Huh?? Bizarre.
she is sooo beautiful....they make a great couple!!!
I normally don't comment on gossip websites because you always end up being shot down and bullied but I'll comment here because I feel this website (INO) is more respectful of others thoughts.
Anyways, I think this is disrespectful of the Hindu culture and portrays it as comical and absurd.
Natalie Portman, who I actually thought is more intelligent and broadminded than other Hollywood stars, disappoints me. It makes a joke out of everything.
That being said, Natalie Portman could do much better.

That's a good point. I don't know anything about Bollywood, admittedly; I just thought that Devendra was trying to spoof the Indian movie industry. Anyway, I just did a teaching presentation on different types of mythologies, and I included a Norse myth, a Greek myth, one Cherokee creation myth and one Aboriginal creation myth. I sort of felt weird about talking about Indigenous traditions in that way, because it discounts the verity of what THEY believe, and I deeply respect them, you know?I was about to talk about Hinduism a little, but then I stopped because it's EVERY BIT as valid as Christianity, and in our culture, you can't make fun of/question the Bible without getting, ahem, totally crucified. Personally, I think Hinduism is an absolutely beautiful tradition that makes a lot of sense. I wonder if a lot of other people have issues with this video?

I think this is the new "Bollywood" style of movie/video. I don't think they mean it to be insulting...and I think it's a style that came out of India. That being said, I could be completely wrong.

Ok. Sometimes I wonder if the translations are what they're really saying. At one point during the video..Natalie said..."grandma, I love you in a salad way." I mean, that's what the translation said. Maybe that's a cultural thing? I don't know. But I'm greatly amused. LMAO And that's the bizarrest thing I've seen in a while.
I would like to bath in the milk of Natalie Portman's sacred teat....,
it seem like they're making fun of the Hindu!

i just had nearly the same dsicussion on youtube yesterday about this vid. let's just say it's quite controversial. and if devendra and natalie don't care what kind of press they get, well... there you have it.
I don't know what they are trying to say regarding Bollywood/Hinduism, but here's the weird thing about it...he is singing in SPANISH - I understood what they were singing.
Bizarre.
I had the same thought about being it being disrespectful when I saw it.

it's just a strange video. you have to take it seriously to be offended and i refuse to take it seriously. he is singing in Spanish, the translations are in English and the context is Hindu. how bizarre is that! it's just a silly video. no need to get all caught up in it.

Can we talk about how freaken weird this video is? It made me feel like i was tripping out! WTF!
So quick to point the finger... This video is not offensive at all! The humor in it is completely Bollywood, so I doubt any Hindu will feel offended by it.
By the way, the subtitles are not a translation of the lyrics.
I personally think the music is great and the video is great. Natalie's impressions are funny!
