Well I liked it, but I agree, it makes me want to read the books again. I thought it was good in a really different way than the books, you know. Like you kind of have to think of them as two totally separate things.

Bummer you didn't like it. We are going to the movies on Thanksgiving night with my sis and her family. My choice was Twilight. All I got was a blank stare from everyone. I think The Changeling is winning out. It sounds depressing to me.

The changeling is INCREDIBLY depressing. I would not recommend, especially over a relaxing holiday weekend.

Vera, like you, I felt cheated. There were some scenes of the movie that I liked (the Cullens & the Hale entering the cafeteria on Bella 1st day, Rob in his RayBan, the baseball scene, that's it!), but my overal opinion is that the book was rushed. Most importantly, they did not establish the intensity of Bella and Edward relationship, which I think, is key to the entire series (its about there love, they conflicts they face due to their differences (mortal & immortal) and what they will do to stay together, forever). With that said, I did not like the movie, i was very disappointed :( Yes, I'm also re-reading all the books for the 3rd time. :) I hope moving forward they will do a better job on the other series. BTW, Rob Pattison was awesome as Edward, and very hawt! :)

It's not that I liked the movie, I just liked looking at Edward. And his Dad.

I posted my comments here.

I've read the saga 6 times in the last two months, so the story was definitely fresh for me and maybe that's why I felt so gypped. But I don't even feel like it's the omissions so much as how they fit the "leftovers" together. It just didn't "flow" right. "You repulse me... I'm a monster, see how dangerous I am and how I sparkle?... Now we're in love! Yay!" Gah.

I know how you feel, but it really does get better the second (and third) time. I didn't go repeatedly because I loved the movie, I went because I wanted to see if I could get past that initial "eh!" reaction. Once I knew what to expect, I did like it better, though the second half of the movie is certainly better than the first!

I really loved it the 2nd time. My expectations were so through the roof the first time and I was in a theater full of girls giggling in serious parts, etc. But it was SO much better the second time. I am really excited about New Moon but I hope they stick much better to the book this time. I needed more build up, etc in this one and it didn't deliver. It was really rushed & choppy in many parts.

I haven't read the books but I'm going to after seeing the movie. I thought it was alright but a lot about it didn't add up to me so I figure reading will be a better experience. I agree about Edward, wooooo I am happily married but he was nice to look at for a while!

Just got back from seeing the movie for the first time: have to agree, it was "eh". Entertaining, but "eh". Cedric, I mean, Edward, was too brooding, and the casting wasn't the greatest. Really liked Alice, anxious to see her character develop, and thought Jacob was cast wonderfully: also anxious to see his character develop in the upcoming adaptations. But the others weren't what had been conjoured in my mind through the power of the written word. Thought the final shot set up the next movies nicely. But, on the whole, books are ALWAYS much better than the movie, so I go in with that in mind. Will go to see the others as they come out, but will continue to read and reread the books, because that is where the heart is.

I said the SAME THING - Allison and Jacob were the only two perfectly casted. Jasper runs with the Edward Scissorhand look too much and Rosalie... don't get me started on Rosalie!

And Vera, have you read Midnight Sun (Twilight from Edward's perspective) yet? You can find the partial draft online, and you will recognize a lot of the dialogue from the movie. It may make you see things in a new light...though Edward was still too brooding and the cast still wasn't the best...
