Rachelle Lefevre Won Twilight Role Because She's Vampire Obsessed

Ok, I'll admit, when I saw the movie, I thought "She is gorgeous. THIS is what a vampire should look like!"
And not only does Rachelle Lefevre fit the beautiful mold for Twilight, but she's also vampire obsessed, which helped make her the perfect choice for the role of Victoria. She actually wrote Catherine Hardwicke a letter talking about her love of vampires and why she was right for the part.
She also says that fame hasn't affected her so much.
"I don't even feel famous. And that's good. I feel like I'm a part of something with a huge fan
base and that's entirely different. It's not about me at all. It's
about the work that Stephenie Meyer created, so while I may be
photographed at a Twilight party, I'm not stopped on the streets of Los
Angeles."
Rachelle thinks that she's not as driven for fame as people from the U.S. because of her Canadian roots.
"I'm not criticizing the States at all. But when you're raised in
Canada, you're brought up with a different appreciation of difference.
We have the mosaic model instead of embracing this general trend of
assimilation - where people are encouraged to believe in the same
things. I was taught to be inquisitive about people and to respect their uniqueness."
Hmm. What do you think about that last quote? Do we have a different view on celebrities here in the U.S.?
Keep reading to see more from her interview.
On her instincts playing Victoria:
"I remember when we were shooting the big vampire baseball game, and I
had this impulse to run my fingers down Nikki Reed's leg - like a
creepy bug. I didn't do it on the first take because I thought about it
too much and censored myself,"
On her character:
"We learn to suppress negative impulses, which is good - unless
you're playing an evil vampire. Victoria does not censor herself, so
it's been really liberating to play a character who just says what's
she's feeling.I
wanted Victoria to be playful and powerful, but not a sociopath.
There's no pathology to her evil. I think she's just an example of what
happens when you have absolute power: It corrupts absolutely. And
let's face it: If you were more powerful than every other person on the
planet, you'd start looking at everyone else as inferior beings.
Victoria also sees humans as food, too, which doesn't help with the
empathy."

I work in a company that deals with both US and Canada and a lot of time I find the people in the US are more rude and obnoxious....they can be very abusive and mean. They scream at you on the phone and it's totally unacceptable and disgusting in my opinion.....and no not all US people are like that....I dealt with many friendly ones out there too.

I've actually dealt with more rude Canadian people!
but i'm not one of them !! hi girl :)
Love her dress! and shoes, and clutch, fashion find?
and shes definitely right about Canada, I love my country!
I am an American and I must say Canadians ROCK!!! Super chill people. And yes lots of Americans are down right RUDE.
woot woot !!! we're awesome people ;) and i must say that you guys rock too !!!
i kinda agree with her comment... the type of industry shes in is more intense in the US than it is in canada. its not a bad thing.. its just a different environment shes probably used to

She is the ONLY female vampire that is actually attractive!! The other fake-blonde and just ugly pixie-haircut woman are ugly!!!
I find it depends on which part of Canada you go to.

She's right. Canadian celebrities are just one of us. We are humble to a fault and don't celebrate what our fellow Canadians do. However, if we win the gold in hockey.....this is a totally different story:)

Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking. Some of these people just prove that ignorance is universal. There are rude people all over the world. What would make people make such idiotic comments? Btw, I just find it hilarious when people start of sentences like, 'We Americans,' 'We Germans,' or 'Us Brits.'--- like one person can truely speak for millions of people. I got cursed out by a mexican last night, so now I guess ALL mexicans are downright rude assholes. That's how it goes, right? You meet one person from a certain race or country, and from their actions/behavior, you decide that's how they all must be. Just like her, I was also brought up to accept people who are different. Exposing us to different people and cultures were really big things to my parents. That's why I have more sense than to make broad generalizations about people based on who they are and where they are from. People who make comments like, 'most (insert nationality) are this/that,' are the ones who keep sterotypes alive and their the problem. Hollywood is filled with self-centered, obnoxious celebrities--and they come from all over the world.
You haven't gone many places in the world, have you?!

I will have to say it is soo weird seeing her get so popular lately. I grew up watching her on tv as Stacy on Big Wolf on Campus. She was this frizzy curly red haired girl on the show and now she has turned into something really pretty.
I'm obsessed* by Rachelle Lefevre...do I win her? :)
* well, not obsessed, but she IS definitely gorgeous. ;)

I LOVE her. She's the perfect Victoria. Also, if you gave her dark hair, she could totally play Stephenie Meyer. Even her speech patterns are similar to Stephenie's.

I am not finding her to be particulary "gorgeous" in these photos...She is definitely an attractive girl, but I wouldnt go so far to call her "gorgeous"...I was kind of shocked when I saw "Twilight" because I didnt think anyone was breathtaking besides Edward. They were all a bit odd looking actually & that works fine, but by the decriptions in the book I was expecting to be blown away.
OmG... kELLEN LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL IN THESE PICS!!!
