Who Do You Think Jessica Simpson Is Singing About?

Here are some lyrics from Jessica Simpson's song, Remember That:
“When it’s 3 a.m. and he’s at your door and he wants you back...and
he’s begging for forgiveness...remember the whiskey and his
whisper...He said I’ll never do it again...It doesn’t matter how he
hurt you...take it from me, I stood there in your shoes.
It's no secret that Jessica writes the majority of her work. Who could she be talking about? Nick Lachey? Adam Levine? John Mayer? Dane Cook? Or someone from deeper in her past?

IMO I think its all made up, just to get buzz, just like her "abused" story. Or maybe she could be talking about papa Joe and her mom, you rearly see those two together.
I dont think its about Nick Lachey. We're probably reading too much into it anyway.
i think this is all bull-she just wants publicity.what a loser
She actually doesn't write any of her music. I heard that she isn't listed with one single writing credit on this album.

i agree with the above posters, i think she probably just wrote it because it sounds "country" and it isn't necessarily fact based.

I agree that this is fictional. I think these lyrics are very classic country song-type lyrics. So these songs are written to fit into that genre. I am not a country fan.
Those "lyrics" make no sense, there is no "rythm" so to speak....no wonder she's a flop
i agree. i am going to have to hear the song because the lyrics doesn't make any sense. i mean, they make sense but the lyrics don't flow. it just sounds like somebody talking and not singing to a beat.
she is so annoying. she's a hack.

its funny how must posters are ASSUMING she writes her own music and that she can be that deep :)

First off, I don't think she has the talent to write a song. Come to think of it, she doesn't have any talent!!!!!!!!!
She co wrote 8 of the 11 tracks on her new album and 9 on her last.
even if she cowrote the songs-they are still horrible
Actually, Rachel Proctor wrote this song. She also co-wrote "Come on Over". The reason the lyrics don't flow is because parts of the song are added together--it doesn't really go in that order.
That song isn't even sang by Jessica Simpson...its by Rachel Proctor
co-writing means she could have added one word and has a clause with her record label that would list her as a co-author. it doesn't mean she was actually creative/talented enough to come up with an entire song by her self.
this girl has the creativity of an ant.
I don't know who and or what she is singing about, but the lyirics Suck big time.
My guess would be Johnny Knoxville. :)

I have to say, I do feel sorry for her. I get the sense that she's just a lost child even at, what, 26 (?), trying hard to be something that she's not, something that she thinks the world wants her to be, something her dad wants her to be. To be the brand that they all created. I don't think Jessica has ever understood who Jessica is, as a person, as an artist. What makes her tick.
I'm with Lainey, I think she needs some real friends and a whole lot of time to herself. And she needs to stop wearing those clunky shoes!!!

Maybe this song is about those nasty high school girls who abused her. You know the ones she was singing about in her last song.
She is so dumb, i dont think even she knows! jajajaja
I believe she's talking about her ex husband, because he used to always flirt openly with other women when they were together. He used to humiliate and disrespect her all the time! She said in that song 'remember that' he said he wouldn't do it again. She mentioned every other guy she dated besides Nick. That says alot!
How do YOU know that Nick used to flirt with other dudes...Wasn't she still married to Nick Lachey when she did that movie Daisy Dukes and had an affair with Johnny or Seann (can't remember). Anyway, you must be a fan, so I guess its your duty to "serve and protect" huh? LOL
HAHA, sorry guys. It's suppsoed to be WOMEN and not 'dudes'...
C'mon people, those lyrics are obviously about Papa Joe! And she's singing to Ashlee!
i dont know how she still has a career-who buys her music?!?!?!?!
TO THE HATERS; SHE WROTE ALL BUT 3 SONGS FROM HER NEW ALBUM.
SHE SOUNDS GREAT. WHY DON'T YOU GIVE THE GIRL A CHANCE?
IF SHE'S A LOSER LIKE A FEW OF YOU SAID; THEN I COULD ONLY BE SO LUCKY TO BE A LOSER LIKE HER. SHE IS BEAUTIFUL, SHE CAN SING AND WITHOUT KNOWING HER, I CAN TELL SHE HAS A BIG HEART. SHE IS A VERY INNOCENT GIRL.
NICK WAS HER FIRST. AT 28 YEARS OF AGE, SHE HASN'T BEEN AROUND.
HOW MANY MEN HAVE YOU OVER 28 YRS OF AGE, BEEN THROUGH?
GIVE HER A CHANCE!!
Look, sweetheart, poor soul. Let me explain something to you. See, when you're a fan of somebody, you're not going to see the negative in that person only the positive. Other people are stating the obvious. Didn't you read that poster who said that if she inputs at least one word into a song, she automatically becomes co-author? It's not that we're haters, we just see what is there; the truth. And, well, as the saying goes, the truth hurts.

Jessica's had her chance, over & over again, and she keeps coming out with the same old crap.
And Vera, get your facts straight.. she never dated Dane Cook. Do research.
She's singing about her dog Daisy.
hahaha!!

The Daisy comment is hilarious....and most likely true!
Nick Lachey definitely cheated on her back in the. Can't believe you all don't remember the stripper stories.
I have to agree with anon in thinking she may have only added one or two words then took co-writing credits. A lot of big names demand writing credit or they won't use a writer's songs. It's all about getting a big chunk of the money and trying to look more talented than they are. If a writer wants their work to be heard they have to play along. Sad.
Exactly, well put!
What a pretty girl! I just know many sexy and hot singles can be also found on the free interracial dating club ~~###~~I n t i m a t e M i n g l e ...COM ~~###~~ and someone discloses that some celebrities' profiles are also
found there. Don't know whether it's true or not. But it's really a friendly place for people of different races and colors.
omg she makes me sick. and yeah most likely shes talkn bout her dog. she has no talent i dont know why ppl still buy her music she sucks at every thing she does. shes not original at all!!!! and her whole fam. are nothing but weirdos. dont ever come back to texas!!!! and dont go to and dallas games ur bad luck!!!!!!!
If she was really abused, why didn't she just say "I was abused"? To say it as she did, "I don't want to talk about it, but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way..." leaves her a whole lot of wiggle room for her to define "abuse" any way she wants, which probably doesn't match a true battered woman's definition.
She was "abused in a way"...okay what way. Kids in high school teased her, gossip magazines bought pictures of her from her dad, a boyfriend didn't appreciate her "talent".
Give me a break! There are are women broken and bleeding in shelters around this country. It is NOT the same thing, and to pretend it is only makes light of their VERY REAL suffering.
And not only that, to imply that one of the men she's been involved with is a real abuser is despicible!!!
Also, abuse can be in any shape or form. You are really going off the deep end with the battered woman comment. Did you even hear the song? I don't think you did because you wouldnt be bringing highschool into this - that doesn't make any sense. You can't compare the type of abuse she is taking about in the song to the abuse from a woman in a shelter lol. If someone is constantly criticizing and belittling you - that is verbal abuse - and this is what she is singing about. She is not pretending to make light of anything. Emotional abuse can be just as painful as physical abuse and its a song about a woman being broken down. She is saying that a woman doesn't deserve any degree of abuse. Don't you agree?

stop with the "nick cheated" stories... if anyone was abused in that relationship it was him! she's adorable and all that, but i can't imagine having to be in a relationship with her. she's needy and annoying.
I think the song was about Nick Lachey. He seems like a controlling jerk. I like the song and the lyrics and I don't care who wrote it or co-wrote it. If you have just been through an abusive relationship the way she sings it reaches out to you. She performs the song very well.
