Jessica Simpson Weight Gain Is A Publicity Stunt?
Interesting twist.
Supposedly Jessica Simpson's weight gain is all part of a media plot to get us talking about her again. If that's true, the strategy is working, because I think I've written about her more in the past two days than I have all year.
"She's loving it," said a source close to Simpson, who suspects her
weight gain is strategic. "It will probably get her back on covers
right when she is a 'supporting' act on tour."
The source also says we should expect to see Jess' dad/manager, Joe Simpson, selling the weight loss as a cover story once she slims down. Her rep has denied all of this, but in this day and age a celebrity's reps word is about as good as OJ Simpson's.
What do you think about this story? Completely fabricated, or is this something you wouldn't put past Jessica to do for press?

the woman just gained a little weight.. my god! people look into things too much.
after all it might be very true. unfortunately every single thing celebrities do is to elevate their visibility. it is like manra. and they have managers and other staff who never let them forget that because their livelihood is based on that as well. disgusting.
oh i really hope its not true. I think she looks good in that Joan Holloway/ Mad Men kind of way - in other words, she looks like me. And she looks amazing no matter what size she is. She's come out an said she's a size 8, which I am also (on my good days) so I feel good knowing that she's "real." She's now become a role model for alot of tweeners.
I hope people stop talking so much crap about her, because teenage girls already have too much media pressure to be size 2.

What woman in her right mind would gain weight for a publicity stunt? I think that story is completely untrue. She's in a relationship she's happy with and to be honest, many women gain weight when they are dating or get married. It just happens that you tend to eat more because your man eats more. I feel bad for her that so many headlines critique her weight all the time.
Jessica is no means is fat but she should not have been wearing that outfit. And I hope she isn't doing this for publicity.

This is old news!!! The latest news that the Star is reporting now is Tony Romo cheated on Jessica the night she left to go on tour. This is sooooo much better. If it is true she needs to dump him and he needs to dump her so he can have privacy to do as he pleases. Without her dad reporting it to the magazines for more publicity for Jessica. Both of them are such losers!!!!

How come no one ever mentions that Lindsay Lohan does EVERYTHING for a publicity stunt? Loses weight, rehab, spreads rumors she cute herself...turns gay.....she does all that so she stays in tabloids and then complains about attenetion.....ugh! But JS has curves and oh it has to be a stunt....I thought she looked fine, bad outfit but fine

Would not be surprised. She needs to realize that she is z list and nobody really cares. Unfortunate! Oh and she says she is a size 8 now. I agree she looks healthy and not fat, that outfit she wore was an 80's trainwreck.. again probably on purpose..

The girl just found love, and is enjoying her self and her family! she realize that she wasn't getting the right publicity after her divorce! and probably "just saying" wanted to step away from the lime light a bit, she has the right to let go a bit, and break out of the "freaking" stress everyone is under in hollywood!!

I think she looks great at that size. But that was a bad outfit for any sized girl. I don't think anyone would purposly gain weight for publicity.

Who Cares... It has been known for a very long time that Jess tends to go up and down in weight. She has always been a curvy gal, and to be honest I think she looks better when she is more up than down. She got way too skinny a while back and if you just do not have that body type naturally it is very hard to maintain. I read somewhere that she was a size 2 in her daisy dukes days and now is an 8, Did you know the average American woman is a size 12?!?!?! (thats what I am too) so if Jess is a fat cow then I am a beached whale. What a horrible message to be putting out there.
It seems celebs cant win, they are either too skinny or too fat, I am glad Jess seems to embrace her body for what it is. As for the pics that caused this fuss, I think it was more of a poor outfit choice and it just made her look bigger than she is, but either way, still beautiful.
Man, she now looks like a linebacker! Have you seen the latest pics? Jeez...
It is completely LAME that the media obesses about Jessica body - she looks FINE - who cares if she gained a few pounds -I'm sure you have too.

I really doubt that Jessica would risk her weight and health just to get some publicity. Plus she's playing at venues right now which would make a woman even more self conscious to be on stage in front of thousands of people!

Ok here is the most honest and straight forward post that you will see on this topic:
1) Jessica Simpson did not get fat for a publicity stunt...that is so ridiculous its not even worth explaining. Just WRONG..
2) For all of you saying she looks good right now: she is clearly overweight. You can tell by looking at her that she is too heavy for her height and frame. She has been way too skinny in the past I agree with that, but now she is fat for sure. There was a point in time where she gained some weight and looked perfect, normal, HEALTHY. This is not the case now.
3) I'm sick of people preaching about how the average U.S. Woman is a size 12. I'm sorry but that is too large, unless you happen to be a tall woman with a large frame. Those statistics take everyone into account, and that includes obese women. I am 5'5 and a size 5, 125lbs. I think thats pretty normal and healthy.
4) Above all else, our economy imploded and we are all royally screwed. WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT JESSICA SIMPSON'S WEIGHT GAIN??
