Leonardo DiCaprio To Play Frank Sinatra?
Wow, this really is a role that every leading man in Hollywood wants to land!
First we heard that Johnny Depp was a front-runner to take the lead in the Frank Sinatra biopic. Then Jamie Foxx was named as a convincing choice to play Ol' Blue Eyes. But, don't count Leonardo DiCaprio out for the count. He's not abuot to let this part slip away from him!
“Leonardo has hired a top vocal coach to get him sounding like Sinatra. He is a massive fan of the singer and has always wanted to play him. He would be upset to miss out on the leading role because his singing wasn’t up to scratch. He is now in intensive vocal coaching lessons to replicate Sinatra’s distinctive style.”
The fact that Martin Scorsese is directing the movie probably doesn't hurt Leo's chances at all.

I know, but DiCaprio would not be any better. I don't like this guy and he lacks the charisma that Sinatra had.
If I were to pick - Jamie Foxx would not even be a candidate! I all for being fair and such, but I think that was going too far. Wouldn't the directors, producers, etc at least want it believable? I'm sure I'll get someone playing the race card on this comment, but it's the truth! What if they wanted Orlando Bloom to play Ray Charles? How would that have worked?! C'mon!

well...i don't see leo in this role. he's not that charismatic like sinatra. clooney has this vibe...but too old.
Actually, Leo has come a long way as far as being charasmatic. He is very myseterious. I love Leo! He is very charming and he has contributed immensly to to fight against global warming. For all you Sinatra fans out there, I think its wise to remember that Frank was a very philanthropic man and believed in charity, particularly known for giving sums of money to random people anonymously. Frank and Leo are of the same calibur of man. Both very intriguing and unique and very good at what they do. And although I never considered Frank to be a good actor, it will be interesting to watch Leo (a good actor) play a singer because he doesn't even look like he could carry a note. But I think he's determined and I definitely have my fingers crossed for Leo. I just know he can do it and so does he. I'm sure Martin Scorsese is well aware as well.

I think it depends on which portion of Sinatra's life Scorsese is depicting...if its the early years; then Johnny. If its the later years; then Leo.

You're right. I mean, can you imagine? They would paint him white, give him some blue contacts and call him Frank? Fuck that! That would be like a bad version of White Chicks, I mean seriously. Jamie Foxx is an amazing singer and entertainer in his own right, but to even consider him to plat Frank is like a slap in the face to Frank. Maybe Jamie should play Sammy but even then, he's to pretty and too buff.
I don't care for Frank Sinatra and who plays him at all. I just don't want LEO to play him. A biopic about Sinatra will be boring, I know it. This guy was sooo ugly (not only in the physical way) and Leo is the most beautiful person in this world - at least in my opinion. Leonardo doesn't need to play such a person, and he's not a singer at all.

Yeah Clooney definitely had the right aura, but I think Johnny or Leo would make excellent choices for the role. I'd be happy with either one! :)
Clooney already had his chance at being Sinatra in Ocean's 11. Plus, these two are sensual in different ways. George is the macho type, Frank is somewhat except he probably made women cum just by lookin at em. My moneys on James Franco.

Actually, I'm a big fan of Frank Sinatra, and, hands down, if Leo can get the voice right, he'd be a shoe in.
i am very pleased that leo will be playing frank sinatra. jamie foxx would have be ridiculous.
There is no way Scorsese can overlook Leo for this part OF ALL PARTS HE'S ALREADY CASTED HIM IN. I mean come on, Marty!!! He's toying with all of us. No one can play Frank BUT Leonardo and if you think anyone else can I think you should take a hard and good look at the runners-up as I don't think they can even adopt Frank's subtle and complex mannurisms. Francis Albert Sinatra was a very complex individual and Leo himself has proved to be somewhat of this complex kind of man. He's different and he's well equipped to play Frankie. I pray that Marty stops beatin' around the bush and give Leo the part already. He has it. The eyes, the persona, Leo is the man!

This part should go to an unknown, imo James Marsden would be the prefect candidate. The actor has to at least look like 'ol' blue eyes', and neither Leo or Johnny tick any of the boxes.
Leonardo is so handsome - much better looking than Frank Sinatra and much taller. But I think the movie would be great with Leo and his pretty blue eyes as a really handsome Sinatra.
James Franco needs to play Frank. Not only will this propel him to a comfortable spot in his career, which I believe he deserves, but I think that he has got the looks and definietely gots the talent.
