Paul Newman Dies At 83

Paul Newman has died of cancer at his home in Westport, Connecticut. He was 83 years old. The industry has lost a great individual who will forever be remembered.

Among others, Paul was known for the following films:

  • Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
  • Exodus
  • The Hustler
  • Color of Money
  • Cool Hand Luke
  • Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
  • The Sting
  • The Verdict

I'm reading a bit about him on CNN and there is a quote I have to share. Paul was married to Joanne Woodward, someone who also left a mark on Hollywood. He said he would never cheat on her because... well, I'll let you read it on your own:

"Why would I go out for a hamburger when [I] have steak at home?"

I find that so sweet. Click on the thumbnails below to see some great shots of Paul. His eyes are simply electrifying.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

He was soooo handsome, at any age! And also so concerned about others...the proceeds from his "Newman's Own" products go to his "Hole in the Wall Gang" camps for kids with cancer. My cousin attended one of the camps and got to meet him when she was battling cancer. Rest in peace, Mr. Newman. They don't make 'em like you anymore...

How sad to read. :( He was one of my favorites too, as well as a very goodlooking man throughout his years. At least he's no longer suffering. My heart goes out to his family.

I bet the entire acting community is devestated by this news. I know I am. He was such an honorable man...for his marriage to Joann, for the foundation he started in honor of his late son, and for his charity work with Newman's Own. ALL of the earnings from his food products went to charity. He never kept a dime.

I can only imagine how torn up Robert Redford is. This is such a sad day. If anyone hears of any tributes being aired can someone let me know?

Aside from the fact that he was a great actor he was SO FREAKING GENEROUS and did so much with his fame and money. It's really sad when the world loses such a geniunely good person.

Hottest, classiest Hollywood man ever. He will be missed, what a humanitarian, and husband. I have always known that Hamburger vs. Steak, it is a well known expression. Just made him hotter when I learned it. Loved him since Butch Cassidy the first time I saw it. So handsome, but more importantly, he did so much with the fame he was given for other people less fortunate than himself.
His family and friends are in my prayers.

Will be missed. I love his Salad dressings(yummy Light Lemon Italian) and my dog loves his dog treats (peanut butter in allergy friendly wheat free). Knowing that the proceeds were going to help people and not make someones pockets deeper made me feel better about buying.

They just don't make 'em like that anymore! RIP

he was beautiful inside nd out and it showed - talented, sexy modest, kind - no one comes close to him except brad and ange. rip with the angels

I love the fact that he was real not fake like Brad and Angie! You can tell with all the charities work that he has done came from his heart not the 'look at me, I'm better than you'. He was such a private man and was loved by everybody!! He was brilliant, smart, funny, talented, kind, generous and down to earth man...and of course extremely good looking...look at those magnificent blue eyes!! I just learn that he was colorblind - I had no idea. He will be sadly missed.

A true class act. People of today Hollywood should learn a thing or two from Paul Newman. He was married faithfully to his lovely wife of 50 years. He has been giving away millions away quietly for many years. No whoring himself or his family to the public. This man who gave, came from his heart with no selfishness attached. Too maNy people nowadays are just posing of photo ops and/or announcing how much money they gave - to me that is cheap P.R. Paul was a wonderful man and will be sadly missed. R.I.P.
