Paula Abdul Says American Idol Didn't Protect Her From Crazed Fan

Paula Abdul Says American Idol Didn't Protect Her From Crazed Fan

OH MY GOODNESS! Talk about doing anything for higher ratings! When Paula Abdul saw Paula Goodspeed at one of her American Idol auditions, she told the bosses that she was a stalker for the past 17 years. And they did NOTHING ABOUT IT.

"She came to the audition. I said, ‘This girl is a stalker of mine. Please do not let her in.’ I was shaking. The producers thought, for entertainment value, it would be funny. Fun for them to cause me stress. It would make good television.

"If you look at the audition on YouTube, you’ll see I couldn’t even look up.

"But it wasn’t just once. She showed up again in Las Vegas and she showed up the following year."

It didn't end there. Fox Broadcasting then filmed a segment at Abdul's home practically giving her address away to anyone who wanted it.

"(Then) Fox broadcasting literally went to my house and gave my address away and showed how easy it is to break in."

MIND YOU, Goodspeed wrote several threatening letters to Paula in the past. But this wasn't enough for American Idol to protect their judge.

"The letters that were written were about bodily harm.
She said that the only way I will serve my purpose is when I am up in heaven being her guardian angel."

So why stay? After all of this? Why remain on American Idol? Paula says she is under contract.

"Well, I’m still under contract."

Unbelievable!

Given how the events unfolded this makes AI looks pretty bad. This person needed help.

The producers own these shows
they are not real
i know for a fact they are a sham
especially nashville star
one of the agents to one of the performers over heard the
producers of nashville star talking about how long they
will keep such and such in and so forth
we have no say in any of it cause their money is on the line
the only reason you vote for these is to see what the people want
and who they will buy records from

I am not a Paula fan, and I don't see her looking especially uncomfortable in the clip above. BUT! This whole thing is all over the blogs that Paula "slammed" Idol, etc. UH! NO! The facts speak for themselves and Paula was exploited, along with that crazy stalker girl. The whole thing is just pathetic.

It's sick. But then again, why did Paula go along with it and pretend as if it didn't bother her? She could have easily walked off the set. After all, she is a star player in American Idol, she wouldn't have been fired for walking off and standing her ground. The whole thing is such utter stupidity. Things like this is the reason why I stopped watching American Idol after the third season. Playing with people's emotions is downright nasty and disgusting.

I watched the video and it seemed to me that Paula was a little upset when she walked into the door, especially during her "evaluation" thing, she said 'Im speechless, and it's not a good thing"...something tells me she was talking about MORE than just her singing. Plus the cips of her laughing along look edited to me. I dunno...but Im on Paula's side on this. AI will do anything for ratings, entertainment, and they are very shady. I wouldnt doubt at all that they knew about the stalker, and let her go on anyway. ***annie***

I figured it might be editing as well. If everything she said is true, there should be a lawsuit filed against American Idol.

This is terrible. People think it's not a big deal when stars have stalker fans but there are some batschit crazy people out there. Remember the chick that tried to run Sandra Bullocks' husband over?? Paula Abdul will think about this girl for the rest of her life. How sad that her family didn't get her the help she needed. What a waste of life.

That is disturbing... they're pretty much laughing at the whole thing.

ok on the clip it said Paul Goodspeed is 27 years old and Abdul said that she was stalking her for the last 17 years....so that mean she was stalking her at the age of 10??? I find that hard to believe.

While I agree that the producers should not have allowed Paula Abdul's stalker on the show, Paula does not appear to be upset to me. She goes along with the ribbing and kidding and even dances along with the singing at one point. True it could be edited, BUT if I had been in Abdul's position, I would have walked out of the room and not involved myself in any way. I have seen judges literally get up and walk away on American Idol before.

It's not at all surprising how some of the contestants react ... anger, hurt, resentment. The comments are often downright cruel. Afterall the early auditions footage is merely shown as comic relief. I don't even watch it because it's just mean.

Paula Goodspeed was obviously mentally ill and it's a sad story that she had no one in her life to help her.
