Travis Barker Is Eating Meat Again For Added Protein
Oh my goodness... I can just HEAR PETA people around the world screaming in unison about the benefits of beans, tofu and seeds.
In an attempt to get more protein into his diet, doctors have ordered Travis Barker to start eating meat again after 25 years of being vegetarian.

The drummer is on a protein-packed diet after he suffered third-degree
burns in the horror last month (Sep08) - and he has had to go back to
eating meat to speed up his recovery.
The star, who is receiving treatment at a Los Angeles hospital, tells
Us Weekly magazine that he has no regrets about his decision. If it will help him heal faster, then he is all for it.
"I need protein from food rather than just protein
supplements. I changed my diet. I would do anything I possibly could if
they said like, ‘There’s a possibility you might heal faster if you do
eat meat or just change your eating habits’. So I did. I don’t regret
it at all, I feel so much better."

That´s was my opinion too after i started eating meat again years ago,everything in moderatoin is the answer to a healthy life.
i wish him a speedy recovery. at this point, his health is his main concern so he's going to do anything to help speed up his reovery, which i would do too.

we were born with teeth made to eat meat....if we were meant to eat only leaves wed have flat teeth....i love me some meat....lol.
Agreed!! Humans are physically meant to be omnivores, not vegetarians. While I do believe that many can live a healthy life as a vegetarian, Travis’ body has just suffered a major trauma and needs to “get back to basics” as it were.

Good for him! I wish him a speedy recovery and I hope that PETA or any other crazy vege-psychopathic entities keep to themselves! Now I'm going to get back to my filet and eggs.....
I recently started eating fish and meat after being a vegetarian and I feel so much better, and I've lost weight.
Travis is definitely doing the right thing for his body at this time.
I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

How did you start back? I haven't eaten red meat in 15 years and I know people that said it has been painful at first (stomach). Did you find that? Or did you do a little at a time? I really want to know since I have been considering it. Thank you!
In a very small portions in the beggining,slowly and not thinking about it and feeling guilty:)It took me a little time time to adjust and i felt so much better than when i was a vegetarian

Think about it....cows only eat grass yet they mostly consist of muscle. Apes don't eat meat yet they are big and stong. We aren't made to eat meat.

Rhonda, I first stared by eating very small portions of fish, then I slowly added small portions of white meat.
I still haven't eaten red meat yet, but I intend to. I will start with a very small amount and see how I feel.
So far I haven't had any adverse effects, not physically anyway, just mentally!
Initially I felt bad about eating animal flesh, but I know I am obviously not suited to a fish and meat free diet.
I still eat everything I ate as a non fish and meat eater, ie lots of vegetables and beans etc, I don't eat fish/meat every day.
I feel so much healthier in every respect since I added fish and meat back into my diet. My hair, nails, skin are also looking much healthier.
If you do decide to change your diet, I suggest you do it very gradually, maybe leaving a day or two without meat to see how you feel.
Your body will let you know, follow your intuition.

Thanks Victoria! I'm still not sure if I can though. I know exactly what you mean with the mental side.
There are plenty of high protein choices from non-animal sources. So maybe he heals faster now but he'll die sooner from clogged arteries and high cholesterol.

What he actually said was "I would do anything I possibly could IF THEY SAID like ‘There’s a POSSIBILITY you might heal faster if you do eat meat or just change your eating habits’." Read that carefully...how do you get that a doctor ordered him to eat meat out of that? Personally I could care less what he eats and I am not passing judgement - I just get annoyed by people who jump to conclusions not based on stated facts. BTW I have been a vegetarian for 40 years and am feeling fine, thank you.
