The Rain Can't Hold Us Back

For the second day in a row, we attempted the pool. And for the second day in a row, the second we got there it started to rain.
UNREAL
But this time, Bill said to wait it out instead of just going home. So we did, and thankfully it cleared up much faster than we expected.
While at the pool, some child smacked my daughter in the face and I almost ripped his head off his body. The RAGE that went through me was unreal.
But I took a deep breath and went up to the mother who put her son in a time out and made him apologize. I am very happy she was so nice because I was really, really angry and... I'll just leave it at that.
Met a few people from town while there which was nice to catch up.
I swear, my town is so community based. Astoria was amazing to grow up in - I was surrounded by friends. We hung out on our stoop every day. Never alone. Always at least a half dozen kids on my street ready for fun.
But this town is amazing. You go anywhere and you meet people you know and you chat. It has a very small town feel for being so large.
Grocery shopping, the pool, the post office, the park. You ALWAYS run into someone. So friendly! So happy we moved here. I think my kids are going to have a great childhood. Really excited about making the memories.

I'm so sorry about Natalie getting smacked. Ouchie. :( Glad the other mom didn't pull any of that "not MY child" crap. ;) Where you live sounds so nice. I've always wanted to live in a smaller town.

Nice to hear the other parent did take responsiblity of her child. Most parents are so quick to dismiss the idea that their child was bad. Kuddos to you for taking as a stand as well.---em's

I don't know if I would have held it together as much as you did. If someone starts LOOKING at my kid the wrong way there's a problem. LOL! Your town sounds a lot like my town here in FL. VERY family oriented always have something on the weekends for them to do and you are always bound to run into someone you know. I think my daughter's going to enjoy growing up here too. :)

The town I grew up in was a small town, but it was only as big as it was because of the Air Force Base 10 miles away. If it didn't always have people moving in and out, then it would probably be a small, personal town. You could always see someone you knew where ever you went, though. As for Natalie getting smacked, I'm glad the mom punished the kid!

I know the feeling when your child gets hit. Yesterday we got 1.5" of rain in 15 minutes. It is supposed to be like that tonight again. Hope they still have the fireworks. We live on a hill and can see fireworks from all the neighboring cities so we always just stay home and watch from our backyard.

Sorry to hear that Natalie got hit. Some kids are just not nice! Met many of them over the course of the last several years. :)
Your community sounds wonderful and fun Vera! You are lucky to live in such a great area.

Oh Vera, I know how it feels like. Just yesterday a boy who is one year older than my little one pulled the chair from underneath her then hit her in the middle of her back. I could have ripped his head off myself but instead found his mom who made him apologise and hug my girl. Amazing how mothers would fight for their children's well being. It never ceases to fascinate me!
I know everyone will be at my case for this but if I ever have a kid, someone hits them and they come crying to me, I'll take their hand, go back to the kid and tell them to fight back.
