!

What happened to his sister that she NEEDS that amount of money? I would downright tell my family to "go screw," if they ever asked for that amount of money. If she needed like 5000 then that us different and I can see that happening to someone. But she is trying to get a free ride off her brothers hard earned money. He worked for that money!

If he was close to his sister he would probably give her the money. It doesnt sound like they have that type of relationship to begin with.
maybe his sister and mother are drug addicts. I certainly wouldn't give them a dime. Christian is nothing but a dollar sign to them so why should he have to give them any money?? I'm glad he took the high road and told every one (in a nice way) to mind our own business. He could have trashed his family but didn't - good for him.

I have always liked Christian, and feel bad that he has to deal with the cops at what should be a happy time in his life. It is his money and he can say no if he wants to, regardless of who is asking for it. He probably has a good reason for saying no.
Just goes to show. Be nice to your family.

$100,000 pounds is different than asking for some grocery money, childcare help for a week, etc. HUGE difference. She is asking him to support her for YEARS!!! crazy. Don't blame him for saying No, (if this is the real reason of course!)

My first instinct was to say he should give her the money, it is his sister, and he has more money then most people, including me, will ever dream of. The amount she asked for is a lot, but it is probably only a drop in the bucket for him. But that instinct is probably because I live month to month, as a lot of people do, and I am jealous of these stars that have millions and millions and money is something they never have to worry about. But it is his money, and it sounds like he has never had a good relationship with his mother and sister, etc. I am sure there is a good reason he would not give it to her, and it is personal. But that will not stop us from guessing!
Just because a person becomes successful and wealthy, it does not nullify their family members need to be self-sufficient, to hold down their own job and purpose in life. It does not give their familymembers the right to toss aside their own personal obligations and responsibilities in life.
100,000 is not chump change. She's not asking him for a small loan. She's asking him to finance her life so she doesn't have to do it herself.

I would never ask anyone else in my family to pay my way. I'd rather be self-sufficient, and have the ability to give gifts from my heart to others in my family to make their days a little brighter, a little better.
The sister was way out of line, IMHO.
I know it's a bit random and totally off the topic... but I think he's really good in bed... he just looks it... yumm... wouldn't you agree girls?

Wow, don't know if this is true but I really feel that his money is his money and no one else is entitled to it. If he wants to help out financially let him make that decision. And if this is true, I'm sure there is something more going on that the world is not entitled to know.
He doesn't owe his family ****. I doubt they helped him achieve his success so why should he feel obligated to give them money, that's preposterous. He left home at 17 and has returned once, that should tell you that he doesn't have a close personal bond with those people and it's like strangers asking for money so screw it. I'd get pissed off too.
Considering Christian hasn't had much of a relationship with his mother and sister for about 20 years, I think it's ridiculous to say that he should pay their way. Even if he had a great relationship with them I think it's unfair to expect a wealthy relative to financially support them. Asking for $200,000 is just taking advantage. I would say no too.
exactly...after they blow $200,000.00, they'll only going to keep coming back and asking for more. I think it's good that he told them no right from the start. He doesn't owe them anything. He need to take care of his own family (as in wife and children)!!
It's bad to hear about it..they met each other on a tall dating site " TALLMEET .COM " everytime I saw their story on that site ..make me feel worse
I think Christian Bale has all the money therefore all the PR and this is being spun to make him look better. I think he probably has a terrible temper and didn't control it, and screamed at and pushed and shoved his mum and sister. From what is being said his marriage is on the rocks and he screamed at crew members from his other movie Terminator so this is not the only thing that shows his colores. just because he is the 'star' and they are not doesnt mean he is in the right. Nobody really knows what went on but those involved. It probably wasn't so serious as to cause an arrest however, Just shows an ill-tempered 'star'.
