Katherine Jackson Files Guardianship Papers

Katherine Jackson Files Guardianship Papers

This morning Katherine Jackson filed guardianship papers for Michael Jackson's three children, according to TMZ. The children have reportedly been staying with her since Michael died last Friday. The guardianship papers say, in part:

As for why Katherine thinks it would be "best" to appoint her guardian,
"Minor children are currently residing with paternal grandmother. They
have a long-established relationship with paternal grandmother and are
comfortable in her care."

The petition states the kids have "no relationship with their biological mother."

The petition says it's "not known at this time" whether the mother (Rowe) agrees that Katherine should be the legal guardian.

As for Prince, Michael's third child, in the box where it says "mother" the box is checked "none."

Debbie Rowe, the biological mother of Michael's two oldest children, reportedly doesn't want custody of the children.

A hearing was scheduled for August 3 to hear the petition.

In the meantime, according to CNN, Katherine was awarded temporary guardianship.

Hopefully the children will be able to stay together and there won't be any big custody battle.

hopefully the children will be in a loving home, with each other. this is a tough time for them. hearing that their biological mother doesn't want them must be tough, regardless of their past relationship!

Oh great, now the children can be brought up by the same people that messed up Michael. Good call!

I hope they stay together. I hope Michael had it in his will so they can take his wishes into consideration. This loss and transition will be hard enough w/o the kids having to worry about where they'll be.

I definitely don't think Debbie Rowe should get the kids. But I also don't think the grandparents should get them either. Look at how many kids they messed up. It's well documented how violent Joe Jackson was to those kids. Not to mention they're 80 years old. The kids have already had one parent die, they don't need 2 other parental figures dying on them. I think the nanny should get them. She's been with them since they were born and she's in her early 40s. Not a perfect solution, but better than the other options in my opinion.

i think the nanny should get them as well, she is seemingly the most fit to have them.

I don't know about that. The nanny was giving interviews a day or two after he died, and surely for money. I don't think such a person would be the most suitable to mind the kids.

The kids would be better off with.....um.....ah well I guess grandma is the best choice. Maybe they feel most comfortable with her. She is separated from Joe so the children will probably never see him anyway.

What about Janet. She and her man have talked of wanting kids. They would be a good choice. Or one of the other siblings that are more stable than Michaels mother.

They could stay with their grandmother and being cared by the same nanny they had. That way if the grandparents die, they wouldn't be left alone again. The nanny could take care of them.

In today's' press conference Joe held with the reverend Al, he was promoting his new record company. Yes.... he was promoting his new label and said "we have great new artist". Joe always wanted to ride his kids coattails. Especially Michaels' but Michael never wanted to deal with Joe. Joe sees Michael's death as his chance to be in the limelight; this man was never a father to Michael. This is your opportunity to shine Joe, finally Michael is out of your way you leech.

He comes off as a complete slimeball and that will come to light much louder than it has in the past, I think. Those poor kids don't stand a chance if they go to the grandparents. That whole family is so messed up. :(

I find it interesting that it says that the kids have "a longstanding relationship with their grandMOTHER". Has Joe really ever been a part of their lives? Probably better for them if he hasn't. If he gets his hands on them, he'll end up pimping them out to the highest bidding media outlets. Let them stay with the nanny away from all the craziness

the grandma is too old to have custody of these kids. she can't possibly keep up with them and will probably not live to see them all graduate.
