Samantha Ronson Responds To Prop 8 Passing

Samantha Ronson Responds To Prop 8 Passing

i guess people care more about farm animals than they do their fellow man, that's really sad to me.

yes, i am glad that the chickens will have more room and better conditions as they wait to die, but i just think it's frightening that people show more compassion for tomorrow's dinner than for the chef.

yup, miss piggy and chicken little may rest easy, but gay people in florida and california can no longer get married and gay couples in arkansas can't adopt children. g-d forbid a loving family (regardless of sexual orientation) give a needy child a home! there aren't children out there in dire need of love and shelter, no this country is thriving and no child is in need.

oh well, i guess one out of four ain't bad!

Exactly what Ms. Ronson is talking about. Sad, when we care more about animals than humans.

She's totally right. I find it very weird that some people have more compassion for their pet than for other people.

ya really why did they get the right to marry in the first place if it was just going to get taken away? its like giving a kid a piece of candy and then snatching it away and laughing at them...god i can't wait to leave this country.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

has hell frozen over? i actually agree with her. why give them the right in the first place just to take it away?

Em Em said:

eddie, i could not agree more. why do people chose people over pets when people are mean, they betray you, cheat on you, make fun of you, etc. animals give you their all no matter what. they will always put you first. i can not understand why people push them aside wo easily. people like that don't deserve animals.

Sounds like some people in here have "people" issues... Ive got a 5 year old cat, that I ADORE and I love all pets and animals. But 100% agree with what Sam Ronson said in her blog. I don't live in California but I am really saddened by the results of Prop 8. ***annie***

animals (pets & farms) are helpless and they need us to take care of them, that's why it seem that people care more about animals than people. Animals don't have a voice and they're relying on us to help them. Yes it's disappointing that they passed prop 8 but it's not the end of the world. It will take time and someday gays and lesbians will be able to get married. It's not like the same sex couples can't live together or raise a family or anything. They can still live together as if they're married - they just don't have that piece of paper.

So tax-exempt churches, the Mormons and Catholics, have nothing better to do than to fight this bill, with money that could actually have been put to a better use, e.g. helping abused children. The Mormons alone spent more than $ 20 million on this, while it's still ok for them to have several wives, marry women who are younger than 16 etc etc. The Catholic church should spend their time and money actually caring for the abuse victims of pedophile priests, instead of financing Prop 8. Thou shalt not judge!

More gay people should follow Melissa Etheridge's suit and withhold taxes.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Not ALL Mormons and Catholics said Yes to Prop 8. So lets stop pointing fingers at certain groups. I'm Catholic myself and voted NO on Prop 8.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I could not agree more with Samantha and also with the other poster that said not all Catholics agree with it or support it.

I agree that animals should be treated humanely, I have pets and I could never harm an animal... but I also eat meat and I understand the procedure to bring food to our tables. And everyone that eats meat shouldnt be here and pretend they love animals more than humans. Prop 8 is a big deal to everyone thats fighting for equal rights for gays and lesbians. Its easy to sit here and say no big deal because you are probably not being affected by this. No long ago we were fighting to get equal rights for people of color and now look we have Obama as president-elect ...women also fought for same rights as men (such as voting) and now we are more equal than ever. We still have many walls to bring down when it comes to discrimination. Anyone should have the right to marry the person they love, and they should choose if its just a paper or more meaninful. They want to get married for the same reason a hetero couple marries, they are nothing different from you and I and I cant believe that we still have people so close minded.

She actually had posted a blog the previous day telling people to vote no on prop 8 and yes on prop 2 about the animals. She is a dog owner. She then when the Prop 8 results came out,she posted that she was so happy about the animals, yet so unhappy about people.Read more carefully. She has a dog that she actually takes it better care than herself.

Okay, so sadly animals are being treated better that humans. Most agree that we don't want animals mistreated but that humans should be treated better, with dignity and equal rights for all. My question is why is this dignity and equal rights not extended to unborn humans, specifically "unwanted" unborn humans?

Based on people's logic about pet's they are "helpless and they need us to take care of them", unborn humans are also helpless and need us to take and even protect them. So based on this simple logic then we should ban abortion which terminates the life of a helpless unborn human? Please don't go balistic on me but based on people's logic it seems that eventually the arguement would go there : )

animals are being treated horribly. Have you seen a footage that shows how animals are treated in slaughter houses. Nobody is treating gays like that. These are two separate issues. Shame on Samantha. Biatch.

You basically sum up everything wrong with the world. You are completely clueless...she was not saying to mistreat animals!!! She was saying that people protect animals--which is great---but they do not protect gays. Gays are mistreated...not allowed to see their dying partners in hospitals, have their homes taken away when their partner dies, and denied all the over 1000 other different benefits of marriage. Domestic partnerships do not give them full benefits and neither do civil unions. Separate but equal and justification of a law due to the bible sounds exactly like what we did as a nation to African Americans back in the day. (By the way,as an African American I am outraged that my own people were voting against gay people. Have they all forgotten it was done to us?)Gay marriage does not hurt anyone--it only helps two loving people who would live together and sleep together anyway --more protection for their partner. If you look at the statistics--gays work in the helping professions--nursing,teaching ,etc. more than any other group. They help your community and you turn your backs.

to make so much progress on tuesday only to be set back so much the very next day is disheartening. over 60% of californians voted for barack obama. and yet more than 50% voted for prop 8. how?? i guess people are ready for change...just not too much change. so sad.

oh, cry me a river. i'm so sick of these celebs slamming their sexual deviations down our throats. since when is it a good idea to give special rights to a group of people based on who they have sex with? geez, the people voted, get over it!

You have to understand, its not giving people special treatment - its giving them the SAME rights as heterosexual couples. There is nothing "special" about that. Nobody is slamming their sexual "deviations" down your throat. People can be who they want to be and be with who they want to be with - celebrity or otherwise! All they want is to have the same recognition. The people voted, yes, but the people voted wrong! Surely, equality for all is what we're aiming for!

It's sickening that this type of discrimination exists. No one wants to be discriminated against because of skin color or religion but we do because of sexual orientation.

I never thought it would happen, but I agree with her.... and she's saying it's great for animals and she's happy about that but Prop 8 sucks.... it's nothing to do with "privilages" and everything to do with equality. I'm all for same-gender marriages.... everyone has the right to be treated the same way

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I understand her being upset BUT does she really need to attack Prop 2 and animals having SLIGHTLY better living conditions? I'm sure the people who voted for that also voted against Prop 8. She should have wrote less bitching about animal rights and focused on her rights.

I'm not sure why people care if homosexuals get married. Who is it affecting? Not you! Let them get married. GEEZ. It's shouldn't be anyones decision.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Get over yourselves, animals are being tortured and treated in ways that some ignorant people cannot even being to comprehend. Of course that should get priority. While I think its ridiculous that gay people cannot marry or do whatever else they want because of some stupid law, the fact is that their suffering isnt even comparable to what these animals go through. Samantha is a self indulgent bitch for even going there.

I promise if she or any one else put yourself in the place of a battery chicken for just one day, you would be so grateful for what you have you dont even know.......
