Civil rights? The problem is that according to the laws of different countries gays are people like everyone else and they actually ask for the rights that they already have but without "sex orientation nuance".
Yes, official status will make gays happier, but the truth is that they can go and get married THESE DAYS.

I am really sick of hearing about Gay Marriage. No offense but there is WAY more serious shit going on in this world. Our country is sinking in debt and shame and all people can think to bitch about is GAY MARRIAGE?!? Your president is spending another 56 BILLION dollars on the war this year and deploying MORE TROOPS and yet were having this same Gay Marriage rally and discussion for the millionth time. It makes no sense whatsoever and I am so sick of it being forced down our throats. Look at it logically most people divorce after 2-3 years together anyways, I don't understand why gays are in a rush to do something that almost inevitably fails every time. I honestly think its more of a 'look at me' thing then anything else and before we start pushing for gay marriage there should be some studies done on how it effects children. That is my main concern, the kids but I have yet to hear one educated opinion from a homosexual that can tell me FACTUALLY that having 2 moms or 2 dads will not fuck them up in the future. I am so sick of all these Hollywood people pushing this shit down our throats, like who really gives a shit what Kim Kardashian says? She is the LAST person who needs to step into this. I seriously think that having no home to call your own, to starve and be abused, like so many orphans are, will **** up children way more than having 2 moms or dads that provide them love and care.
Actually this is a pretty serious issue, considering peoples basic human rights and freedoms are being unjustly denied.
Many marriages do in fact end in divorce, but that doesn't mean that same sex couples shouldn't be allowed to marry. If anything, they definitely would not take their chance to marry for granted and would take marriage seriously (unlike men and women seem to be doing these days...).
Your main concern is for the kids?! What a good joke! How many children are neglected or abused in their heterosexual parent homes right now? How many are in homes where mom or dad are addicted to alcohol or other substances? How many children come from divorced families? How many children are raised by a single parent? Do some research and learn about how negatively these various issues are effecting our children today. (And please don't waste anyone's time coming back with some immature rant about how allowing same sex marriages would just add to these problems.) If you're so concerned about the children, then perhaps nobody should be having children?!

The truth of the matter is that it doesn't matter who said what and how they said it. It is about people accepting others for who they are. I am not for gay marriages but I am 100% for civil unions that allow homosexuals to benefit and experience all of the things that straight people do. Marriage is about committing to one person in front of God and because of the beliefs that have been set into place through Christ and his teachings, those that know the bible know that homosexuality is considered a sin. This does not mean that we are to lecture, condemn, or hate those that are homosexual. Everyone is so set against things that they view as wrong or immoral but who are we to judge? God is the real judge of humanity and it is our job to spread love, regardless of what form it may be in, rather than spewing hate or negative opinions at those that are different than us. We are all human beings and we all deserve to be respected and loved. So rather than focusing on the ability for gays to marry we should really be focusing on all of our abilities to live harmoniously and to be accepting of those that are different than ourselves. We do not need a law to make homosexuals feel as though they are afforded the same rights as straights, we need compassion and acceptance by society.

I think they should all lose a civil right and see how they like it.
If two consenting adults wish to marry, they should be able to, regardless of their gender.
I can't help but wonder what happened to separation of church and state? It clearly was forgotten somewhere along the way! I wish people would realize that their own religious beliefs are not necessarily shared by everyone else, and therefore should not be used to oppress others. (I also wish people would remember that marriages do not require a religious affiliation.)
