First Listen: Britney Spears' If You Seek Amy

WOW!!! After listening to it, I can see why parents are a bit concerned. I can't believe they are making this their next single! If it was just on the cd, then it is what it is, but placing the single on public airwaves might not be the best move for Britney Spears' newest song. Take a listen to If You Seek Amy (and read up on the controversy if you missed that story).

Let me know what you think. Now that you've HEARD the way If You Seek Amy is sung, what do you think about the song?

I like the song a lot. If parents are just now starting to pay attention to the sexually-charged lyrics of Britney then they are not the brightest bulbs. There are much more explicit songs on her earlier albums, in my opinion.

I like the song, but I can tell what she is saying. Since I have never heard any of Britney's songs, I can't compare this song to her past ones. I just know she has a reputation for that type of song. But I did pick up on it, so if I had young kids they wouldn't be listening to Brit. My kids didn't like her so that is why I have never heard any of her songs, and I would have never listened to her. She has just never been my thing.

She is not a Train wreck how ever I agree her fan base when she started was 16 and 17 years old hello people she is not a tween anymore she is not going to sing about little girl stuff she is an adult duh 2 kids

If parents are so outraged then maybe they should start expending more energy on being a parent to their children rather than complaining about it. My little sister is 13 and I gave her a copy of Circus, but I took out all of the songs that I knew were inappropriate. I know she will eventually know about this song and how sexual it is but at least I deterred it for some time.

Not a Brit fan but had to listen after the uproar. I don't think it's hugely obvious but the lyrics are a bit telling.

"But all the boys and all the girls are begging to, If You Seek Amy"

Ok, really. What does that mean? In the context of the song it makes no sense. So yeah, I'd have to say it was done purposely, brilliantly for a bit of media. Any attention is good attention, yeah, isn't that what kids still think?

the If you seek Amy part is seriously synthesized, making that part stand out just a bit more. So yup, definitely done on purpose. Betcha everyone and their mum will run out and buy the music now. Pretty smart marketing.

Whatever.....I think the sneakiness of it is brilliant, but the song....whether it's "seeking amy" or "F---K" Me is kinda all over the place and makes no sense. ***annie***

Anonymous Anonymous said:

The song isn't censored on the album so the "If U" isn't edited out. I think this is just a fan made "censored" version that they think will get played on the radio. Anyways, the song was intended to contain the double meaning, but other than that one line, it really isn't an EXTREMELY sexual song. Anyways, her songs have always been suggestive in one way or another and if parents are JUST NOW figuring that out then they need to get a clue.

If everyone is shocked by it, they should look at her record- she likes to shock a little bit. And, with the title being "If You Seek Amy" it's not like the younger kids would have automatically made the connection until they heard about it from their parents.... okay, getting off of my soap box now. :) *~Sassy~*

"All the boys and girls are beggin' to if you seek Amy."

I believe that trying to be clever and cute and cover up what the song is really about is kind of devious. Just suck it up and get the parental warning put on instead of trying to be funny.

I don't even have any kids, but I guess that I wouldn't appreciate this either if I did. After looking at the words, there is no other way of looking at this. People aren't imagining it.

Okay i had to listen to it a few times after my daughter who is not allowed to listen to Brittany at all came home saying mom you'll never guess the the "F" word is in a song. First thing i thought was "rap" yea i'd believe it.

So I asked her for more information and came across the song. Now maybe I'm not very bright or maybe like a lot of parents when the title says If You Seek Amy. Made me not hear it a few times till my daughter spelled it out for me.
Then I listend to it and it was unmistakenly not If you seek Amy

The way it goes is if isn't if at all except in two lyrics. it's actually F

the You you hear right is U See is not see but C. and then the KA go together and the the it's Me

so it sounds like if you seek amy which it is very clear in the first and last verse but if you listen to it you actually see it change. Extermly smart marketing ploy but it doesn't change the facts. of what this song really says. Personal as an adult I like it , the music is catchy and If it was anyone but Brittany singing it i might actually listen to it again. Kinda like Paris's one song was good but to bad it was song by her, therefore i never listened to it except on you tube. I would definatly not let my children listen to the song. But then again i'm sure our parents and grandparents thought the same thing of "wild thing" but I still don't want my kid saying that word let alone singing it spelled out.

Personally, I think the song is absolutley pathetic. I would like it if it was a bit more witty in it's attemts to put in the obscenity but it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. "all of the girls and all of the boys are begging to if you seek amy" makes absolutley no sense whatsoever, anyone in their later stages of primary school could figure that out within seconds. However "all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to F*CK me" makes sense. What I find so idiodic is that, whoever wrote the song, tried to so very pathetically to make the song actually about a person, when really the song is actually just a novelty. If the chorus made sense, I'd love the quirky little pun but it's rediculous and practically holds a massive sign saying "look what I'm ACTUALLY spelling out for you!"
