Some People Approve Of Jessica Simpson's Curves: Her Trainer & Me!
I have to admit, I was rather surprised at how many websites were calling Jessica Simpson "fatty" (said websites will remain nameless ;) after pictures of her from a recent performance came out. True, she looks like she may have gained a few pounds, but fat?!
Well, one person is coming to Jessica's defense: her former personal trainer, Harley Pasternak.
She has curves where a woman needs to have curves. We all go a little
bit up and a little bit down. But she's healthy. She's still sexy.
She's still a beautiful woman. And I have no problem with the way she
looks.' He adds, 'I think if more people looked the way she looks now,
the country would be a lot healthier.' "

take her body any day over somebody who's emaciated and looks

This is one of the aspects of being a celebrity I can't even imagine: having people scrutinize my body so closely!
What do you think: does Jessica actually look overweight here? Maybe our ideas of "average" have become distorted from looking at so many pictures of super-thin (and airbrushed) models and actresses?

Actually if she were wearing clothes that fit her better, she would have looked just fine. That outfit would have looked bad on a lot of women, some just know how to dress to flatter their figures.

She's not that big but she does look a bit too soft and squishy...I don't think anyone needs to be stick thin, but she doesn't look very fit to me...

Firstly, I hate those pants. I think my daughter's Raggedy Andy doll is wearing the same thing. And those belts? One would have been too many. Secondly, I can't stand Jessica. However, she isn't fat. She has gained weight, but she is not fat. I think if she had a real manager and her dad stayed far, far away and she had a good stylist, she probably would not be the big joke she is. She still has no talent and she is still performing at chilli cook-off fairs. But a stylist and a manager or PR agent can work wonders.

She is not fat. That outfit is to blame. The pants and belts are really bad. The belts probably make her look wider through the waste because there are two of them. Also her big hair hiding her neck isn't helping.
These pics of Jessica make me feel a whole lot better about my own self image. I'm 5'5 and 145 lbs. A lot of what I have is muscle but I still have a squishy stomach and such. And when I look at pictures of stars who are a size zero and they get called fat it makes me sick because if they are fat, then what the hell am I?! I'm of the perfect average weight for someone my age and height. So now that I'm seeing Jessica (who is a lot closer to my body type than the other celebs) it makes me feel that I'm not fat. And there are people out there who can still be a healthy, average size and not feel bad about it.

she was just sooo tiny before, so this is a really stark contrast to her newlywed days. guess it just depends on what each individuals definition of fat is. u have to dress to flatter & this certainly isn't flattering at all. it takes enormous discipline to stay thin as u get older...that's for sure.

I think it would have been nice to see her in a different outfit. That one is just so unflattering on so many different levels. Even a skinny girl would look yuckie. But she has fabulous curves none the less and she needs to show them off with good clothing, that way there is no excuse to say "omigod, she's so fat". She's not fat, it's just an UGLY outfit. I mean, we call Ugly Betty "ugly" because of her clothes, not her beauty.

I wish she would just stop wearing those waist high mom jeans... they say they make you look slimmer, but everyone knows people wearing them aren't exactly slim. It's awful, they look like they're size too small for her and she just seems really squished on top.
She's not fat by any means it's just that outfit is horrible. The pants, the belts the tank top, those pockets its just god awful and would have been unflattering on even the skinniest and most toned person.
I really can't believe I just stuck up for her, I really can't stand her but don't call her fat when she just has hideous taste.

Weight situation aside - that is the worst outfit i've ever seen her wear.
I think she needs a stylist over a trainer.
I do not think she looks "fatty" at all. Like someone else said, that outfit would not be flattering on anyone....
I do think it's nice that her former trainer is defending her. He sounds like he helps people get healthy, not Lindsay Lohan skinny which looks far worse than a bit of meat on the bones.

horrible outfit, the mommy jeans GOTTA GO! Whoever let her out of the house in those jeans, and an ill-fitting bra, needs to be fired. LOL. She does look to have put on some holiday weight, but who in the real world didn't... If she was worried about it, i'm sure she'd be hiring a trainer and kickin ass. We all know she can look kickin when she's trying.

I don't think jessica looks overweight at all, but I do think she needs to think a little more about how to dress her body. She has wonderful curves and is out there for all of us ladies who are more than stick figures. I think the jeans are pretty awful, though.
The outfit that Jessica is wearing is horrible. It is completely unflattering. However, on another note, Jessica still looks better than Vanessa Minnillo!

"FAT" is not the right word. She's put on a few yes, but it looks like she's been taking a break from workouts. Jessica seems to be the type that HAS to workout regularly to maintain her figure - I'm the same way, it doesn't take long to get soft, no matter my diet I HAVE TO work out. She's also not dressing for her body type. Besides the outfit being beyond hideous - EPIC FAIL! The double belt was obviously meant to disguise a less than flat tummy, high-waisted jeans look good on ABSOLUTELY NO ONE & if you're bulging out of your tank top you really need to rethink the situation. Thick or thin she's still beautiful and I'd rather look like her than the vast majority of Hollywood's stick girls!

When you have a short torso and...how do I put this delicately...have a nice pair of ladies, removing any spare surface area with belts and then adding to it with a skin tight shirt isn't going to be doing you any favors. I don't think she's fat - at all. But I agree, this outfit is awful.

She looks great (maybe not in this outfit though!!) and it allows other women to relate to her and feel better about themselves and think they're okay, instead of comparing their body to the typical stick thin, unrealistic celeb.

I agree with Jessica...do you remember those pics that came out a few years ago of Hilary Duff and everyone was calling her fat? If you recall, the pics of Hilary were taken at that angle as well. Hmmm.....
She just lost a lot of muscle mass and looks pudgy because of it but she is not fat. Plus that outfit is not flattering.

Hate the outfit, think her body is great. Poor women fluctuates a lot but I can totally relate to that.
She looks top-heavier, that's for sure, but not fat. Her legs are still thin. Weird.
Her stomach is flat, yes, she is not all skin and bones, but she is by no means fat. In fact, I think she looks great and the outfit is just a little unflattering. If you look at the side picture of her, her body is thin, and in good shape.
She looks great and she also looks healthy. We're just so used to seeing women wearing size 2s and 0s...and even size 00 that we've been programmed to retch if a women is wearing a 4. Jessica's pants are pretty freaking ugly but her body size and shape looks perfect. I would say that she looks normal but then I take another look and I still think that she looks thinner than the average woman. As women, our self-images have been so completely distorted from reality that we don't don't know what's healthy and unhealthy anymore.

Not fat at all, though she did put on a couple of pounds. But she would look fantastic in something else other than that outfit. Everything she is wearing is just WRONG for a flattering fit. Those jeans, on any woman, would look horrendous.
I think the high waisted jeans and animal print belt are not the most fantastic fashion choices.
Aside from that I think she's healthy and beautiful, and I'd rather look at her any day than some poor sickly girl like Lindsay Lohan.

She's not fat. Yeah, she's has more curves--but everyone gains a little weight over the holidays. She's human. (the outfit isn't flattering though). She's actually also probably *happy* for the first time in awhile, thus the weight gain. Her boyfriend probably likes her no matter what her weight is.
I think she just chose and unflattering outfit. High waisted jeans, then a belt above it? I don't think that would be flattering to anyone's proportions.

I just watched a documentary on an 8 year old girl with Anorexia. I think this illness wouldn't be so prevalent in our society if more women had curves like Jessica. I'll agree that she has put on some weight and that her outfit may not have been the best choice, but she looks amazing regardless. I have to give her credit for rockin' those curves in an industry that places so much value on unhealthy, rail thin figures.
On that note, why do girls strive for rail thin figures? I have no desire whatsoever to have that kind of body.

There's nothing healthy about having rolls of batfack or upper arms like Jessica's at her age.
Especially since her lifestyle seems to consist of piling on pounds and then shedding them quickly in a never ending cycle.

I definitely don't think she looks fat... People always use that word for no reason. But the weight does not look good on her at all, some people can afford weight gain and still look extra hot (like Drew Barrymore or Kate Winslet) but other just can, the weight just goes to the wrong places.... And the outfit is not helping either, what was she thinking????????

I still say it's the clothes. Wearing clothes that are obviously too small will make you look larger. Her trainer maybe proud but her stylist needs a whack!

I love it...it is SOOOOOOO the outfit...I am thick and my weight goes up and down and let me tell you...tank tops tucked in and hight waist pants...wide belt...bad idea...she has probably been relaxing and kicking it with her beer drinking, chicken wing eating boyfriend...that is bound to happen when you spend time starving yourself at some point...she looks fine, but maybe should rethink her clothes...and rule number one of the flucuating weight person...keep your "fat" clothes...cuz wearing smaller close is always a bad idea.

Sorry, but the girl is chubby. She can't sing, either. However, she did look great in that video of her in a bikini washing the car. If she doesn't lose 25 pounds within a couple of weeks, she's all done.
It's her chest. Large chests make anyone without an extra skinny waist look heavy. If she had a smaller chest, her weight gains wouldn't be as noticeable.

Jessica is very small in person yet she always looks fuller in photos. I think she is gorgeous and the outfit is not flattering at all. Only tall, skinny models can pull off high waisted jeans. She is short and curvy so she looks a lot heavier than she really is. She looks healthy where Vanessa has lost a lot of weight in the past year and looks like aneoroxic or like a big party girl that doesn't eat and just drinks.
