Fact Or Fiction: The Real Reason Melissa George Left Grey's Anatomy

So actress Melissa George reportedly finished filming for Grey's Anatomy this past Tuesday. And now she's reportedly coming clean about why she really left the show. Melissa was supposedly courted by Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes to play a lesbian character, but ABC reportedly kept that from happening.
'So many pages were being cut from my character every week,' Melissa
told a friend. 'I was supposed to have a full-blown love affair with
Callie (played by Sara Ramirez), but Shonda said the network
was making too many notes on the storyline. At first she commiserated
with me, but then when I'd complain, she wouldn't even talk about it.
My agents calls went unanswered, and I wasn't just going to sit there.
Shonda promised me something and she didn't deliver. That's when I
decided it's time to go.' "
It did seem like the firing of the actress who played Hahn (Callie's first lesbian lover) did not bode well for Melissa's character, Sadie. Yet with an impending actors' strike, and no other work lined up, it seems like an unusual time to leave a job! Then again, Melissa may not need the work. And it sounds like there was tension with Shonda, too.
Melissa went on to tell her pal that Shonda is 'a nightmare. She's really lovely — until she wants to punish you.' "
Why would she want to punish Melissa? Could this be damage control from Melissa's camp since her option wasn't picked up for more than the initial number of episodes?
What do you think?

If this is true, it might not be such a great idea to bad mouth your boss so publicly....
good luck to her finding a new gig
the first chick, melissa george i guess, is in serious need of some orthodontic work. how's it going BUCKYYYYY?
and didn't she play a lesbo in friends? she played ross and rachel's lesbo nanny. seems to me when people are hard up for attention, they play the gay acting card. or maybe she has secret fantasies about snatch. dirty skank.

that show is such a joke. it was never my favorite - i used to watch it on dvd when my treasured shows (lost, the office, 30 rock) were off season. but man, after the first disc of season 4 i just couldn't go on.
I think the story was blown out of proportion. I doubt that is a direct quote.
1. I'm sure Shonda courted Melissa George to play a lesbian (which can be confirmed by EW's Ausiello), but after the TV execs decided to go against it, there was no story for her. So she left the show.
2. She won't have trouble finding work. She was just nominated for a Golden Globe. Give the girl a break.

I used to be a BIG BIG fan of Grey's Anatomy, but now... it's not the same show of the first two and ever tree years.... not only because of the relationship between Mer and Derek that now is complitely absent, but even for all those characters that come and go.... i don't like all lesbian just for Callie... I prefer her with Mark.... I don't understand why fired Hann for her sexuality and add a new lesbian character just to replace her.... I really don't understand....
Melissa can be a great actress but I don't like her in GA!!

Although I still am a big fan of GA (and disagree with Martina on that side, the beginning of this season was awesome), I have to agree with Martina about Melissa's character. I *hate* her guts. And although she was already hired to be in a relationship with Callie, after Hahn's left, they should have done something (like changed Melissa's character altogether) because it's quite annoying knowing one is (still) doing what the other couldn't do.

Nah. I watch Greys and its obvious her role has been cut down immensely more than originally planned. They had her show up in a huge entry and then completely effed up all the storylines. Shonda Rhimes totally seems like the person who would be a major nightmare if she didnt like you or thought you were getting into her creative zones. The podcasts paint her as one of those vindictive eccentrics who is generally a sweet person unless provoked. Doesnt mean the sweetness isa lie, just means shes not one faceted.
I have written so many letters to ABC regarding ALL the gay/lesbian storylines that are taking place on Grey's and Brothers and Sisters. To each their own however, don't put in my face while I am trying to watch something for entertainment! Leave these storylines for the LOGO channel!!!!
wow, abc can write what ever story lines they wish including those that include gay/lesbian love storys. YOU on the otherhand do NOT HAVE TO watch them. so go watch some other network if your unhappy with the story lines. I love the storylines. There are gay/lesbian people out there you can't just go up to them & ask them to stop it so deal with it or just watch something else.
