Jon Voight Still Rooting For Angelina Jolie
No matter what she says or does to him she'll always be his little girl. In spite of their well documented feud, Jon Voight is still pulling for his daughter, Angelina Jolie, to win an Oscar.
"She may get the Oscar, who knows? I would like it and I'm rooting for that."
He's also a Brad Pitt supporter, saying he enjoyed Benjamin Button.
"I thought Brad was brilliant in it," he says. "The piece was brilliant."
But, Jon had no idea that Shiloh was in the movie. I suppose that means the doors of father/daughter communication are still pretty much closed.
"I didn't know that Shiloh was in it," he said. "Really? I wasn't prepared for that ... where is it in the film?"
He also added the even though they were both at the Golden Globes, they didn't speak to one another. How very sad to have that kind of relationship with your own father. But, maybe someday Angelina will find it in her heart to forgive him and find peace with her dad.

Can't forgive her father for cheating on her mom but can forgive herself for being with a married man. Weird.
I'm not a psychologist, but I think the reason Angie is so angry at her dad is because she sees herself in him.....maybe.
I hope she does find peace with her dad, when my mother died I was not speaking to her. I was hard-headed and stupid, she died without me saying another word to her. I regret it forever, it hurts sometimes, I asked her to forgive me at her funeral. I don't think Angelina grasp that concept yet, how can you teach your kids right and wrong and the art of forgiveness when you yourself are not willing to forgive?

Because her Dad cheated on her Mom and eventually left. Then some time after, when she used to do those weird stuff, her Dad called her out and told her she needed help.
One see's in others what they don't like about themselves!
I think it is fair to say that everyone making comments on this board do not know the entire story. Neither do I. Maybe there is more to the story. Lets not forget, these people are actors.

To Cate, I think the feud started when years ago, in an interview, her father said that Angelina had some serious emotional issues. THis was when she was still cutting herself and hanging viles of blood around her neck. Truth is, she did have emotional issues. He also had disclosed to the press that she was indeed adopting a boy from Cambodia (Maddox) before she had a chance to confirm it herself. Now, there may be more to it than that, but I think that's what started it and then it turned into a retaliation by angelina where she accused her father of mistreating her mom and extramarital affairs, and so on. I really am embarrassed that I know all of this.

She always seems so smug to me and to read that she let her Dad stand waiting for a chance to talk to her for 20 minutes the other night without even acknowledging him is so sad. And as others have mentioned, no one, herself included is perfect. GEESH forgive and move on!!! Holding grudges requires so much negative energy!
I'm glad he is taking the high road despite her severe coldness towards him!! That isn't always easy to do!

It goes to show how Anholia is she was upset cause her father had announced that he was a grandfather and she did not want the public to know. What comes around goes around.
I saw the interview where Jon Voight announced Maddox. It was not like he wanted to give her a hard time, it was more like a grandfather being so proud. I remember he said with a big smile "Angie adopted a baby boy", he was so happy! What do you want, I'm pregnant and sometimes I just want to tell my mom "Please don't say anything to anybody yet" but they are grandparents, they live waiting for that moment. But the feud started way before, the affairs he had while married to her mom, the emotional issues that he accused her of having... I just thought that now that she is a mother she will forgive him cause she is also depriving her kids of a grandparent. How ironic would it be if one day her kids won't forgive her for not letting them be close to their grandfather??????????????

Is it the money/fame/power?????????? Cause most of them, the reason is anger. Like Meg Ryan is mad at her mom because her mom left her Dad. I mean, I get mad at my parents so much sometimes but then when I think about it for a few minutes, I'm like "What if that was our last conversation?" so I grab the phone, call them and try to make peace. One thing I don't wanna feel is a forever regret that I took my parents for granted, no matter how pushy, annoying, and sometimes just right in your business they are.

while Jon Voight does appear to be somewhat of a womanizer in his younger years, Angelina's mom(RIP) appeared to be a woman with a difficult character. I can't put my finger on it but something seemed odd about her. I have a feeling she was not a stranger to too much drama, slight psychosis, and bouts of hysteria. Jon Voight seems like a great gradfather type now. It is a shame Jolie is not reconciling with him.

i really think she needs to reconcile with her dad...life is way to short to be stayin angry at people..i mean has he even seen he his grandkids besides seeing them in people magazine??
She didn't treat her mother all that much better than she does her father. Her mom was fighting a losing battle with cancer for over a year while she jetted all over the world without taking the time to even visit her mom. I remember reading about her mom cutting pictures of the kids out of magazines because she didn't have photos of them to look at and show off to her friends.
Darling Angie was partying drunk in New Orleans only a couple of nights before her mom passed away. She wasn't even with her when she died!
The last Christmas her mom was alive, they were off vacationing in some tropic resort instead of visiting with her and letting her see the kids one last time!!
She has been milking her mom's death for all it's worth since she passed, but couldn't be bothered to spend any time with her while she still had the opportunity to do so!!!
I don't think she could have been much more cold-hearted toward her mother while she lived, but has played the mourning card ever since!!!
Why would she be nice to her father?? It's worth sooooo much more print ink to give him the cold shoulder in public!!
I am going to laugh so hard when her kids stop speaking to her one day, because you know they will be just as strong willed as she is!

Gee Gee, sorry to hear about your mom and I agree with the other commenter, I'm sure she's forgiven you and loves you. Right now, my brother, who is an alcoholic, is not speaking to ANY of his family (3 siblings and parents, and my aunt) over something he thinks we did to him that was wrong (tried to get him help) and I dread "the call"....you know, the one that usually comes in the middle of the night, giving you horrible news....meanwhile, we have not seen his daughter/my niece in over 5 years, and it really hurts. I realize life is short and every day is a gift with your loved ones, but sometimes we don't all get along, and as someone else stated above, we really don't know everything....however, having said that, I think it's a shame Angelina is depriving her kids of their grandpa. One day she might live to regret it.

I don't pass judgment on anyone's relationship with their parent(s). The relationship between parent and child is one of the most complex relationships we ever have. It's a very private thing and no one can really fully understand the complexity of the entire situation but the people actually involved.
I find it so classless and cruel of Angelina Jolie (Voight) to cut her father from the lives of her children the way she has. How can she NOT forgive her father for doing the same thing SHE did? The past is the past, move on and let those kids know a loving grandfather. It's clear that Angie has never learned Unconditional Love....watch out Brad. You may be next on her "ignore" list one day

I don't understand why people are putting Voight on a pedastal. He isn't an innocent victim. He helped to cause the riff. Nobody knows everything that happened in their relationship. Their problems began in her childhood and has been up and down ever since. A couple of things happened in 2002-2003 that ended their relationship: Voight gave Angelina a hate filled letter calling her worthless, going on tv shows saying she needed help for mental/drug problems eventhough Angelina already went through treatment and was turning her life around (she wasn't as wild and doing UN work) and he was telling the press about Angelina's personal life (Maddox's adoption, etc). Maybe Angelina could be more forgiving but you can't just erase 30 years of bad feelings and there may be issues nobody knows about. It's really unfair to lay all of the blame on Angelina when nobody knows what happened between them.
What? She was still a heroin addict at that time. Her father was trying to reach her to get her some help. He mentioned Maddox because he was a proud grandpa. No different than Victor Garber (godfather) mentioning Jennifer Garner's children to the press. Angelina is a control freak who is cruel and unforgiving. She can forgive Brad for cheating on his wife, she can forgive parents who put their children in orphanages but she can't forgive her own father? Uh huh. Notice she has no friends whatsoever. hmmmm

Bunch of crock. She won't forgive him because he cheated on her mother. And what she did is different.. how? I don't really have a problem with her pursuing a married man because hey, if hes game the blame lies on both fo them. BUT depriving a man of meeting his grandchildren and begrudging him of decency in his old age for a crime she is guilty of is tacky and hypocritical. No matter what, you do some things like apologize even if isnt your fault for family. Especially family thats suffering and not going to hang around a lot longer. Shes pretty pathetic for a decent human let alone her saint persona.
He can forgive her for all her crazy ways and mistakes but she can't forgive him?
