Ellen Pompeo Defends Decision To Dress Down On Wedding Day

Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo wants everyone to know that she doesn't regret the decision she made to dress down for her 2007 wedding. The actress wore a black Yves Saint Laurent dress and boots as she married record producer Christopher Ivery last year.
Why you ask? Because Ellen gets dressed up on a day to day basis and really didn't think much of the experience. She tells Allure magazine,

"I get to dress up all the time. I completely understand women wanting a wedding, because most people don’t get to dress up in gorgeous dresses and have their hair and make-up done.

"I, however, am fortunate enough that I get to put on beautiful dresses and make-up and jewels all the time."

All I know is this - they are ALWAYS smiling and looking genuinely happy whenever they are together.

Good for them.

It's not about the dress, it's about the vows and the marriage ahead. Good for her. People make too much out of weddings and not enough out of marriages.

Sounds good to me. I want to be comfortable on my wedding day.

When someone asks you a question about what you wore on your wedding day and why and you answer them, that makes you sound conceited? What she said makes complete sense to me. What doesn't make sense is why anyone would have to explain the decisions they make about such a personal day in their private life to anyone for any reason.

That was a stupid answer. She will probably re-think it once she reads it. We can all get dressed up whenever we damn well want to. Perhaps there is something about a 'wedding' that makes her uncomfortable. We all have hang ups.

she counds conceited! if she feels she shouldnt have to explain herself why open her FUGLY trap to begin with. its her wedding day so let her look like a homeless bum! who cares...why is she famous again?

I'm sorry, are we all reading the same interview response? Her wedding day wasn't as much about what she wore but what she was doing. She goes to premieres and awards shows all the time, so getting dolled up isn't as much fun or as important as it would be to someone who doesn't have that opportunity - she's not bragging. Where do you see conceited? It's a perfectly logical and normal answer. She didn't say she showed up in leather pants and a bloody t-shirt, did she? Wait, that was someone else.
