Shia LaBeouf Arrested For DUI!!

Shia Labeouf was injured while getting into a car accident earlier this morning in Hollywood. We've heard this kid time and time again say how grateful he is for the opportunities he has at his fingertips. YET, the actor was arrested for DUI?! Flames are coming out of my ears...

While attempting to make a left turn, Shia's car collided with another and then rolled over. It is said he has seriously hurt his left hand. Luckily, the passengers of the other vehicle were unharmed.

"Attorneys for Mr. LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27, 2008," said Melissa Kates in the statement issued Sunday evening. "Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month. No further comment will be issued at this time. "

Officers on the scene noticed right away that Shia was drunk.

"It was immediately apparent to officers responding on the scene that LaBeouf was intoxicated and he was subsequently placed under arrest,"

In May, Shia said the following quote:

"There's nothing cool about getting arrested for stupid stuff at my age. But it keeps happening to me. I could pretend that I find it all highly amusing, but I'd be lying. It's deeply embarrassing. I decided a long time ago to stop doing stupid things, so clearly I've still got some work to do on myself. I'm not anonymous any more.

"Now, I light up a cigarette in the wrong place and overnight I'm the Al Capone of misdemeanours. What I've got in terms of acting is too important for me to jeopardise."

Speechless...

What an idiot. I'm so tired of hearing about these spoilt little rich kids and their reckless behavior. Wanna die, fine OD on some sleeping pills and be done with it. But how dare these morons drive drunk. I bet he'll get a slap on wrist and be in a brand new vehicle by the end of the week. There really ought to be stiffer penalties for DIU's - let alone DIU related accidents. That goes for anyone regardless of age or socioeconomic group - but these trifling hollywood startletts are just so self absorbed and selfish. Urrggg...this s**t really makes me angry.

I was hit head on by a drunk driver when I was 19...........when will people learn.

This kid has a ton of money, there is no reason for him to be driving....if he knows he's going out and may drink, hire a car, take a cab, a bus. (I know he wouldn't take a bus, its just an example)

These incidents make me angry.....if anything positive can come out of this it would be that he learns his lesson. I guess we have no choice but to wait and see.

take that STUPID quote off your profile. I am sick to death of seeing. Besides that, when you put a point down, if it is valid - that quote totally ruins it. You are an idiot

In NO way am I trying to condone at all what he did. He acted like an ass for driving drunk. I just feel that he has so many 'people' that work for him and that are around him that need to step in, obviously because he cannot do it himself.
I can only imagine the pressure young actors in Hollywood are under, which does set them apart from the rest of us.. but it doesn't give them an excuse. The 'people' he has around him work closely with him and obvious are first hand eyes to what he does and is capable of and how he behaves. He should be taking the blame for his actions, but his reps and PR people and assitants and any asskissers he has around him should also be shamed for not stepping in.
He is lucky noone was seriously harmed, aside from himself, but again... karma.
What will it take for the people that are paid to look after the stars actually start LOOKING AFTER the stars?

Passerby Passerby said:

His people probably don't butt in because they are afraid of being fired.

So for them to keep their jobs and a steady paycheque they'd risk having him seriously injure himself and possibly others...

Only in Hollywood..

Passerby Passerby said:

He's responsible for his own actions - noone else. Just another example of the too much, too soon for too little effort syndrome of the Hollywood young. The money gives access to people and a lifestyle that they are just not mature enough to cope with. And being surrounded by all the hangers-on only goes to increase the size of their egos and sense of entitlement. I wonder if this one will get a punishment which fits the crime? They can't use the excuse of over-crowded women's jails for a male.

Passerby Passerby said:

Hopefully he will learn his lesson this time by realizing how lucky and blessed he is to be alive and also because he didn't kill anyone. He is reallllly lucky no-one was seriously hurt. It could have be much, much worse. There is no excuse for anyone ever getting a DUI, but especially someone who has a lot of money and can hire someone to drive him or her around. Very selfish act on his part. It is time for him to grow up.

These people are not real actors who had to work their way up to be where they are now. Thay are just little idiots who got lucky one day, and that's why they don't value what they have. You know, easy come, easy go...

Ok, it's pretty clear here that a lot of you know nothing about Shia. First off, I dont condone what he did. It was monumentally stupid, but lets not jump the gun and crucify him just yet. Second, if most of you had an inkling of knowledge about him or his life, you'd know that he has NOT had it easy, was NOT just handed this opportunity, etc. The kid came from the lowest depths of society, so dont go there. He definitely should have known better, he had a front row seat to his own dad's substance abuse recovery.
Lastly, nobody has actually *confirmed* that he was drunk. He was arrested on the basis that cops on the scene saying he appeared intoxicated. Guess what, if your vehicle has been turned upside down and you've hit your head at all... YOU MIGHT APPEAR INTOXICATED. True story, actually happened to me, only difference was I was only 6 at the time. There is no report that a breathalizer was done, no report that bloodwork has confirmed it. Just suspicion. Im not saying that he didnt drive drunk, but lets not get ahead of the proof y'all.

Passerby Passerby said:

I bet if one of your loved ones was seriously injured or even killed by a drunk driver you would have zero tolerance for such poor judgment.

Callie Callie said:

What a horribly ignorant thing to say. I clearly said in my post that I DO NOT CONDONE SUCH BEHAVIOR. All I was saying was we dont know what really happened right now, we only know that he was arrested on the *suspicion*, as in UNCONFIRMED, ZERO PROOF. Learn to read.

I lost my aunt to a drunk driver. She was 19 years old. I cannot understand people who drink and get behind a wheel. Get a cab! If you can go out to drink surely you have a tenner left for a cab. Or if you are a celeb then hire a driver. It's not rocket science.

There is NOTHING WRONG with calling yourself an Alcoholic--those are the folks that NO LONGER drink! There IS something wrong with being a sloppy drunk who drinks, drives, and KILLS PEOPLE!

Passerby Passerby said:

I find it HIGHLY amusing the majority of you are here slamming him. I do NOT condone drunk driving, but I bet you 90% of you b*tching have driven after 2 drinks, even wine. You shouldn't have any sip of alcohol and still drive. NONE. But you lay out your judgement, you all seem to do that so very well on here. By law you can consume one beer an hour, and supposedly be under the limit, and the average person will drive 200 times drunk before ever getting arrested. think about that. And all you high and mighties preaching, shame on you. I am positive I know that you have most likely had a glass of wine with dinner, or what not -

Well i guess i'm not average, because I DO NOT DRINK AT ALL when i'm driving. So i will continue to slam him and any other fool that drinks and drives. Even if you stay below the legal you are still chancing your reaction time in the event of an emergency, but at least you are not breaking the law. My problem is, that punitive measures against drunk drivers are too lean. It seems as though the justice system says, 'no one was seriously injured so pay your fine and have a nice day' and if you are famous, then you get away with just about anything. Harsher punishment is necessary.
